I thought it was closed, but my friend told me it was open.They are showing old movies and concert video and other daily, so please check their website to see what they are showing now.They are roughly allowing one group in one line, so virtually there will be nobody around you.Everybody have to go to save the theater for future, so if you find the movie you interested in, you should go and see in the theater.

Visited this theater, not for a show but for a guided tour. Very interesting and highly recommended. Our guide was very knowledgeable and fielded many questions. Would love to come back for a show next time were in the area.

An award winning magnificently preserved theatre, exquisitely decorated for Christmas...just a spectacular venue. Pay attention to the architecture and all the nuances of this venue. Please look up and around you. Immaculate. Graciously friendly, helpful and attentive staff. The only thing that met with the same or greater satisfaction was the Robert Earl Keen Jamboree/Christmas Show.

Absolutely beautiful theater. It was a visually stunning experience. I went for the Christmas choir late night showing. The popcorn however was a little but cold and my date and I were disappointed by it. Go when its busy for better popcorn. Good prices on drinks for a theater though!

Beautiful architecture, looks quite elegant!

This is a really nice theater in a fun and convenient spot downtown in Charlottesville. I had seats just a few rows back from the stage to see Post Modern Jukebox and was impressed with the viewing experience and sound quality.I live a couple hours away but will look for another opportunity to visit Charlottesville and the Paramount.

Great venue for movies and live performances. The architecture is unique and visual details perfectly restored, highlighting the aesthetic appeal of this one of a kind gem.

There arent many theaters that celebrate the gilded age of Hollywood anymore. The Paramount in Charlottesville, VA maintains the grandeur of time past. With painted/ gilded ceilings, super comfy seating and a beautiful staircase leading to the balcony, going to see a movie became something special. Added bonus: cocktails are available if youd like a libation. Well priced at $7 to see Jaws, is about half the price of a movie ticket in NJ. Were so glad we went!

The Paramount is a great place to see a show! Not too big, the building has lots of character, really helpful staff and comfy seats.

I had the pleasure of hearing Renée Fleming sing for the first time on March 3, 2020, at the Paramount Theater on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville. The interior of this theater is delightful with its French-inspired painted scenes and gilded plaster decoration that would please even Louis XV! This is a cozy venue, far more intimate than any stadium could ever be. Ive seen Diana Ross and Patti Labelle here as well. The bathrooms, richly decorated in brown marble, are worthy of a private tour, the perfect setting to check your makeup or admire your elegant evening attire!

Went to see Straight No Chasers and had a wonderful evening with my wife. The seating is a bit small for a big guy! Other than that it was a great time. The theater is unique in that most any seat is a great seat with good views of the stage.

I was lucky enough to see Gladys Knight at the Paramount. What a wonderful location for a truly beautiful artist. I will be going again soon. Do yourself a favor and see an event at the Paramount!

I love tha Paramount but cant get to many events due to my schedule. The Downtown Mall is not my favorite place to be at night, so I dont go there alone, but the events I attend are always absolutely wonderful!

Stunning old movie theater. Local group restored it and now they offer a glorious venue for performers. Its nice to go sit in this beautiful space and watch a movie or a concert. Its also on the downtown mall in charlottesville which has great little shops and amazing restaurants.

Beautiful multi use theater has a great sound system and spotlight arrays and acoustics! Amazing architecture and murals. Great staff add to the wonderful aura felt when in this classic historical building. Parking available at two nearby garages as well as on the streets. The open air mall around the theater makes waiting before the show bearable andworth coming early to walk around and visit the various stores and restaurants available.

Great show but not such a great experience with the website and staff. First of all, the previous assessment of purchasing parking passes is correct. I paid $10.75 for the event parking pass and the charge would have been $6.That would not have been a big deal if it had not been for the seating. I purchased a seat through the website that was supposed to be in the pit. I don’t know the theater that well except from movies as a kid and truthfully did not even open the mailed ticket until I was parked. When I got in the theater the usher checked my ticket and told me I was in the back. I told the usher that was not the seat I purchased from the site and her reply was “yeah, a lot of people have been saying that.” That was it. No I’m sorry. Nothing else.As it turned out some friends found me an empty seat near the front after intermission but, frankly, the entire experience reeked of old time Charlottesville, the Charlottesville I grew up in, the Charlottesville where in certain places, including the UVA campus, it was made clear you were not welcome unless you were of a certain class.That being said, it’s a great venue with good sound and a wonderful ambiance. I went there virtually every Saturday afternoon for a movie in the 60s. From now on if I am going to a show there, I will purchase my ticket directly from the box office so as to know exactly where my seat is.

I love the Paramount. I have seen two ballets there. Both were excellent. Everyone working there is very friendly and helpful. Parking is a close walk. Lots of nearby restaurants.

Went for a comedy show that was a full house. The theater could stand to lose 100 or so seats so that people are not packed in so tightly.

Trying to purchase tickets for events at The Paramount is a very frustrating experience. If you live out of town getting there to purchase in person is difficult. Dealing with them on the phone is next to impossible with staff that does not understand customer service or how to apply coupons.

I did not stop in for the show, however, Rigoletti was the present performance available. The historic theater located in the beautiful historic downtown Charlottesville.

Great place for Metropolitan Opera Live!

Very pretty, polite staff and workers loved the movie, had a fun time, yummy snacks and beverages. Just wish the seats were comfy but overall 5/5 besides that.

The paramount is a wonderful place and every event that I’ve had the pleasure to attend was awesome but last night it was a different story. There was this guy that was a “security “ guy for the theater, he was extremely aggressive with me and my 13 month old. He was attempting to escort us out of the theater due to the fact I had my child’s stroller in the back out of the way. But he felt like it was an issue so he was very aggressive with us and numerous people came to my aide to defend me. It was very nasty and rude.

We usually go to see the old movies they show there. Some, like Princess Bride and The Big Lebowski are special events, with their own drinks (white russians!) and fun pre-movie events.

Very disappointed in the Paramount ! The artist were great ! Very annoyed that they would not allow you to record an artist ! But they had no problem with people taking seats that didn’t belong to them , blocking others view with their dancing ! I had a perfect view until security allow them to do that !

Every seat in the house is great. I have sat in the front row and in the back balcony. They are all excellent!

Beautiful venue. Helpful staff. Sound was very good at a comedy show. There are two bars in the facility to get a drink or snack and bring it to your seat.

We have always enjoyed seeing live shows here, but this time was an HD Live streaming event from The Met, and there were numerous technical problems. From speaking to others who had viewed the same event in other theaters, the problem was on the Paramounts end and not with The Met. The show was great but could have been considerably better without the technical hiccups.

The sound system is top shelf, not a single feedback. Best place to hear harmonies. Every seat has a good view. Next visit will be a Opera.

I mainly watch old movies here. Its a BEAUTIFUL space, and its fun to see these shows on the big screen

We came to the Paramount to hear the Bernstein Mass. The theater has a lengthy, carpeted (inside) ramp to the main auditorium. There are seating areas along the walls, and a concession shop where you can buy refreshments. The theater itself is lovely, and has large murals on its walls. The seating is somewhat cramped, but there are accommodations for people with disabilities.

The staff is super friendly and we thank then for holding the UVA basketball games for those who want to share some Hooville fun!

Very nice, old theater. It has all the same old details in it. Lots of gold color. The seats were very comfortable and the workers were very sweet. We had a great time seeing Oklahoma! in this theater.

I love it any time we go here. The place is great. The staff is pleasant. The seats are nice and comfortable. We have made it part of our routine to go to a show or movie at least once a month, it is our Friday night date night default. Best of all is you get to enjoy the downtown mall too. All the restaurants are right there and we can always do something different.

Waynesboro Symphony Orchestras annual performance here is always great! Peter Wilson is a very talented and personable conductor.

It it is an old theater that was completely renovated a few years back. Ive attended a number of different events there and have enjoyed every minute.

Your experience at the Paramount will completely depend on what show you went to see. Other than that, the place is very clean, beautifully lighted, and well organized.

I love this place. Always a luxurious feeling to the seats and spaces. I most clearly remember a visit during the Olympics, where everyone in town came to watch the opening ceremonies. It was a great moment to have so early on in my time here, because it gave me a good sense of what the community is: caring, resepctful, kind, and lively.
