Next time ill be back with my coworkers. the place has a nice feel to it. food is similar to a place in san francisco i loved.

First off, our server, Amanda, was exceptionally amazing! There was outdoor and indoor seating, and we had an awesome time outside. The cocktails had names that were particularly eye catching and politically relevant. Needless to say the Mueller report cocktail had ingredients that had been redacted which made it an intriguing choice. I thought it was vodka based, but our server could neither confirm nor deny. Haha. You can check it out, and let the world know what you think. The stormy daniels cocktail and fried tomatoes appetizer were both great too. I tasted the pork chops with greens and black eyed peas and thought it was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Lovely outdoor seating, very friendly and attentive staff; small but tasty menu and great prices!

Only reason I am giving this place two stars is because 1. bartender was nice while we waited for our table and 2. Because the sour beer I had while waiting was good. The rest of the staff were struggling. First of all... they only had ONE wait staff for the whole restaurant on a SATURDAY night. At first it look promising when we went in. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait, We said GREAT! well 50 minutes went by and we finally got a table. Sat there for another 10 minutes and still didn’t have waters. We left. Side note: we also were sitting next to a table that had to ask when there food would come. The food may be good, I don’t know because we didn’t try it but the service needs a LOT OF HELP.

I gave this place 4 stars. I would have given them a 5 but the waitress didnt really want to be involve with serving us. When my friend and I told her that we were from out of town and we ask what was good, she acted as if she really didnt want to be bothered with us. When my friends food was undercook, my friend took her own plate to the cook herself. The cook was very polite and apologize for the undercook meal and fixed it right away. The food was well seasoned and delicious but the service wasnt as good as we expected.

I was visiting Charlottesville on Saturday, June 13 with my family (9 of us). We stumbled on Rapture Restaurant....and glad we did ! First, they are VERY conscious of following the guidelines for sanitizing tables and chairs and keeping you safe. The food was fantastic; service was great ! There was nine of us so we tried almost everything on the menu. Highly recommend RAPTURE RESTAURANT in Charlottesville if you want a safe environment, great food, and attentive servers. Tom W.

Everything we had was just amazing and the staff was great! The pulled pork nachos were what you would get if nachos married fondue, and were perfect! The seared ahi tuna club was one of the best sandwiches Ive ever had. We will come back next time we are in town to try more of the menu.

The signature burger and the shrimp and grits were amazing. Definitely had a great authentic NO taste. The greens on the burger sounded weird but was a great pairing with the voodoo sauce (the waitress said they werent allowed to know what was in it lol). And the shrimp and grits had those yummy greens in them as well. We also enjoyed the signature Bourbon cocktail we ordered. Margaret was our server and she was very hospitable and easy to talk to, along with providing top notch service.

My partner and I came to Virginia for a few days to have fun and get away from it all in a yurt, and we should’ve just stayed there the whole time. After being thoroughly disappointed with the surrounding towns near where we were staying in Amherst due to restaurants being vividly judgmental of us and getting constant stares, we thought we’d give Charlottesville a chance since we read it’s more open to the LGBTQ+ community. Well, you can’t believe everything you read, and this was one of them. We were met with more stares although it was less, it was still very uncomfortable. We went to three different places to dine for our anniversary Citizen Burger Bar and Rapture being a couple of them. In Citizen Burger Bar we were getting looked at so often we stopped eating and left although their fries were amazing. At Rapture the lady that sat us and got our drinks was nice and we thought we’d be okay.. that’s until she misgendered me in front of other customers and my partner. We finished our one drink each and decided we no longer wanted to eat a meal there or even stay any longer in Virginia so we packed up and left. Very disappointing, will not be back. Next time a server is confused on how to refer to another person, especially a customer, maybe they should use the gender neutral they/them pronouns instead of possibly misgendering a person.

Came in and fell in love with this cute little spot! We were immediately greeted and seated when we walked in, despite everywhere else being super crowded and and hour wait! Thankfully we came, the food was amazing and fresh, the server was awesome! They will definitely take care of you here!

Nice bar located on Charlottesvilles pedestrian only downtown mall that has a great collection of beers and delicious food. Staff is friendly and always attentive to customer needs. Good space in the back to host company events

I’ve only gone to Rapture for drinks and dancing so I cannot speak on the quality of the food. However, everyone here is very kind and open, from the bartenders all the way to the owner. Plus, the location is very good and can be reached very easily with public transportation.

I got a beyond burger at rapture. It came out quickly and was delicious. Service was fast and friendly, I got multiple drink refills without having to ask. It was a very good experience, Id highly recommend them.Separately the beyond burger was just really good. Id been wanting to try one for a while out of curiosity, but it was great. If recommend it highly as well.

Ive known Mike for many years and Ive always loved to go into this place. They never fail to satisfy!

Its nice to have a place for people to go and dance and have fun hanging out with friends but there are some MAJOR updates that need to happen to this place. I love the music , drinks, and food but there have been multiple occasions that Ive been there and its so crowded you cant even move much less dance and that makes you worry about your safety there. They have an upstairs which has a few pool tables and it over looks the dance floor, but the carpet or whatever it is your walking on is super sticky and it smells not very pleasant up there as well as it being extra hot . Even though there are a few things I would change to make the place nicer its still a very popular place to go out and have fun dancing the night away with your friends!

Great staff, amazing food, incredible live music!

I ordered the Thai peanut salad and added grilled chicken. The salad was basic, the dressing oily and tasteless. The grilled chicken I added was well cooked and seasoned appropriately but I wont be back anytime soon. I mentioned how disappointed I was with the dish but the server didnt show any sign of caring enough to do anything about it.

Service is great, but I was surprised at the open racism of the clientele. Im not talking micro-aggressions. Im talking bridal party of 5 young white ladies dropping the N-word like they were recording a west side connection album.

Was told the place “wasn’t open to the public” as soon as I stepped into my friends event. I guess security didn’t think a black guy could be with the group. I actually was apart of the event but I left due to the initial contact from security. It’s a no for me from now on. Throw the whole Charlottesville town away.

An interesting business. It manages to cultivate arguably the most traditional atmosphere of any store on the mall while still serving modern food. I usually go here to play pool, for which Rapture is superior to most other establishments, so I cant really speak to the bar experience, but it seems friendly. My only complaint is that the space often feels cluttered.

The bartender just yelled at the whole bar for not leaving tips and singled out my party for doing so. We left a tip, and now I wish I didn’t. Get bartenders that are better humans and don’t expect a tip for pouring a shot. That’s not a skill.

Disgusting owner, if you’re looking for a good time, at least to go to a place that deserves your patronage. Rapture doesn’t deserve it.

I chose the Rapture for brunch because of the diversity sign out front. I gave 5 stars for the food, service and atmosphere. The grits are amazing, biscuits are magical, and eggs chesapeake are to die for. We sat outside and met a nice young couple with a rescue dog. I loved that one of the staff brought out a water bowl for the dog. There was a family friendly drag show inside and lots of little kids. Such a warm and welcoming feel. Our waiter was very attentive despite being super busy. I would give him more than 5 stars if I could!

This bar has a divey feel, with colored lights creating a nice ambiance. Quieter in the early hours, it usually picks up on Friday as the night goes on. Bar has tiffany lamps, pool tables abound though can be a bit pricey with an hourly rate of up to $13. The music selection is great and the space is very danceable, I had a fantastic time!

The music and drinks were good. We just wish theyd open up the old nightclub part more often.

Awesome food, especially the espresso chocolate torte which was the best dessert Ive ever eaten. The sign on the door about being an inclusive space was wonderful. Great wait staff, too.

Went for a cville pride event. Half of the group I was with couldnt enter because of dress code violations (I.e., a white T-shirt and tank top). It wasnt on message with pride to be arbitrarily selecting and rejecting people because of what they were wearing. My friends who were allowed to enter were disappointed by the overall vibe and immediately left. We went to Zocalo instead and had a blast.

Please do not listen to these reviews. There was news of a club in Australia with the same name that was rude to a customer complaint. THIS IS NOT THE SAME PLACE. Very clean, great staff, and a safe place to eat and grab a drink

Great atmosphere. Amazing venue for events. They have the best motto ever and really live by it love not hate. Down side is food isnt really that good and its over priced

Rapture is a mixed bag. Upstairs there is pool, downstairs there is pool, tables, a bar and a sort of dance floor. The place charges a lot for renting the pool tables but at least they have many available. The mixed drinks are meh but normal pricing and the service is pretty fast. I dislike the dance floor a lot since it is an area people walk through to get to the bathroom, and also people just have a high tendency to spill drinks or break glasses in the dance floor area which is not my scene. Tuesday is karaoke which is an absolute blast so definitely check that out, there are some very funny regulars.

Not sure what the deal is here but the girl out front of Rapture ...with the purpose to greet and welcome customers was yelling at a couple walking nowhere near Rapture with her piercing nasally voice and blue hair that its highly illegal to drink wine walking through the strip. People all around were rolling there eyes and comenting, what is wrong with this girl? Not the person I want representing my business or serving me in any manor. Very rude and unusual behavior. Makes you think the owners must know about this girls behavior. Anything thats starts out with this service never turns out to be a great experience. If you read your comments, fire her and watch your business grow.Good luck Rapture.

I went with friends today for brunch. I had Eggs Benedict with grits. The service is wonderful and the food is delicious. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available. Locally sourced. The coffee is strong - always important. We had a great time, with a lovely brunch! I would gladly eat here again.

Not a typical night club more of a country little bar in my opinion. Food was ok. Not crowded earlier in the night. Gets jam packed after 10:30

Fun karaoke, great live music

Been here three times, seen 6 fights, one a female bartender. Really?! Then, they close down early because of this. Bouncers too worried about meeting women to do their jobs and it really doesnt look like they could do much if they wanted to. Definitely a shame because if they cleaned up this mess and added some REAL security including some kind of metal detection at the front door, this place could really thrive with a great bar, great music, and a better crowd.

Great place to dance and enjoy people. The people who work there are great. Over all best place in Charlottesville to hangout. I love dancing.

I used to come here a lot because my friends like the place. But the last time I came, the wait staff was drunk,the bartender was slamming shots, the kitchen staff was intoxicated and the bouncers outside were slamming beer too.Yeah, I get it, its a bar. But when youre on the clock, and working, I do not feel safe being a customer of your establishment if youre drunk and trying to serve me things.Some of the food is pretty good, Ill admit, but usually brunch or an early lunch is the only time you will get anything edible. I was at brunch when this particular incident occurred and already most of the staff were drinking.I watched the wait staff walking over to a table, they told him that it was the wrong order and as he walked away from the table he said clearly well F you too.My order was wrong as well but I did not want to speak up for fear that said wait staff would do something to my food based on the attitude they had with the other table. Horrible management, obviously.

Good music, but if you are a young single girl, there may have been 10 guys there out of about 50 gals. So if you are a single guy looking, the choices there were many. Bartenders were fast with drink orders. Fun though.

Stopped in for an app and a drink before going to a movie. Fast and friendly service. Yummy brussel sprouts! Good wines!

Awesome food and amazing staff! We visited on the first anniversary of UTR and they were business as usual. Just want the staff to know how appreciated they are to deal with that circus!

Great food and staff

I can’t attest to the night life/ bar scene here but don’t waste your time with the food. How do you mess up a burger? I ate with 3 people and all our food was sub par. Drinks were great though. Our server was also rude, but obviously that’s one person and shouldn’t reflect on the whole place.

We were married on a vineyard just outside of Charlottesville, VA and had our afterparty at Rapture; they were just fabulous!! We stopped by the day before the wedding to give them a heads up that we would be coming with about 20 guests the next day, and they were so welcoming and accommodating. When we showed up the night of our wedding they had reserved high tops and a pool table just for us, and even gifted us a bottle of sparkling wine which was such a lovely gesture. They waved the cover charge for all of our guests, and they were incredibly welcoming of 60-something parents who boldly braved coming out with a bunch of 30-somethings late on a Saturday night. It was a club-like vibe with great music and super fun ambiance- perfect for a party! We cannot recommend Rapture enough for a celebratory gathering; they were beyond wonderful and we had such a blast!!

Drinks are over priced, but the shows and karaoke are great. And they are so amazing when it comes to things closer to the heart.

The menu is so unique, and delicious! It reminds me of a Lousiana memu; gumbo, shrimp and grits, voodoo wings. I will be going back. The fish and chips looked amazing.

Cyral charged me $7 for a $6.50 drink. I asked for a receipt and suddenly I was given a $.50 return. He planned on pocketing the$.50 change instead of giving it back to me. Was extremely shady and would not go back based on the experience.

Awesome karaoke!

Walked up on a quiet Sunday, sat outside. Wine selection was not deep, but good quality. Servers were exceptionally friendly & helpful. Food was fantastic, done to perfection, highly recommend the sausage-stuffed rock barn pork.

YUM. Fish and chips are incredible. Their fries are absolutely amazing. We love sitting outside and taking in the sights and sounds of the downtown mall while we eat. Rapture has been a favorite of mine since 2003 when I was pregnant and craved their crabcake sandwich.

The brussel sprouts alone will bring me back. The pork belly was also delicious. You can feel the love in the food. Highly recommended.

Awful. Made a last minute (but confirmed) reservation on Open Table, but the hostess said she couldnt honor the reservation because she hadnt had time to check her phone. Very weird and very rude. Lots of good restaurants in Charlottesville, avoid this one.

Great place to go for drinks and eats with friends. The music is usually great and the dance floor is always filled. Dont bother waiting in line for bathrooms- there are facilities available downstairs.

Great local food and live music!

Ive lived in Charlottesville for most of my life, and Rapture is by far one of my favorite restaurants. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the food is amazing. Their fish and chips are a staple on their menu and you cant go wrong with them. The burger is superb, and the hillbilly egg rolls are genius. Weekend brunch is the best around - their bacon is literally the best bacon ever. If theres a chefs special you should try it, and the soup of the day is always on point.

Best pool tables in town and delicious meals too.

My friend got her drink spiked there and they wouldnt accept that it happened and blocked my number.

The best atmosphere on the mall and seating outside. The bar is authenic and the staff is great. The locals are great that come here. Bartender is awesome. We came here after a rough day of driving walked the mall in chaottesville, va. The awesome place is here and millers.

Just ate at Rapture. Overall terrible experience - hair found in the hush puppies, short ribs served cold, polenta was runny and not only was the mac and cheese served cold, but I found a hair in it as well. Don’t waste your time or money.

Staff is great, foods great, drinks great but 5.00 cover for an overcrowded space is a bit ridiculous.
