Weve now gone there two years in a row for my daughters birthday. This year they couldnt give us a birthday package with a room and food etc but still gave us a reasonable price for admission and we were able to do the party part on benches right outside. Communicating with Jeff was very easy, hes very helpful.

Fun rink to play with the teams in our leagues, fairly evenly matched. Depending on the zamboni driver the ice can have some rough spots, but great place to enjoy some good time hockey!

The prices here are decent $8 for public skate. Skate rental is a separate price. They offer discounts but you will need a resident Id. The quality of the ice rink its self is what you would expect from this type of place....not great, but serviceable.

Solid place to play. Showing its age but they have a new facility coming soon!

Pa
Review №14

The facility itself is great, but the referees for young girls games are complete jerks, seemingly untrained, and unqualified to be on the ice. They need to seriously fix their training system for hockey referees. They didnt know a cross check from a slip on the ice. Get better referees!

Great practical place for hockey (probably figure skating as well). Two rinks with basic bleachers (North Rink was heated). As a spectator, I cant speak to the locker rooms, but I heard that at least one didnt have a bathroom. Spectator bathroom was nice. Sport Shop was average but there were some sweet deals on gently used items. I went in the back way, so perhaps there is more to the facility than I know?

Wonderful Ice Arena with two full size sheets of ice and plenty of seating. We were here for the Denver Invitational, a USFSA-sanctioned figure skating event. South Suburban Ice Arena has a large parking lot, however, parking was really a challenge with this large of an event. It looked like the hockey kids parents were also parking in the lot and meeting up to travel to someplace else and so a lot of the parking may have been taken by people not affiliated with the event.

Love this arena for hockey. The history that they present of past club members is a trip through Colorado hockey history.

Pr
Review №35

Terrible layout. Almost impossible to move through with other people nearby, locker rooms are basically on the other side of the rink, bad ice, skate stepping hazards like metal and wood on the benches, and terrible placement of viewing benches.

Ke

The locker rooms need updating and cleaned more often. The new owner of the pro shop is awesome! Great skate sharpening. The building is a little dated. With that being said...If you ask any hockey player anytime you can get on the ice, life is good!

Ive been going here for years, so I always have nostalgia when I go now. I think its a great arena and for years it was the only arena. Love it, I hope it stays open for another 30 years!

St
Review №38

The ice was chipped and had divets in it from figure skaters and the locker rooms didnt have a restroom and benches were too small for a full team of high schoolers to sit on with coaches. The lobby is good and had an alright snack bar. Would recommend a different rink to skate and play hockey on.

Many areas were represented here at the Denver Invitional Skating events. The PEOPLE did great, I suspect all were from Skating clubs. All of which did phenominal.Sadly, the South Suburban (I suspect tax funded) public ice rink is not very well kept up, very worn. Upkeep lacking. Sad for the thriving communities that use it.

The South Suburban Ice Arena is a terrific community resource, offering ice skating lessons for all ages, hockey leagues and games, and open skating times. It can get quite busy on weekends and holidays. The arena features a snack bar and a full service skate shop, where you can buy equipment and get your skates tuned or sharpened. There are a couple of ice shows hosted here each year, in which kids of any skill level can participate.

We skate here often. The rinks seem to be a little smaller than the ones at the FSC, but I think the ice is better here at South Suburban. It doesn’t get as choppy as fast, even on days with similar attendance to FSC.I also love the feel of the place. It’s nostalgic and charming. It doesn’t feel like a sports megaplex because it’s not. The staff are kind, helpful, and passionate. It feels like everyone there is there because they want to be, not because they have to be.

This is a wonderful and local ice rink! The people there are friendly and there is almost always one rink open for public skating. Its a great place to take your kids, get some exercise, or even have a teen date. Its affordable and local to the Southglen area, making it easy to access from most of the South Metro suburbs. So, ice fans: lace up and give it a whirl!

Your typical rink. Nothing that is pretty but feels and smells like the old days when I played hockey. There was tournament going on and it was pretty fun to watch. Public skate was nice and the zamboni driver even came out and gave me pointers on how to teach my 2 year old how to skate. Very nice people and decent enough ice.

Hate to say it but south sub is getting old. It is hard to admit because this is our home rink but most of the rinks that we visit have passed it by and are much more modern. This said ice is still ice and other than the facility itself they have two great surfaces.

Ja
Review №79

South Sub is a great rink but there are some things that are sub par. Ice is soft, not bad in my opinion and the locker rooms on the north side are good, nor great but good. The delio is a different story. The hallway is narrow so if your a goalie your screwed. And the locker rooms are pretty bad. The staff is decent. The pro shop is useless and the snack bar is a snack bar. However I cant ignore the feeling of South Sub. Just the feeling I get when I get on the ice it brings back memories of when I first played goalie. I like the burb for the history. Its a hockey barn, not much else. Not bad but it needs money to be put into it. 1st they need to improve showers and locker rooms and a few other things.

1/3 is the ice was blocked off which is fine but they allowed so many people in that it was impossible to take a few strides without almost running into someone. Then they had parents and instructors doing figure skating drills making the small skating circle an obstacle course.
