Its a good place to play golf and the bar & grill is a great place to eat a delicious meal

I played there in August 2020 and it was in great shape. A friend and I were paired with 2 members and they were a lot of fun to play with and we all had a good time! The price was a little steep but it was worth it to get to play a great course. Thanks to Tom and David (the members we played with) and the great staff for making it a great day!

Birdwood is always a treat to play and has a very memorable layout, especially all of the par threes. Lock for mountain views on the back 9 as well as an island green par three. Greens run fast but true, heard they were undergoing a course redesign so it might be a while before I play here again.

The Davis Love III course is a great course. The course is in great shape. A challenging yet fair golf test. Greens are still growing in, so they are a little slow. The fairways are in great shape. This course will make you think and utilize every club in your bag!

Attractive patio for outdoor dining with a view of the golf course and the hills beyond. Sandwiches and a couple salads on the menu. Attentive waitstaff.

Excellent service and beautiful course. Fairways are in great condition; greens are a bit grainy and need to mature, but very playable. Challenging course. Pricey on holiday weekend.

Beautifully redesigned course by David Love III. Caters to the scratch and 30 handicap golfer. Its very well maintained and the speed of the green is just perfect. Highly recommended.

Great course and management! Course is fun to play and its beautiful. The new design ....I would play again.

The renovations have reinvigorated the course. I feel the grille is still finding its footing but the updates to the menu are welcome.

Had a great day out at Birdwood GC! Course was in relatively good shape, everyone was super friendly, and I was able to play a round as a single in a little over 2 1/2 hours. Priced really well also.Only not giving it five stars because of the construction going on for about 4 to 6 holes. Once they finish that, this will be a top-notch facility!I will definitely be returning when I’m back in town.

This classic course is closing for a complete renovation by the Love Design Group. I wanted to play it one last time before it’s redesign. Had a great outing, didn’t score well, but experience will live with me!

One of the best golf courses in the area, without a doubt. Its a challenging course and is kept in great condition, especially during the hot summer days. Walking the course can be really tough, especially the back nine, which is particularly hilly. Usually if I walk 18, Ill take the back 9 on first, just to get the toughest part out of the way. The practice facilities are top notch as well. Great, natural driving range with a few very well maintained putting and chipping greens. Staff are great and the pro shop is well stocked. Beware, green fees are pretty steep.

This is a golf course connected to both UVA and Boars Head Resort. Also the public can play here. Very traditional older course which is right now in the midst of some major renovations. Davis loves group has been hired to lengthen the course and Spruce it up a bit. Theyre also installing some major new training facilities.

Beautiful golf course right outside of town. Very friendly staff didnt seem snoody. Accommodating to groups and tournaments. The course is amazing and even has an Island green. It can be a little difficult in spots and sometimes hard to score but that doesnt take away from its presence, design, and fun!

Course is in decent shape, and I had a good time playing there. However, its not a top-tier course, and the $99/round isnt justified. The $50 hot deal on GolfNow seemed about right. If Spring Creek is a 5-star course, Birdwood barely deserves 3. The clubhouse, grill, and overall atmosphere was great. I understand the course is undergoing a complete makeover, so I look forward to updating my evaluation next year.

The Birdwood Golf Course at The Boars Head is a well-rated and pleasantly testing layout. This tree-lined and open parkland course should not disappoint, with many attractive features and several excellent holes to enjoy. One to include on your play list if you are in the area.

Now considered part or Boards Head Resort

One of the best maintained courses in the Charlottesville area. A great deal for uva alumni or students, but a little bit costly for the general public. Features hilly terrain and beautiful views. Probably only two flat shots that arent off the tee on the whole course.

First off, fantastic course. Greens are smooth and almost impossible to hold if youre above the hole, so steer towards being short than long (hit some shots on the chipping green and youll see what I mean). Course itself has a wonderful layout and seemed pretty walkable. Hilly but walkable. Good collection of holes but some weaker par 3s, but thats forgivable because the 4s and 5s are fantastic.Lost of little areas to practice: two putting greens, a chipping green, and a good sized driving range where you can hit off grass. The UVA golfers also seem to have a 100 yards and in practice green hidden away. There is a new practice center coming in the Fall of 2018. Looks like its going to be awesome. Clubhouse is small but the service is good. New grill but I didnt have time to try it.Overall I had a great experience playing the UVA golf course near Charlottesville. You all should come out!

Great day out to play golf. Great course, well maintained. Pleasent staff. They had a putting course for anyone to try their hand at for Labor day, and were giving away prizes to the lowest scores.

Being renovated as of now, will be much bigger when project is complete

I golfed here on Friday, April 27, 2018. The fairways were mud, literally, but that was not disclosed when I called for a tee time, and they had no effect on the premium pricing.
