Thanks to an amazing media contact of mines and her recommendation on the show, I was invited to attend The Magic Parlour and The Encore Room (post show) with my boyfriend this past weekend. We had a blast! Im always looking for unique experiences in Chicago outside of the typical bar, lounge, and restaurant scene for my personal leisure and to share with my readers on my travel site Wheres She Going?. The Magic Parlour was exactly what Ive been looking for. This was an intimate magic show with the perfect amount of people, interactiveness, and diverse crowd thats perfect for a group outing, solo date, or date night. One of my favorite perks of the show is that drinks are included (wine, beer, soft drinks). Dennis Watkins, the magician and star of the show, was extremely nice and his bubbly personality filled the room. He was funny, did an amazing job engaging the audience with his magic tricks, and made sure everyone overall had a lovely time - and that we did :) Highly recommended.

The show was truly amazing. I left the room after the show with my head spinning. I didn’t sleep well that night because I was constantly thinking about how Dennis performed some of his magic. A memorable event!

I couldnt say it any better than the other five star reviews. This is top level magic and mind-reading, up close, personal, and extremely entertaining. You probably wont have many opportunities in your life to experience something like this, so take advantage of it while you can!

It was amazing!! Wowing, intriguing, and very interactive! Small crowd and setting kept it very comfortable and personal. My 12-year-old daughter loved the show as much as I and her 70 year old grandma did! Very entertaining and fun!! We would definitely go again and recommend this evening for anyone who wants to have a good evening of entertainment. Dennis was great!!

I was looking for something unique for my husbands birthday. Im so glad I found The Magic Parlour (and if you call the box office directly, you dont have to pay convenience fees). Dennis - the illusionist/magician/mind reader - structures the show around his relationship with his grandfather, also a magician who owned a magic shop. Forget all the stresses of adult life and put your cynicism aside...for 90 minutes...just have fun. Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages are included with your ticket, and the room is intimate and charming - it feels like part of the show. I highly recommend!

This goes beyond just a magic show. As Dennis often says throughout the night, it is truly an experience full of moments where you are asking yourself He did what..?! or how did he know that..?!!? In between those jaw-dropping moments, Dennis layouts out engaging story-telling and humor that makes the 90 minute show fly by. You will be re-hashing the tricks in your mind the whole car ride home, asking yourself how did he do that??!

Despite major complaints beforehand from my 13 and 16 year old about going to a magic show, they ended up loving it. The grandparents (who also tend to be a bit surly) thought it was delightful as well.Dennis is a smart and funny entertainer. The “tricks” were complex and performed flawlessly....and everyone was saying “What??? How did he do that???” after every one. Highly recommend.

This is the second time I have attended The Magic Parlor with family. The intimate environment makes it really easy to get lost in the experience. Dennis does a great job of enrolling the audience in the fun. Appropriate for everyone from well-behaved children to senior citizens.

Favorite experience of my entire vacation! Dennis floored the audience with his incredible prowess of the magic culture as an exemplary magician. He proforms at the highest level for anyone willing to open their mind to his finesse and imagination! Well worth it.
