Kindness, punctuality and perfection , three words you dont often find in the Service world today. I purchased a 125 gallon aquarium and had it professionally installed by Eric and his crew. I could not be happier . Eric (owner /proprietor) was extremely kind showing me the intricacies of a sump pump filter and the tank itself. The Fish Room is where I have been purchasing stock for years as it is the best run operation I have ever seen. I cannot give a higher recommendation to Eric, Michael, and Daniel , as they are the best of the best . Thank You So Much for all you do.

Ive been going to the Fish Room for years now. We go here to stock and maintain our two freshwater tanks. The selection is very good but its a small shop so they will run out of things at busy times. The Fish Room also has saltwater tank fish and supplies as well as coral frags. If you need to, you can get water and supplies here as well. If you need help, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

During this time of COVID Quarentine, our daughter had expressed serious interest in getting a fish. Having never had an aquarium before, I did some research and then went to a big box stores andsand searched on Amazon to price supplies and tank selections. I am a big proponent of supporting small local business, so I loaded up my kiddo and headed to The Fish Room. Luckily, they had a similar setup to what I had eyed during my research. However, the gentleman could not have been more uninterested in our first time fish keeping. He never even came out from behind the counter, except when I requested he remove the until from a tall shelf. I had to ask numerous questions and wander all around the store to retrieve what I assumed were necessary starter supplies for a 2.6 gallon tank to house one beta fish. He provided next to no insights and we left with completely inappropriate decor and a tank without an adjustable current. Our new friend paid the price for the first few days. Little did he know, I would have been willing to spend more money in his store had he just show some interest in making the sale. So back to the big box retailer I went, to purchase my fish and all other supplies. Their employee was happy to spend time with me and my daughter, and answered all our questions. During this time of crisis, keeping a fish tank is a luxury expense, so maybe you should consider beefing up your sales staff!

Ive had a good experience at this store. The staff are knowledgeable and the selection of fish are good. I am a beginner, and they have helped me with some of the classic mistakes. Will shop there again.

Went to cary location to buy supplies to start a large tank. Worker guy didnt have his mask on but rudely told me to leave when i came in because I didnt have one on yet. Will bring my business elsewhere. Save your time and go elsewhere.

This place is great! They always have the healthiest plants and the best selection of fish and supplies.

Go here regularly for fish and aquarium supplies, always get help and advice when I need it, and dont when I dont. Have bought maybe 100 fish from this store and did encounter ich once, but not severe and may have been from Petco.

I recommend when picking out fish, always take the time to observe them for any signs of stress, and decide to wait a week if you are not sure. Very nice store to shop for aquariums , fish and supplies. All of the tanks in the store were well maintained and the gentleman that helped us was friendly and was able to answer all of our questions. They have a large variety of fresh and salt water fish varying from the most common to several hard to find ones.

Very neat little store. The fish and plants are displayed beautifully. We did see a bit of fin rot on one of the fish in a tank. This couldve been a newly arose problem and may be handled sufficiently but keep a look out for when youre selecting your own fish. The owner is very kind and helpful. He is sure to answer any questions you have and assist you in finding the best addition to your tank.

This is a small local fish store, but it has so many variety of freshwater and saltwater fishes. The fishes are always healthy. They have the quarantined tanks so that the fishes are healthy. They also offer a collection of live plants for fresh water as well as corral. Their price is very competitive.Highly recommended

This shop is great! They have a huge selection of fish and other aquatic life both salt and fresh water. Their aquatic plants are healthy too. Plus they have friendly and knowledgeable people. Ill be stopping by again for my aquarium needs in the future.

Lady working inside didnt try to assist me and my girlfriend untill we waited around for 15 min, and we were the only ones in the store. And to top it off that, we were hounded every 2 minutes on the amount of time we had to look around before she closed the store while i was trying to make my last minute decisions on ither fish to stick a new tank. Shes just lucky i really liked the maroon clown she had bagged up already. Prices are high and very little saltwater selection of fish and coral. Last time i will be making the hour long trip

Always have a great selection of healthy fish, invertebrates, and plants. The staff is very knowledgeable, and all but one are more than willing to help you out and share that knowledge. Unfortunately, that one staff member seems to be there most of the time, so we no longer go here. We have no desire to go somewhere just to be treated rudely when there are so many other options.

This store, in Cary, failed to order an aquarium heater that I desperately needed. After waiting 3 days I called back in only to find out that they had neglected to order it and still hadnt ordered it even that morning. They told me that they didnt have any record of the order but saw that I had called to order it. They stated they just didnt order it and didnt seem to care. The individual I spoke to didnt even ask if I wanted to still order it, he just pretty much said sorry and that was it. I do not suggest doing business with them. Especially if you have an aquarium dying and youre waiting on someone who didnt even care to submit your order

What I really love about this place is that if you have a fish that you don’t want anymore, say a red tailed shark that is bullying your entire tank, they will take it in as long as it his healthy. I don’t know if this is true for every fish but I called and asked and he said it was not a problem. Much better than the alternative. Very clean place as well.

Locally owned and nice folks. Ive got a salt tank so i always look at their salt items. Fish are always healthy. Good prices. Coral are always superior, so much so mine are growing so big im running out of room in my tank! :)

Bought two dwarf Gouramis from this store and they had dwarf Gouramis disease, I later went back to the store to confirm by seeing the entire dwarf gourami tank had visible signs of the disease, they weren’t yet like that when I purchased them but they should be doing more to keep there fish healthy if they want to sell them. I was going to purchase some neon tetras at my visit as well but I could see visible ich on half the fish in the tank. The stores tanks seem way too small and they have filter system that shares the tank water with all of the different tanks! If any one tank gets a disease the rest of the tiny tanks could get it too! Overall this location has a lot of work to do to get me to come back. However, the Fish Room in Raleigh is great! It’s a farther drive but well worth it. I have been getting healthy fish and there tanks all have their own water system (or at least far better than carys) and the tanks are twice as large.

One of my go-to fish stores in the Raleigh area. This is the Cary location and is very different than the location on Capital. The Cary location is far superior as far as staff and the cleanliness of the tanks. Have purchased several salt water fish from this location and all were healthy and passed quarantine with no issues.

Great selection of fish and the folks here are pretty knowledgeable. The owners name is Mike. He didn’t seem very friendly in the beginning but after talking to him several times he seemed to warm up. They have R/O fresh and saltwater. And their display tanks are PRISTINE. I come here for all my fish needs. Not a massive selection of hardware but their fish selection is very good for fresh and salt.

I don’t know what it is about the Tetra GloFish.. but do not get them. They’re pretty and all but a waste of your money. I got 2, they died hours later. They tried saying it’s my water but I had my water tested 3x in 2 weeks to be sure and it came back as perfect. I figured it was just the 2 fish weren’t good so I tried to give it another shot and got 3 more. I tested my water 1 more time before getting them and it was still perfect. The 3 new ones died the next morning. My other fish are doing great tho. Just don’t get the GloFish.

Come here regularly and am always pleased by the selection of plants and fish. Staff is quite, but are helpful when you need them. Good selection of hardscape materials. Fish are typically in good health. Highly recommend this location and the fish room in Raleigh.

Helpful staff, surprisingly robust selection of freshwater fish (including many cichlid species). The tiny floorspace doesnt hinder your personal experience getting around to see everything, but other shoppers can and do quickly congest the path. Prices are shockingly reasonable for what I would call a boutique aquarium store. No killer deals to note, but some prices actually beat out Petco by a meaningful amount. I was pleasantly surprised to see rope fish there, as I personally keep them and would like more people to know about and enjoy them.

Bought a Pelco, a Jack, and three Danios this Saturday, Monday morning I had three dead bala sharks and a dead pictus catfish, only visible symptom was cloudy eye. I will not be returning to this location and I advise anyone who purchases fish here to treat their water with Melafix immediately.

Wow, this store is CLEAN! Large Saltwater fish and coral colonies and frag selection. I was shocked to see how low their pricing ways. They had similar pricing to those huge online vendors and you could actually see what you are getting! Keep up the great work - cant wait for my next visit.

Brown hair algae covering front tank was disturbing. Front Tanks overall seemed dirty. Prices were a little high. Customer service was okay for me. Tanks in back were cleaner and better maintained but overall I would be afraid to put their product in my tank.

The good: Helpful staff, good prices, really nice folks. They have a nice selection of stock. Ive had good luck buying inverts (crabs,snails) there. Most of the staff give really good advice, too, though some not so much.The not-so-good: Out of three fish Ive gotten from the store, two died within two weeks and the third one developed a parasitic outbreak before it was even out of the bag. Had to fight to get them to take it back and treat it. They have a no-refund, no-return policy, but they eventually agreed to refund the money for the sick one.Yes, saltwater fish are touchy, and I understand why they cant refund every time one dies. But 0 for 3 is a pretty unlucky stretch, especially when all the other critters in my tanks are fine.Overall, I still think its a good store for a number of things, but Ill be careful buying fish there in the future.

They dont have a big variety of fish and there was only 1 person available taking care of the register and getting the fish for you. Prices are reasonable for the fish but not a big variety

Drove 45 minutes for a disappontmemt and waste of time. The store was not crowded, maybe 4 customers (myself included) and 3 employees. After deciding on what to purchase I tried to find an employee to help and all were grouped by the register. I approached, spoke to get their attention, they all made eye contact with me, and then dispersed into the store. I left without purchasing anything.I will not be returning, nor reccommending this store in the future.

I have only been to this location a handful of times, but I have found that I have not received good, consistent advice when there. On my 1st visit, I was sold a White Midas as a Gourami. When I realized the misrepresentation and took the fish back, they only wanted to give me a store credit. They also convinced me that BLack Convicts would work with my tank. This was after they knew that I didnt have aggressive fish. When I returned with the Convicts to complain that they werent recommending the appropriate fish, the 1st thing that they went to was a Red Devil which is very aggressive.The store looks nice and is in a good location, but the most important part of a store like this is the service that you receive when you are there. I hope that my experience is an anomaly, but I can only go from what I experienced.

We came in last night and had a wonderful experience. This was our first time here, we asked alot of questions, and we were assisted by Josh and Patrick. They were both extremely helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. They did not try to push us to buy stuff, and actually they cautioned us on making certain purchases due to us being new to owning a salt water tank. We would absolutely recommend this fish store and we will continue to drive over an hour just to come here. Thank you for everything, we will DEFINITELY be back!

First time into this store we were devastated by the terrible customer service. However, that was a fluke day. This is the most professional and quality fish store in the triangle. The capital boulevard location has more salt water coral locations if you want coral.

Great place to buy saltwater fish and coral and freshwater fish. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, not pushy or overbearing. They give honest advice and try to make sure the fish and coral you choose are appropriate for your tank. Unlike some big pet stores, they wont just try to sell you anything to make money.

I took my son here to pick out his very first fish pet. The staff is knowledgeable and actually cares about their fish. It may have only been a beta fish but I would highly recommend coming here over Petsmart or Petco any day. Not a huge selection but much better quality and care for their fish!

I brought a Yellow Tang from them that was in excellent physical condition in March 2017. The price range reasonable and the stock tanks clean. I will return again for future purchases.

Good selection of fish on a regular basis. The coral selection is good if youre looking for established colonies, but good luck if youre looking for frags. Also the employees do not help much in any way and I struggle to get help from them, even if I am the only customer in the store.

Excellent customer service! My 3 year olds pet fish died. The Fish Room employee went above and beyond to help me find a similar looking fish and purchase it (while my son was there but without him seeing). They did a great job!

I can hardly give this dump one star. He had water that he KNEW would wipe out your tank which he kept selling and wiped out my tank, killing all my fish. When I went to talk to him, he denied having a red algae bloom and all his fish died as a result and denied having to get all new fish. He was extremely rude and you can only get store credit anyway. It wasnt the money (ive spent over $1,000 there), it was the moral factor. So if you go there, be prepared for your tank to crash and all your fish to die and not get one cent returned to you. I NEVER leave reviews like this, but I want to protect anybody going in there from losing their fish and their tanks.

I drove 30 minutes to this location looking to add to my freshwater tank. As I was looking around, I noticed that at least a 1/3 of the freshwater tanks had fish infested with Ich, and other diseases. I believe the majority of the fresh water tanks had at least one dead or dying fish in it. I decided I wasnt going to take the risk of buying from there and that I would drive the extra 30mins to a better store.One good note was that there was a female staff that was polite to me and asked if I needed any help.
