Love this beach. Very nice wide areas of sand and shallow out into the ocean for a good distance making it very safe to splash in the surf. Cliffs to the East help block any signs of the city making it feel like a beach island far far away. Very safe and relaxing. Bring the kids, dog and your towels. Stay a few hours its beautiful and very fun for your whole crew.

The perfect place for a serenity walk and to watch the sunset! Tides can be high sometimes leaving no sand to walk.

Love the beach. It bring the calmness in you when you heard the clashing n wave of the ocean.

We enjoyed our time on this beach. It was the only one with parking when we arrived in town, so thats where we went! There are a lot of rocks at the high-tide mark, but the sand is great once you get past those. The beach was clean and not too crowded.

I love this beach!!! Lets all try to keep it clean and be thankful for what this planet has given us. A good place to remind yourself of the world we live in and take a good rest from whatever you were doing. Its peaceful and not crowded like other beaches. The smell of the ocean is great and the rocks are nice. Love the mini cliffs. Just be careful when you go in reverse to get back to the main road. Have a good one fellow human!

I gave this a 2 star due to the fact that google lists this & individuals claim this is a dog beach park. It is NOT NOTa dog beach friendly park, and sadly nowhere in Carlsbad has a beach for dogs. You would need to go to Encinitas, Oceanside, or other beaches that have the specific and posted notations as dog friendly. Please correct the mistake that Carlsbad has dog friendly beaches. They do Not, what they do have are dog parks with no beach access.

I call this our natural beach. It doesnt have a sea wall like Tamarack beach or Carlsbad City Beach to the North. I like to walk in the surf below the cliffs heading toward the power station. It is beautiful. However, there are no showers to clean your feet before putting shoes back on.

LOVE THIS CARLSBAD BEACH!!! Parking is Free!! And less than 100 yards from the water. They also have a bathroom for one. And Lifeguard on duty. So, if you have kids you might want to stay relatively close. The river rock and large boulders give this place and Awesome Ambiance. Not a deep stretch of sand but enough to have room and build a Sand Castle! Have fun and make memories! GOD BLESS!!

My daughter, a niece and nephew and I enjoyed the beach that week. It was another beautiful sunset!

Clean and warmer water for kids to enjoy and swim. Lifeguard is present at station #28. If there were sand washer stations around, it would be great.

I love the carlsbad cliffs. Be careful of loose bluffs though, it can be very dangerous to stand at the edges. Overall, the view is nice on a good day, and its peaceful coming to enjoy the waves and sunsets.

You need to walk north a bit to get away from the rocks. But then is nice and quiet.

Visited on a cool November weekend. It wasnt busy on the beach but parking lot was definitely full. Lots of open space this time of year which is likely less crowded then the summer time. Pretty standard crowd including some photographers shooting during sun set. The parking lot is just off the road, so youll likely experience traffic throughout the day.

If youre looking for a beach to kick back on the sandy coast this aint the beach. Of youre looking for a beach to surf youve got the right spot. There were plenty surfers last week. Hope you enjoy yourselves.

Beautiful beach! Watched the dolphins swimming in the surf and the whales spraying further out to sea. The kids had a blast and Id definitely recommend this as a fantastic family vacation spot!

Great Pacific Ocean beach experience for the family. Warm waters and large expansive coastline for the kids to play. Pull off and park and climb down a medium grade embankment and you are there. Nice sand and waves. Perfect for the kids.

Nice beach... today there was a lot of seaweed on the beach which is always disappointing. RV park right above, so great place to Glamp. Nice wide beach with gentle waves heading south on the beach.

To many rock city of Carlsbad needs to keep the beach cleaner and the public restrooms could use a better up grade

Beautiful views and the seashells a d assortment of rocks to collect is definitely fun. Cant wait to add them to my aquarium.

My go to beach. It’s beautiful, small, clean and generally not crowded . Only, I wish dogs were allowed (on a leash of course). I found out after pic was taken. Local surfers can be territorial & rude occasionally. Eh, I live & pay property taxes here too so I smile & ignore em. There’s an overlook where you can park & get s beautiful view of the a Pacific Ocean. People often eat their lunches & couples take engagement photos frequently. Overall beautiful beach!

North Ponto Beach is beautiful. There is a fantastic view from the parking lot on Carlsbad Blvd. There is a public restroom there in the parking lot. You do have to walk down an incline from the parking lot to the beach itself. Surfing is popular at this beach.

I loved the beach it was fun with the kids easy to access and the parking wasnt bad.

It was a lovely beach, the sand was nice, the sun was bright, and it was fun to spend the day in the sun. However, I suggest you bring shoes, as there Layer of rocks before the sand that can be a bit harsh on the feet. Other then that, it is a perfectly lovely, standard beach, with all that entails.

It was really nice in the area just happen to be playing hooky while at work. I took a video of the coast to show the GF what I was looking at unfortunately I cant post here. If I had known I would have taken a few pictures. I cannot stand the feeling of sand in between my toes but I think I may have suffered through it just to walk on the beach and kick my feet in the waves.

Beautiful day on the beach for our Polar Bear Plunge.

Visited in January. Hardly any people. This is always a plus. Was rather close to the road for my liking. Otherwise, not bad. Would have made the the experience better if I brought a cup of hot coffee or tea. Was rather chilly, had to use a blanket.

Parking is hard to find but thats true with almost any beach in the summer. I couldnt find a clear path to the beach so we had to traverse down a couple rocks to get to the beach. Once we were there it was nice very few people on the beach and it was a beautiful day.

Its a great local spot to visit around sunset! The views of the coastline are worth it, get there early to find a parking spot.

Beautiful point on the way from Los Angeles to San Diego! We reached there around sunset and got a chance to see the beautiful sun set view from this point. Very clean and well maintained beach area, comfortable park g spots available for the public. Do plan to stop by this place if you are traveling on this route!

Its a nice beach

Its an absolutely beautiful beach even on an overcast day. the only problem is there is not enough sand and when you go down to the beach you have a lot of rocks to climb over and then in the summer theres not many places to lay down a towel because the high tide comes right up to the edge of the rocks and the road.

Its nice and relaxing, theres nice access to the beach, parking space near by, theres a lot of pebble rocks along the beach but theres plenty of cleared sand.

This is a nice beach area. There are lots of rocks and sand area t play around. The wave is good for surfers. Parking is free and there is a lifeguard tower close by. It is very beautiful. Wood bonfire is not allowed only propane. It is a must see. There are lots of shopping are just a drive away so don’t forget to bring snacks and chairs and enjoy the scenery.

Small beach with stones or smooth rocks. Good for a quick dip in the ocean. Not very crowded, good for spending some quality time with family and friends.

Nice, but the beach is full of rocks in the winter time. Summer time has much fewer rocks but never a huge Sandy area. Campgrounds are directly to the South. Fairly large parking area , but just do not expect a large Sandy Beach to play on.

Love to watch the dolphins that often show up in the morning and dusk. Pretty even mix of surfers, swimmers, paddleboarders and fishermen makes it a popular spot.

This beach is a really nice beach to each the sun set.

Ponto is a great little beach, especially on weekdays when youre supposed to be making sales or running errands.At high tide, you should make sure all youre stuff is up on the rocks because Ponto disappears.

Less crowded than a lot of other beaches but less useable shoreline and quite rocky.

North Ponto Beach, aka dip in the road as known by the locals is a nice surf beach with several breaks. There is a bathroom here with very basic amenities.

Very nice strip of beach although a little rocky during winter months. Come spring with some new sand its first rate with afternoon breezes.

North Ponto is my happy place. Cliffs and a mostly rocky beach make for an awesome walk or just sit and take it all in. Enough sand on a low tide to bring the kids too.
