Decent gym. Discounts for certain things so inquire if you are affiliated with the university in some capacity. Work out area for weights is relatively small. Pool is world class and courts are usually available for basketball and other things.

Solid gym, has barbells which is surprising uncommon. Good for cardio, but Im not a fan of most of the ellipticals

My place to go for gym. A lot of treadmill selections, indoor swimming pool, weight lifting, indoor basket ball, some fun classes like, zumba, dance, yoga, etc. You can join as member or any other club it has. You can go very early as it open at 6 am and bring all the stuff, like clothes to take shower there before your class/work start. Happy sweating!

I work out here almost every morning. A little cramped in the weight room but you can find most weightlifting equipment here. You can also perform Olympic lifts (provided its not crowded)

Da
Review №6

It has the classical walls and windows appearance of most indoor athletic centers. You can run in place in many places and styles throughout this large modern structure. Ultimately its only downside is that other people use it.

Facilities manager is incompetent and refuses to do his job, and lies about it when confronted.Morning frost doesnt remain on the ground until mid-afternoon, especially if its in the mid-40s all day. Take some accountability and do your job

This UChicago sports center. Contains gym swimming pool, basletball court and many other sports facilities. All facilities are very clean. This is free for UChicago members, but do not know the regulations for outsiders.

Great university gym. Clean, and has plenty of barbell, dumbbell, machine, and cardio equipment. Plus, an enormous pool.

Parking can be tough, go more north. Staff are friendly. Can get crowded in the evenings. Pool is kept cold. Classes are good.

Exactly what you would expect a college gym to look (smell) like.

Jo

Great facility. Always clean. The people there are always courteous and respectful. Wish they would open up their saunas though.

Bi

The weight room is really crowded between 8 am-10 am and between 4 pm-6 pm. But other than that it is pretty good.

Je
Review №21

I like the gym there. Its nice because the track is right there. The fitness center itself where the weights are is a little small, but it still gets the job done.

Worst college gym by far. Tiny and overcrowded. Not enough equipment. Staff unhelpful. Absurd costs ($60 per quarter for a locker, $0.55 for towel each time). Horrible establishment.

Jo
Review №23

Clean and spacious with great equipment. But, one of the weight machines has been out of order for two weeks. And BOO for closing the sauna.

Ch
Review №24

This place is very cheap and offers a wide range of gym equipment and facilities.

Ho
Review №25

The University of Chicagos newest gym (in comparison to Henry Crown). It offers a big pool, basketball courts, two lifting weights gym. Can get crowded with students coming in and out but is a fairly complete gym.

Good if youre a UChicago undergrad and dont have to pay for membership. Otherwise, there are better gyms in the area.

Co
Review №29

The gym is for University of Chicago students alumni and staff only. However it has everything you can possibly imagine from the gym and much more. Relatively cheap for a Chicago gym as well

Awesome pool (16* 25 y + well), well stocked gym, nice locker rooms, machines work well. Could use another set of bathrooms, especially on 2nd floor

am
Review №32

Good facilities. Unfortunately very busy during the summer due to shorter opening hours and the closing of the other university gym.

De
Review №33

Decent work out facility for UChicago students. Competition gym is small but clean and new looking

Ch
Review №34

The more modern athletic center on UChicago campus offers more machines and cardio options, and is also busier. There arent enough bars for the benching/squats area, though, and also a strange lack of plates. This may be in part a result of poor gym etiquette but the other athletic facility doesnt share this problem so it loses points for that. If youre into cardio, though, this will likely be your place.

Jo

Ratner has a full complement of weight machines, treadmills and ellipticals, basketball courts, and a pool. There are lockers for both renting and day use, and they have free combo locks for use. The cardio rotunda can fill up, so make sure to reserve a machine if you want to work out there.
