During these unprecedented times, FXA has lacked the moral code of ethics to provide people with better options. I have an elderly parent I am caring for during this pandemic. I do not feel comfortable playing this summer since it seems we are seeing an uptick in COVID cases. I have asked them to use my money for the Fall with a caveat it is safe to do so. Our age and my demographic is culpable for the spread because of socioeconomic and some selfish circumstances. The refusal to fairly work with their clientele to understand the predicament we all face is unacceptable. As an aside, their refs they hire are 50/50 at best in that some of them are attentive some of them could care less. I would highly recommend you read through their no refund policy and their response to this pandemic as a stark warning for not signing up with them.

DO NOT JOIN FXA!Spend your money elsewhereThey do nothing to fix the problems with their league (Sandbagging, no refunds, terrible locations) They instead spend most of their time making excuses to the customers that call out their shortcomings. They’ll basically email you saying sorry and why they can’t fix anything then you’ll never hear from them again. Their customer outreach is a surface level attempt at saving-face rather than an actual discussion on how the league can improve.

I spent $100 to join a men’s basketball team. Refereeing is terrible. Location terrible. I was put in the wrong league. Not signing up for fxa again. Waste of money and time.

Played basketball and soccer in the league. Both times signed up as a free agent. Although there are several levels of plays (social, casual, competitive) your probably going to get a mix based on whose signed up. Can’t blame them for that. The variety of sports offered is great. You have options from basketball, soccer, flag football, bar sports, among others. If you’re super competitive, don’t sign up as a free agent. You’re better off forming your own team and signing up as a team. I’ve seen too many people take these games way too seriously. If you do sign up as free agent, like I have, know that you’re going to get a mixture of talent, so practice some meditation/patience since you may not win every game. The games aren’t going to be in your backyard, so be prepared to travel. I’ve played soccer in Centreville and played basketball in Falls Church.Luckily for me, I’ve played with some really nice people who are willing to help you understand the game, especially in soccer. This is the reason that I continue to be engaged with this league.Overall, great league. Not sure why people are complaining about refs. The games are literally games. You play and go home. Win or lose, it’s not going to impact your daily life. You’re not going to get championship rings or be awarded a fat contract based on how you play in this league. If you approach this with a super competitive mindset, you may be disappointed and will absolutely have no fun.I play to have fun, learn the game, and be active. If that’s you, then sign up.

Only two stars? I can see why. Signed up for football to join another team with my group, no Information was given on times or dates of upcoming events even after I signed up for the calendar. My profile said my slots on a team were secure, apparently not. After not putting us on a team for 2 weeks they refund our money without answering any of my questions. I called, emailed and texted NUMEROUS times and never even got an answer let alone a response other then the refund email that was sent out. A complete waste of my time.

Highly recommend doing leagues other than FXA. Other than the expensive prices compared to other places, the refs are extremely inconsistent and do not understand the sport well enough to know all the rules. They also have the worst gender rules in play that are more sexist than fair.

Best league in northern Virginia. Very good people

Unsolicited offers (Golds Gym was the most recent) are sent to the league email roster. There is no way to subscribe for league information -- such as the dates and times of scheduled games -- with being subject to spam emails.

The league has major issues although I’m not aware of any alternatives in the area. When signing up the exact location of where you’re playing is not given, probably for a reason. You may find yourself playing in a location 45 min away from the location the prior week. I guess they consider one week playing next to Dulles Airport and the next in Alexandria adequate location scheduling for a Fairfax league.Ref’s are sometimes late, but generally good and timekeepers who are also sometimes late will begin even if the ref’s are late, so you’re basically paying to wait around. They incorrectly double booked a gym for a playoff game without knowing it and had to cancel the game a quarter in resulting in a next week make up game. No refunds were given or even apology issued. It is what it is, but don’t be surprised about long travel times to playing locations, late officials, incorrect scheduling, no communication, cancelled games, and just general disorganization. For the money they charge I don’t believe it’s worth it.

Extremely disappointing experience with the volleyball league. I have played in multiple volleyball leagues and consider myself an experienced and competitive player. I signed up as a free agent because I don’t know anyone in the area. I registered for a women’s A league (the most competitive). I understand that some free agent teams can be a little “hit or miss” but when I showed up to my first game, there were multiple women on my team who had NEVER EVEN PLAYED volleyball before! We struggled to get a volley the whole game.I contacted FXA immediately after my first game and let them know that I a) wanted to switch leagues to a more competitive team or b) would like to be refunded. I was told that they would not refund me since the league had already started and they would not move me to another team. I did not return and will not play in this volleyball league ever again.Only giving 2 stars because their kickball leagues are somewhat decent. However, the reviews about refs running late, game locations being MUCH farther away than anticipated, and overall unorganization are true.

Horrible league, 0/10 recommend. My team signed up for casual, and no other teams in our league were casual. Referees are horrible and game locations are so far away. Some weekends, playing conditions were unplayable as turf reached 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Referees did nothing about that. Complete waste of money. Dont join this league unless you want to blow away and waste your money. The worst league in the DMV area hands down.

This people are a joke! I’ve been trying to sign for a team for past year and they always end up not having enough people. Then they offer you to sign to another team, just for them to tell you they ran out of slots. Joke of a league.

If i could give them 0 stars i would there refs are the worst i don’t even think they know what they doing or don’t care we had a ref checking his facebook while the game was going on. league president is also none responsive he doesn’t care about player complains so many of my team players where injured because of this and when we brought it up to him he didn’t do anything on the matter. keep in mind you pay to play in this league and is not worth it there is better league in northern virginia area that actually hire certified referees or that at least know what they are doing and take customer complains in to account.

Ive seen some bad reviews so i wanted to give my opinion. Ive played 3 soccer leagues and have signed up for another. Also signed up for basketball.1. There were refs at every game and they arrived on time.2. Some leagues I signed up for were canceled. I did have to send a couple emails to get my money my back on one occasion. The other 2 times I got my money refunded without any issue3. My emails are usually responded to in a timely manner and it seems like fxa has good customer service.4. I have only won a few games playing soccer. But most of the time it is competitive. I cant blame FXA for the talent deacrepancy, they work with what they have. I always have a good time on the field. Most refs are friendly and polite. If you are concerned about winning Id suggest making sure you are in a league with a lot of teams so FXA can break up divisions and balance talent to suit your needs. Im sure u could call and email to ensure you are in the right league.5. Fairfax county is big. Prepare to travel to ur field. Ive gotten lucky and have fields in my back yard, but Ive also traveled 30-40 mins to play.Ive read all the reviews and I dont think its fair that they gave 1 star do to friendly refs, talent deacrepancy, fields being to far, and not getting money refunded. Every time I was owed a refund FXA gave me my money back. FXA has gotten A new website and its very organized. I will continue to sign up for this league. I love soccer and basketball and they allow me to play for a reasonable cost. Ive had a great customer experience and have been promptly answered by FXA to any questions or concerns Ive had. I wouldnt shy away due to the bad reviews. Give me a shot

Poor experience. Played in the summer kickball league, signed up for Reston on Wednesday’s and then the week before we are supposed to have our first game the league tells us we either need to switch the day we play or switch the location. On top of that, I feel like they tried to squeeze all our games in since we had multiple double headers. Finally, we didn’t even have playoffs for our league. What a waste.

Terrible experience. Refs showed up late, played buddy buddy with certain teams, didn’t have a league ball, borrowed mine for the game andcended up LOSING IT. Didn’t try to find it, didn’t say “our bad”, or even offer to comp or replace the ball. Worst customer service and experience for any sports league i’ve been a part of. Stay away!

Disappointing experience. Beware of their volleyball league. There aren’t any tryouts so the beginners and experienced players play together. Nevertheless I have given 4 stars because they refunded me my entrance fee when I didn’t want to play anymore. If you are a beginner this is a great league for you.

Forgot the score board multiple times, refs had friends on opposing teams and it showed, was almost billed twice despite telling them we had paid the full amount ending up having to show screenshots of my credit card bill so they would believe me, never apologized just said something with their software must have been wrong. Not worth the cost but may play again with friends due to no other options. Seems money is their main concern and not the actual experience of the league

Poor organization. They do not answer the emails. They do not save the scores of each game, you have to do by yourself. They do not control the attendance, so many players are not enrolled. They do not aspire to be a good league, only to make money.
