If you like trains this is a must see as it has information about the development of the railway across the west. A lot of Carson city history as well plus their role in development of the city and related business. Rail cars and engines can be seen, some inside and out. A ride around the property is available also.

This is a great place to see old historic steam engines in action. The people here are very friendly, you might get to toss some wood in the firebox of the Glenbrook, probably ring the bell and get a tour. So many good places to catch a great shot. There might be a food truck to get some food from but this is the absolute BEST place to take anyone of any age to see these locomotives..

This is the 2nd state train weve been to and hope keep visiting more museums. The gift was amazing and the the staff was extremely knowledgeable and willing to teach us all aboit the trains and stations. Their passion was really strong and were able to learn alot while we were there. If we are ever in town again we will ride the train for sure.

Some really cool locomotives and cars here. The Mckeen car is the last of its kind, and was really cool to see. Some of the locomotives I had definitely heard of before and that was an added bonus. The car from Europe was nice because it added variety and wasnt a piece I can see every day. When I went, they were offered handcar rides (obviously not right now), and even though I had a broken arm, I was allowed to stand on the car while it was moving. However, there was some stock that I couldnt see in the shed, and it wouldve been cool to see that too. I just visited again today and saw the 25 running and the McKeen outside. Great museum.

Wife and I went; $16 to walk around 5 rail cars in a non air conditioned building. The surrounding train station and outdoor RR cars were neat. Not near as much information as some other buildings we visited. Im not sure if this is because of the pandemic or what but it didnt meet expectation. Best part was probably the gift shop.

A super cool museum that we stopped by on our way home from Tahoe. The items on display are very cool, but it felt a little abbreviated. I understand that they do quite a bit outside but nothing was going on the day we were there. I still recommend stopping by though!

What an amazing little gm hidden away! This is such a fun place to visit with or without children. They offer a train raid for a minimal fee and it is so much fun - maybe 20 minutes in total in a real train! There is also a group of people who love trains and offer a ride (again small fee) on a miniature train around a track.

We went right before Christmas and took our 3-year old & our 10-month old. I believe the train that gave rides is one of only 2 or 3The trains are decorated for Christmas. Santa and his helper boarded and rode the train, which thrilled the children. Santa & helper gave candy canes to passengers. Inside the museum are refinished beautiful old steam engines. We will go again.

Very good recently renovated museum. There are things to see inside and outside of the main building. Our boys (2 and 4) liked the kids corner with wooden train table and the locomotive model where they were able to go in and ring the bell, turn the knobs and pretend to be the drivers. We were there on Saturday and the works behind the main building were open with several couches to walk in and a fun handcar ride.
