Such a hidden gem -- right in front of you! Tours are free (donations recommended) and itll probably only take you half an hour. Sounds weird, but make sure to look at the washrooms-- a blast from the past!

Beautiful building, this national HQ for the Elks club is a grand space and for a great organization. The Elks Club is well worth being a member and supporting their great causes plus the clubs social aspect is very fun

Hidden gem in the city. It is a MUST if you are visiting Chicago. Comparable in art and the magnificence of the building to European castles.

So amazing on the inside. Like the pantheon only more ornate. The murals and decor capture the feel of optimism and grandure of a past era. Worth the time to go to the lower level to see old rose bowl parade float models.

This place is fantastic. First of all its free. Yes, no admission. The Architecture of the buildings outside and grounds are nice. We had walked by it many times and I wondered what it was. Thought it was nice except for the fence. I noticed that it had open house daily from 11 - 4 or 5. I visited a few days later for the first time and I honestly think I gasped when I went in. I just wasnt expecting it to be so beautiful. The room you enter into is so grand with lots of Marble and a beautiful ceiling. The best part is that, thats not even the best part! You enter another room that is even more beautiful. I dont want to describe it so you could be surprised as I was but its a beautiful contrast to the first room. Then in the basement there are a lot of glass cases with reproductions of floats that the Elks have had in numerous Rose Bowl Parades. Fun to look at. When we have company we usually go to the Lincoln Park Zoo (Free), then the conservatory right outside the park with all its gorgeous flowers and plants (also Free) then to the Elks Head Quarters (Free). You will have a day that would normally cost $80. per person all for free. You will LOVE it all! With the money you saved you can go out to eat somewhere on Clark or pack a picnic. Oh by the way. Elks is closed for the Winter reopens in May. The Zoo and Conservatory are opened every day of the year.

Sensory overload for photographers. This is an awesome place for anyone interested in photography and want to shoot wide sweeping architecture. The main dome and the carvings and wall paintings in the library is mind blowing. Do bring a wide angle lens though :-)

Ive walked by this place a few times as Im sure many others have. Im glad we went in & toured the beautiful memorial that began as a tribute to WWI veterans but then later included veterans to all US-involved conflicts. The woman who greeted us was extremely informative and thankful that we came. She explained that the bldg was 90 years old this month. Everything in the bldg is the same age: from the imported marble to the alabaster light fixtures. A must see
