The good: The rooms were very spacious and fairly well maintained. The offer free breakfast but I did not have it. The restaurant in the casino was a pretty good value. Very affordable and tasted better than expected; everything was undercooked some but the prime rib was defiantly worth the $15.The bad: The casino was tiny. Only a handful of slots and 4 tables total i believe, with not a single player at them on Saturday night. I didnt see anyone cleaning the gaming area while there. The staff was unaccommodating for everything but bare minimum. Came across as rude to me. Will not be staying again

Transparency/clarity statement: this is a review of the RV park not the hotel/casino!Ive stayed at Gold Dust West RV park many, many times over the last four+ years of owning a travel trailer. It definitely falls into the category of RV park that was built before todays super-sized rigs but its workable. We can unhook and park the truck perpendicular in front of the trailer without encroaching upon anyone elses space -- as youll see others do as well. It is tight for our 52 of equipment, though. Plus, theres plenty of nearby overflow parking if you need it.The desk staff is friendly and helpful. They often have to be apologetic for the facilitys maintenance issues -- rightfully so. Incredibly simple things like damaged electrical towers and missing spigot t-handles are not addressed in between our frequent visits. So you have to know which sites have issues in advance or stop by and inspect them before committing to a site if you dont want to have to move multiple times to find one with everything in working order. You will deal with noise from the freeway and access ramp. Thats just the breaks you have to put up with for the location. Thats a little more aggravating if you like to enjoy outside time like we do. Inside our trailer, the noise is largely a non-issue.I give them good marks for amenities. If you need a fitness center, they offer it to the RV park dwellers. And being someone who has to do physical therapy constantly, having that space is a major bonus. I dont need their weight machines, but I do use the treadmill in bad weather and having access to a decent amount of floor space to do my other exercises and yoga is really nice. The bath-house is *always* immaculate so high marks there. The laundry facility is clean and tidy, but prices are a bit on the smart side for the small, old-school, clunky, agitator washing machine offerings. But they do work and its convenient. Not having to schlep to a laundromat is a big deal. The location is good, especially if you know Carson. Its very easy to get to everything Carson City has to offer. The taqueria across the street is brilliant and walking distance to groceries and good food. But if you venture over to Centro Market just east the freeway, Ill vouch their tacos are better. Tractor Supply next door to GDW has a great supply of dog food and propane so you dont have to go far for those supplies. The Grille in the casino is a nice respite from RV meal prep. And the pie is damn good.Overall the park is really good but not great when considering the slightly-high price given their maintenance issues and limitations. Bang for the buck is the bottom line, right? Given the limited options in the Carson City area, I still feel GDW has the best value and set up. Solid but not perfect. But far better than the other nearby parks and without being as far out as Reno or Minden. So in spite of a few challenges, its still my go-to as a full-timer/former-local who has our house-load of crap stored in the area that we need to visit and manage on occasion.

Right off the interstate and price was right. Extremely friendly lady checked us in. RV sites are tight but we were only there for one night. The dog walk was small and half of it was muddy. Ordered dinner from The Grill and food was ready fast to go. Tasty food and the order was correct. Not sure we would stay again.

We are currently displaced due to a gas line issue with our home. We have been staying with Gold Dust already 7 days. All is good, happy with the free breakfast items, staff are all friendly and accommodating. No issues. My only complaint would be the stiff bed. I figure if that’s my only issue we are doing good. I’ve personally watched the staff clean continuously. They do temperature checks at the door. I’m not a fan of all the Covid procedures, but if they want to be open they have to comply. The place deserves 5 stars from us.

Nice large clean rooms. Noise and cigarette smell were two issues. Noise in the hallways and neighbors. I could hear an alarm go off, shower running, toilet flushing from the next door neighbors. Wonderful staff. Large big screen tv with plenty of channels. Great location. Room was nonsmoking..but just opening the door you could smell the smoke. Not use to that in California. Nice prompt breakfast included. Would stay here again.

Review №29

Room smelled like cigarettes but I suppose that is to be expected at a hotel and Casino. My wife had to wait 10 minutes to get temperature che k as part of covid rules. Short lady with black hair was too busy to help so she had to wait for other guests to be checked in for a mere temp check. Bed was OK. Food was good and well priced. I would recommend a non-casino hotel if just visiting area and not wanting to gamble.

The mask patrol was on HIGH ALERT the entire time i was on the casino floor if i let my mask slide just a little on my nose she was there. Sir.excuse me you must cover your nose I get that at your job and like I told her she does her job very very very well when you smoke a cigarette in between hits of the cigarette you must return the Mask 2 above your nose I was so worried about the mask sliding off and getting yelled at that I didnt even notice my bankroll shrink faster than my patience level so then I laughed good by gold dust

Convenient pull-in parking for rvs. Fairly roomy parking lot, adequate for a short stay. Hookups are good. Maintenance a tad shabby with need of some re-paving of some sites. Bushes, grass along fences and trees could use some cutting back. The trees do provide nice shade and improves overall appearance. We thought the Gold Dust West was most accommodating. My only complaint would be terrible WiFi and therefore many visitors are cranking up their portable routers. So there was a lot of second hand signals invading our space, which we feel sensitive to.I’d definitely recommend it for an overnight to a few days, not longer. We did not use the casino because of Covid-19 precaution. But we felt safe at the RV campground.

Stayed there with a golf group. It was terrible. If you like smelling like youre living in an ash tray, then this place is for you. The rooms were so outdated, felt like it was the 70s. To appease all the cigarette smoke, they put big fans everywhere ( like they could contain the smoke)...lololo .At best this is equal to staying at a Hotel 6.... if you want medicore at best, then this is your place. I had to put a damp towel at the bottom of door, to try and prevent smoke from coming in. If I could give it a minus, I would!

Ordered two pot roast grilled cheese sandwiches to go with two sides of the San Francisco garlic fries. Received two sides of garlic bread and no auju. If you look at the menu it completely explains what comes with the dish and auju is on the side called to get a credit for both since by the time I got home it was completely ruined and the manager explained to me from now on you have to ask for auju since it doesn’t come with it. I explain to him it’s written on the menu that it comes with it and he said yeah that’s not right he just gave me a credit for the fries since I got charged for the garlic bread that I didn’t want. The manager on duty that handle this does not know anything about customer service or restaurant management. Completely incompetent! First terrible experience at The Grille

I have been staying there now for about 10 years off and on. The rooms are great, the staff is awesome and they all go out of the way to make you feel at home. I have been booking golf trips through them and they do an excellent job. They arrange everything for you. Just tell them the courses you want to play and theyll get your tee time, give you a variety of rooms to choose from, arrange everyone in your groups stay and provide a very nice, hassle free experience. All you need to do is show up. I just came back from my most recent weekend there and it was just awesome!

Great food at the grille. I go there often and normally enjoy myself. I was waiting on the casino floor waiting for my Mom to come out of the bathroom so we could leave. She comes out and I stood up to put my jacket on but I was wearing a hoodie so I put my hood on so it wasnt stuck under my jacket. Hadnt even gotten my arms down and a security guard rushes up and tells me to take my hoodie off. I told her I was just putting my jacket on and she completely disregarded what I said and told me again to take my hood off. As I was leaving, she puffed up her chest and glared at me. Think twice while putting your jacket on at this casino, if you wear a hoodie you will need to walk out with a hump on your back until you can get outside to get your sweatshirt hood from underneath your jacket. Food is good at the grille though.

Do not come here with your RV/travel trailer/5th wheel unless its under 30, and your toad/tow vehicle is the size of a Fiat.We have an F350 DRW, a 40.5 fiver, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee scout vehicle. Their spots are only 45 in length, with nowhere else to park your vehicle if your rig is over 30. We had both parked in the dirt next to our rig, as we have high dollar items in both of our vehicles, and didnt want to take the chance of having anything stolen. When we arrived, the paperwork states not to park in grass areas. Seeming as there was no grass, only dirt in the area next to us, we thought it was safe (see picture). Security came last night and told us that I had to move my Jeep in the morning (which we did) however, the truck was fine seeing as how large the truck is, there was no other place to park it. This afternoon a very rude lady decided to very curtly tell me that the truck has to be moved. I explained to her what the security officer told us last night to which she replied that she didnt care, and we were given the rules at check in. I agreed with her, and explained that it said we couldnt park on the grass, and there is NO GRASS where the vehicle is parked. I moved the vehicle into the casino parking where I have no idea if our items will be safe since there are no visible cameras in the parking lot (worked at a casino for 6 years, and know what to look for), and I cant wait to get out of here. Horrible experience, if I could rate it lower than a single star, I would. Neighbor told us theres an RV park 2 miles up the road with HUGE spaces. Go there, and stay clear of here!
