ACAC Downtown is my go to fitness center. The classes and teachers are excellent and I feel that they are doing their best in COVID times to deliver a quality product that feels safe.

Always feel safe. Recent issues well resolved by staff which included good communication. Am glad I am back at the DT facility after being gone for a couple of months.

Aquarobics are a wonderful way to stay fit, and ACAC Downtown classes are well-run and enjoyable

Staff is always great, machines are well kept and the app that will show how crowded they are is very useful. Rooftop pool is very relaxing and the place is deceptively huge

When I joined I specifically asked about the cancellation policy because I had a feeling the gym wasn’t going to work for me. I was told I could cancel at any time. Fast forward a month and a half, it takes over two weeks to get someone to speak with me despite numerous inquiries. They tell me I have to pay for an entire year (I never signed anything). They asked me to come to the gym twice to discuss with me and both times I arrived to find that the person wasn’t there. Finally they agreed to cancel. I check my statements and I’m still being billed. They tell me that I am being charged for an extra month because they processed the cancellation after the 20th (my initial cancellation request was a week prior to that date). Really questionable business practices. I have started asking around and this experience seems to be quite common.

Really trendy, cool place. Rooftop pool and deck with fabulous views. Large windows all over. Located close to the downtown mall with shopping and dining within walking distance. Great variety of equipment and classes. Also, theres indoor pools!

The most convenient and fun gym in Charlottesville! I am constantly finding new things to love. The rooftop is my favorite place to relax in the summer, and Ive definitely been enjoying the food trucks! I love how involved in the community acac is; I see so many familiar faces and have met new friends through group exercise classes and special events - it feels like home.

Beautiful club. Hands down the best family programming at any gym in Charlottesville. Good variety of members (all ages, all abilities). I really love the rooftop pool in the summer for a quick dip. The YMCA and studios dont even come close to offering the same value I get as an acac member. Love you, acac.

Easy access and ample parking. The KidZone staff has exceeded all of our expectations with our young son. We’ve been coming since he was 6mo and they’ve been great! Twice they’ve come to get us and both times were legitimate issues (cut toe, inconsolable).The gym is large with diverse equipment, the locker rooms are clean and the facilities well maintained. I expect to be a member for a while.

Lots of machines so you never have to wait. Always clean and staff is friendly. Very cheap membership. I love this gym!

For the price I pay and the service I receive it’s a rip off deal. Also Employees are rude.

ACAC has ruined me for all other gyms. The best class selection Ive ever had, the friendliest staff, and the best amenities (the refrigerated lavender towels are my favorite). The membership fee is 3x my old gym, but its more than 3x as nice! In the end, a much better value than a boutique gym, with the variety boutique gyms cant offer. I love it.

Great gym, downtown that is.. been to gyms all over we love this one. Great staff, spinning classes good but they need more classes. On weekends barely a class, fridays, few options. Studio 60 needs more classes and after 6 PM too. Swim classes would be great after spinning but they are always same time or half way.. Would like to see belly dancing classes and more swim classes as well as spinning classes.. Great ambience.. love the fire place and lounge on roof. Showers are amazinggg

Just joined in November. While still learning about all that acac has to offer, I am enjoying the variety of services, classes, workout equipment, and staff. After using the university facilities for years, I am finding acac to be a good value for the money. I am feeling comfortable working out there and going to the yoga classes which have been exceptional.

Have been an ACAC member for 6 years and very, very happy with my membership. I feel that the ACAC is able to offer an amazing amount and variety of group classes that are on par with or better than the many overpriced boutique gyms in the area. For what you get, the membership fee is very reasonable in my opinion. Would not consider another gym in the area.

I love everything about acac. Its a lovely facility and has great staff.

Best gym in Charlottesville, but definitely could use some improvements if it wants to compete into the future. Cleanliness-3 stars, the locker room showers are pretty gross as well as the upstairs weight/cross-train room with trx equipment. Theres always an amazing amount of hair balls that just dont seem to get swept up daily and even when they open first thing. If you work in town, employers generally give great discounts. The saunas are wonderful. Compared to gyms in NY/NJ in this price range, their really should be more overall space, better equipment, hot tubs located in each locker room. Classes are fantastic and taught by great instructors. Hours are much better than the YMCA. ACAC also donates to local non-profits, tech events and local causes. Can get extremely busy most hours of the day... Overall, your best option downtown.

Great gym, great equipment, and awesome staff, but not really worth the price. Its often overcrowded and the hours of operation are too short. I cant understand why the most expensive gym in town would close so early on the weekends when people actually have time to workout. Id really love to keep going here, but Im cancelling my membership because of the short hours.

Great place but closes too early. It is the best gym in town, I think. But if you are into powerlifting look elsewhere. Recently they extended their hours of operation and it is a bit better. The biggest downside now is the price, given that it is, by far, the most expensive gym in town

Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and level of cleanliness and fitness offerings are the best in town! Plus, the Waterpark in the summertime is amazing! Thank you acac!

They are the dirtiest business I have ever dealt with. They exhibit no customer service skills and lie and manipulate members to pay for services they do not receive. It is evident that they only care about numbers and money they do not care about clients and members! I am truly disappointed because I enjoyed my time working out but I will never go there again!

I love this gym! Ive found that it is such a great value considering all of the classes that are free with membership, plus the selection of equipment, pools, and child care for families.

The ACAC gyms are unusually nice, and spotlessly clean. The equipment is fine and the staff are friendly. Best of all are the mind-body classes. Just doing yoga three days a week is in and of itself worth the membership fee. (Good instructors and congenial classes.)

Fantastic facility with superb staffing!

First class facility with extensive and well maintained equipment, friendly staff, and good classes.My only complaint is that it seems to be getting overcrowded lately, especially in the locker rooms. Used to be you could count on a smaller crowd afternoons between 1 and 4:00 but even that space is getting hectic now. Not sure if anything can be done about it but I am starting to find it annoying to wait for equipment with increasing frequency, especially given membership rates.

Ive been using acac for a little over 2 months now. Everyone Ive met has been so welcoming and helpful. Love the cycle classes and the work Ive done with my personal trainer! It is always clean and never gets that funky gym smell. A little pricy, but in my opinion its worth it.

Love, love, love ACAC. Ive been working out there for 6 years. Its well-maintained, the staff is friendly, the class schedules are kept up-to-date. Very well run. Oh, and the roof-infinity pool is amazing!

I enjoyed watching the sun set from the rooftop pool before relaxing with Hatha Yoga and Yin Yoga classes. The atmosphere is very clean and it smells good! They have a great studio for dance practice with bars and mirrors. The 30 days for $30 membership was great but the normal membership is too pricy to continue.

ACAC is by far one of the best gyms I have ever been at. I have been a member for over a year now and could not be more pleased. To this day it amazes me all the things I get out of this gym. So worth the money!

Love this place! Great group classes, great hot tub, sauna, atmosphere, and staff. I could not ask for a better gym, I support this gym 100% & would recommend to anyone!

I was a patron of ACAC for a little over a year before I left. I moved into an apartment complex that had a fairly nice onsite gym, and since this was free I thought it only made sense to leave. THIS WAS A HUGE MISTAKE. For two years I struggled to muster up any excitement about exercising, it became a burdensome chore. I finally came back to ACAC and I couldnt be happier-- it is remarkable how much of an impact an approachable staff and a tidy gym can make.

Hands down the best fitness club In Charlottesville.

A bit pricey, but clean, upscale atmosphere, and professional staff. Lots of amenities too.
