My boys love The Science Center! The staff is happy to show them the animals and talk about their care. We hope to go back when they finish the dinosaur playground!

Great exhibits for children. Needs exhibits built by SIU organizations. Only need a little more care and beautification. Being in the mall it would be good to ensure no children can go out on their own but as always parents must supervise their children. Overall it was a good 2.5 hours of fun.

Probably the best place, though there arent too many options unfortunately, for toddlers and young kids in Carbondale. Highly recommend getting membership...it pays itself in no time :)

Fantastic place for kids. All my kids absolutely adore this place. Seems to have a lot of different this to learn about and play with. Always clean and well kept. Enjoy the different animals that they have as well as the sand box section. Great indoor place to be and does not charge an are and a leg to go.

An awesome place for kids!! They have free admission on Thursdays. They also take the ASTC PASSPORT. We are from TN and are doing a science center tour for fall break and this one is the best so far in my opinion! The water in the river/dam exhibit was a little dirty, but otherwise a great place to check out with the kiddos. Its inside the mall, so if you are out of town like me, thats probably good to know before you try and look for it.

Great place for kids. We are members and go there at least once a week sometimes 2 or 3 times a week. They have a home school class for kids once a month and sometimes have animals there for kids to interact with. They also have special events and adult events from time to time. I highly recommend the Carbondale Science Center.

My son has a lot of fun here. They offer a lot on a small budget. Glad to support it!

Small but appropriately priced and well done considering the size of the town. I would recommend for younger children.

So many activities, and for a wide age group. You can even have Birthday Parties there. You cant hardly really see and appreciate everything in just a single visit. They have fish, turtles, rabbits, & iguanas. A dinosaur fossil sand station, medical/dental station, grocery store, train, space shuttle model, electric programmable piano, shadow figures, suspension bridge, WSIL news desk area, tornado demo, earthquake demo and so much more. It is an awesome place to spend some quality time with a child.

Definitely not worth the money. Half of the attractions were not working or not wheelchair friendly. I, or any of my friends/family, will definitely never give any more money to this organization It only got 1 star because i cant do a half a star.

Pretty run down, but a fun place to kill time. My toddler had fun, although we were sad to see so many animals in a not well state. They looked a bit neglected and the place overall felt dirty and not well kept.

Great to take my daughter who is dyslexic and possibly has Sensory Processing Disorder. She just loves it and shes 9 and even my 13 year old son will go.

I’ve been a member for years and it’s really only a refuge for adults, when you can sit back and relax and enjoy a covered cup of coffee. However, they have a strict no-coffee policy for adults. I’m reconsidering my membership. Children need alert adults.

General manager was very rude to my grandkids who are very well behaved and mind very well and he yelled and made one cry. Either he was in bad mood or hates kids but whichever is no excuse to hurt childrens feelings when they are there to have fun!I do not recommend going when Its his shift but if someone else works then Id say it might be good place?

Had my sons birthday party here and I cannot recommend it enough! It was great for the wide range of ages we had at the party. Staff was great, and everyone really enjoyed themselves!

Staff was great and not only did my kids enjoy it, my husband and I did as well!

Great place who cares about children learning science with hands on fun activities! My kids love this place!

We love it here. My kids could spend hours here. They live running around exploring and I feel safe to let them do just that. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, too. They have so many cool things to do here. I wish it was closer to home! We would definitely be there more often if it was. Also, it is so cost friendly. If you live close, I recommend the membership because it would pay for itself in no time. Side note: I have attended parties here before and they rock!

Its the best thing to do when your in the Carbondale mall. If you have kids and you love in the area, then you need to take them through there at least once a month.

This is an absolutely great place to bring kids and to be a kid yourself with all the fun experiments. They had a shadow wall where you press a button and a bright light would reflect your shadow and it would stay on the wall for a while. We end up having the whole family there and friends with at least six kids for a couple hours. I highly recommend getting a membership as then you can go visit other science centers for free

Excellent interactive learning center for children! The staff are very friendly, the exhibits very interesting and informative, and the location is great (right in the mall). The Center sometimes hosts special events, such as the monthly Science Cafe (usually the last Thursday of each month), which is an hr long educational lecture about a specific area of science, featuring a guest speaker from the area (usually SIU staff). Tons of fun for the whole family! Highly recommend.

Little find while on a mini vacation. 3 year old had an amazing time.
