A perfect spot to sit and watch the world go by for a bit. This stylish little pavilion is easy to reach and sits at the intersection of runners, bikers, the beach and enjoys stunning views of the skyline.

Great view of the city and a perfect spot to take a break (and play chess). It’s always fun to see people here getting their photos taken. Just outside of the North Avenue underpass so easy to get to.

One of my favorite places to chill and people watch in Chicago, which is located by North Beach on Lake Michigan, by the lake shore bike/walking path.People of all backgrounds come here to play chess, or just hang out. A great place to hide from sudden rain storms. Close to the North Ave walkway with parks on the other side of LSD.A nice spot to work on your laptop etc.

Nice little spot for a pickup game of casual chess. Sometimes people offer to play for money, if thats your thing.A couple of the boards are either torn out / missing, or are pretty significantly damaged, so -1 star for that, but overall, I have had a good time each time Ive gone.

I ran into this place spontaneously while walking on the lake shore. As a result I spent at least one hour playing chess with a very friendly old man of approximately the same level. It looks like theres always somebody to play with there.

Even if you dont play chess, its fun to come by and watch a game. There are more than a dozen chess boards marked, just remember to bring your pieces. This place is also good for a break from the sun. Theres plenty of shade.
