We have interacted with SAIC over last 8 months and altogether our experience has been fabulous. We have heard about orientations at other schools and we have our own experience, I must say we feel glad that our kid opted for this institute, our orientation was amazing and thorough and so was our childs. Our journey has just started but it looks that all would continue to be good.

My husband was got a great education here, but almost didnt graduate because we couldnt afford the tuition. Many of his classmates didnt make it through. At his graduation I wished I had a sack of rotten tomatoes to throw at the pompous cravats up there bloviating about the greatness of SAIC, while talented and deserving students are systematically excluded from completing an education at SAIC (and have their finances ruined whether they finish or not).I was naive at first and assumed that his college would take an interest in helping him succeed, like mine had. I was so wrong. My husband was enthusiastically accepted to SAIC as a Merit Scholar, so he got a small scholarship along with some grants and student loans. Ben was a better-than-average student involved in honors programs. Our estimated family contribution per the FAFSA was always $0, however at the end of every semester wed get bills for $5-10k. The tuition rose several thousand dollars each year--from $35k his freshman year to over $50k his senior year--but financial aid never made up the difference. The so-called financial aid counselor advised us to take out bank loans in addition to the student loans we already had...WOW! I asked her if she would give the same bad financial advice to her own child; crickets to that.Do yourself a favor and limit your search to fully-funded universities with a tuition lock unless youre rich as hell and can pay out of pocket. I wish we had; well be impaired financially for another few years trying to get out from under this debt. Weve put off all kinds of life choices because of this monkey on our backs. And all because we were too poor to pay full price in the first place.

Beautiful art museum with a great collection. Unfortunately, couldnt get to the museum until the last day of my trip and had to rush through it. However, the pamphlet helpfully listed the major art pieces to check out. Will definitely return next time Im in Chicago.

RUN! After a year of classes with two scholarships and perfect academics, a $2000 (now like $5500) balance prevented me from continuing coursework! I emailed the Dean, Headmaster, and every single email address I could find BEGGING to continue my coursework and asking if they can forward the balance-- also in their best interests as a business as it would double the revenue for SAIC.... CRICKETSNo one even responded and I was forced to drop out of classes until I came up with ANOTHER $2k. Mind you, its $50,000.00 per year. Now, my student loans are in arrears, I can not re-enroll until I get them caught up and also I can not continue until I pay the $2k balance WHICH IS NOW 5K.-My credit is ruined-My otherwise flawless acedemic career is useless because they wont send official transcripts-I cant pay the balance due because I cant get a job, because I dont have a degree, because I dont have $5k to pay the balance.ITS A TRAP and theyre not apologizing for it standing by the notion that education should be for the rich. Half the classes are awesome, the other half are like flushing $6,000 down the toilet (plus interest). What started as means for a better life for myself has paralyzed my ability to survive. Its a horrible reality.

Professor Michael Bonesteel, an art critic, author, and specialist in the history of comics and the history of outsider art, resigned after 14 years with SAIC when his hours were cut and his healthcare was lost in response to accusations of racism and homophobia when two transgender students were “triggered” by course material and lodged complaints. These snowflakes have trivialized what triggered means. They throw it around like its candy, when those that actually have PTSD from really messed up situations realize that the world around them wont conform/cater to their needs.

Anyone whining about a celebrity getting an honorary doctorate is completely ignorant of what that even entails, and as an actual student at the school with of grasp of how higher education actually operates, I can say that this school, while not perfect, is truly fantastic.
