Went to an open gym at this location and I spent $16 person to come in. Immediately I realized that the gym was over crowded and and under staffed, there were points in the night where there was not a single staff member in the gym. It became a very dangerous environment to tumble in. Would not recommend bring you’re child here. Staff was very disrespectful and have very poor communication skills that wasn’t an argument.

This is a top-notch gym with competent, caring, and attentive coaches that provide a safe and clean environment to develop the gymnasts’ skills. The owners use a combination of team training coupled with one-on-one specialized training, focusing first on safety and proper techniques. The success of these methods are measured in local, state, and regional competitions where Tropical Twister gymnast’s talents really shine. I’m proud of all the gymnasts and in awe of their dedication, determination, and abilities they demonstrate. What I’m most proud of is that the gymnasts care for and support of each other, not overly competitive. This is a positive culture that is rare in the gymnastic industry and can only be attributed to Tropical Twister owners’ vision and experience.I feel fortunate to have the high-caliber coaching and positive culture that Tropical Twister provides.

My son usually goes to the Ninja classes, he loves to go to the gym and has a great time with his classmates. Unfortunately, the new coaches have no clue as what their doing. The class starts at 6pm on Fridays but they are never ready and make the kids wait. In addition, they have no class structures, the kids don’t even know what to do, where to start from, they are loss, specially the younger ones. Coach Nicole used to scream a lot but I can honestly say, she was the best coach and knew how to engage the kids, she kept them focused and motivated. So sad to see a good gym in such disaster.

They are nice and coach Nicole is the best! My girl was happy there! I just took her out! Because I don’t agree with the coaches that are coming in now! For u to teach at school u have to be a teacher! So I think that for u to teach gymnastics u have to have a good background not a 12 year old or just girls from high school!

I’m very very concerned parent that watches how the owner itself talk to the coaches in a certain way that the coaches will feel some type of way .we’ve noticed that anyone that leaves they are rumors that are passed around about that person .But overall i have a 3 year old child and my child always wanna come back to tropical twister the coaches are amazing . My child loves it .I keep my 3 year old child at the gym because she happy with her coach and that something I can’t take away from her .

Overall very happy with Tropical Twisters. My daughter looks forward to her classes every week. The class size is small which allows her to be active more then waiting for her turn. She has been with Coach Nicole now for about 4 months and we love her! My daughter began at 3 years old, now 4, and her class is a mix of 2.5 year olds up to 4. Coach Nicole has control over her young class. She keeps them busy and entertained while still managing to improve their skills. She makes it a point to come out to each parent after class to let us know what she did in class and why as well as to give us feedback on how our children did.

LOVE THIS GYM!! Our 5 year old daughter has been going here for almost a year and a half and she LOVES it. I personally have seen her make a lot of progress with only going one day a week. The coaches make it fun for her and she is always excited to go to her class. Mike and Lisa are the owners and are super sweet to my daughter. If you are looking for a gym to take your kids to I would highly recommend this gym. There is a parent seating area where you can almost see the entire gym through a one way window. They also have mommy and me on Fridays and Saturdays.

I bring my 19 month old daughter to Tropical Twisters on Friday mornings for Mommy and Me. Its an affordable, indoor morning out for us, which is rare to find in SW Florida. For $5 for an hour or $8 for two hours, kids can interact in padded areas with mats, pads, cones, hula hoops, balls, trampolines, and even a foam cube pit. I love coming here. Cant speak for the real gymnastics classes, but the staff at the front desk is always friendly and the young women keep a good eye on the kids for safety. I recommend this to anyone with young kids wanting to socialize and burn off some steam in a safe environment.

We have really enjoyed Tropical Twisters. I have been taking my son for 2 years, LOVE the boys class on Friday evenings. Perfect way to round off their week and let them get out any energy they have left. Works out great because open gym is the same night. The staff and coaches are knowledgeable, friendly and caring.

Would highly advise against this gym for the toddler class, as it wasnt a fun environment for these young children and put the kids at risk of getting hurt. My son is 3 years old and didnt enjoy the class, as the other children didnt either. My son and other would walk away from the teacher crying, as you could see her having off conversations with these kids that were obviously not age appropriate. Not one child smiled in the entire class and was more timid of the high school girl teacher. The teacher was constantly rolling her eyes at these little 3 year olds, and looked really annoyed at these toddlers that are learning their basic motor skills. She would rush them thru skills, grabbing their arms inappropriately and never smiled or applauded the toddlers for anything. An age appropriate behavior from a teacher at a level with toddlers should be encouraging them to have fun while learning new skills. I spoke to the manager the first class and spoke to her about my concerns and she said she wouldnt be their teaching the next class due to school starting back up. The following week the high school student teacher was there and to my surprise and frustration she was teaching again. I watched from the window with the other parents and asked out to other parents saying is this how she always is with the toddlers? The parents said yes, and thought they were the only ones noticing her hostile behavior towards these little ones. One of the parents said they complained 10 minutes ago as well and was told the same thing I was. That day I spoke to the manager again, saying the same thing and she said thats not acceptable and that she would be teaching a class the following week. As I was speaking to the manager my toddler left crying and found him walking unattended across the beam area where practice was in place from another class. He couldnt been hurt. The following week came and I called in the morning to confirm the class and the gym was closed. I left a message saying that we signed up for her class today and to call us back if there was a schedule mix up. 2 weeks later, I still have not received a call back. Not very professional managing. I was a gymnast growing up and on team and I would like these kids to be excited about learning gymnastics and enjoy the sport. There shouldnt be children teaching children. A certain maturity level needs to be in place to teach young children. Teachers should have the patients and enjoy working with kids. I witnessed toddlers going across the floor and beam area unattended while older kids are practicing in those areas. This is a very dangerous situation and a big no no in a gym. The children need to be escorted off the floor or ask their parents to get them to avoid someone getting hurt. Safety was not a concern at this gym. I witnessed the summer camp class as well which had about 15-20 kids in one class. There were 12 or 13 year olds teaching this class, so there wasnt much of an age difference between the summer camp kids and the under age teachers. As you could imagine, these young teachers had zero control over the kids in the class. This was another situation that was putting the kids at risk and their was zero structure in this gym. The young girls teaching the class all seemed overwhelmed as they should feel. The maturity level wasnt there (as it shouldnt be at that age) thats needed to keep the kids safe and the class organized. I wouldnt want my kids in a gymnasium with equipment unsupervised without an adult all day. The manager was also very overwhelmed as Im sure its due to having no adults around to manage so many kids. It was a zoo and unsafe.

Honestly, we were happy with Tropical Twisters for quite a time. There were always issues with drama at the gym, but we just figured what do you get when you put a bunch of young girls together...Well, over the past year as weve come to know the owners, weve seen things that caused us to question the things that were going on at the gym. Weve noticed that anyone that leaves the organization, gymnast or staff, the owners start passing rumors around the gym about that person. I now believe that much of the drama in the gym is caused by the ownership. This is my opinion, maybe you want to go and find out for yourself...So in October, we checked out another gym, Southern Starz. What a breath of fresh air. Ive seen no drama thus far. My wife told me that she saw some start with a few girls and the owners handled it before it exacerbated. They are extremely professional. Theyve even gone so far as to tell us they dont want to hear dirty laundry from the gym were coming from (not that we were interested in bad talking Tropical Twisters, but Im guessing others have in the past). Our daughters last day at Tropical Twisters was October 9th, and we had paid through to the end of October. The owners claim that we signed a contract stating that we would pay for a month after our daughters final month of gymnastics. So even though we paid through October 31, they are trying to bill us through November 30. I refused to pay for services not rendered, but now theyve turned us in to a collection agency. Ive politely tried to get a copy of this contract from Mike Johnson (owner) but he refuses to give this to me. He claims that I need to retain a lawyer and have my lawyer formally request the contract from his lawyer who he is unwilling to give me contact information on. How do you deal with a person like this without hostility? In addition to this bill that theyre trying to impose on us, weve added up other charges that we are eating already, a few meets we paid for that are coming in January/February, team fee, music fee... for a total of $1,100. Ill eat the meets that we were stupid enough to pay for prior to leaving even though I guarantee the owners got that money back or hadnt submitted it yet, but I wont pay money for services not rendered. I will be contacting the collection agency, based on my attorneys advise, and disputing the charge in full.My advise to you. If you like drama and plan to NEVER EVER LEAVE, this may be a good gym for you. The owner, Lisa, is a pretty good coach. They tend to go through coaches quickly and hire folks who are unqualified (high school kids often), but overall, I think my daughter has gotten decent training there. Cost has been high, but I think thats true wherever you go. Where were at now is a bit less expensive, but not enough to feel the cost was excessive. Good luck to you in your gymnastics life!___________________________________________Update: 2/9/18After consulting a lawyer, we went ahead and paid the month (actually 1 month and 22 days, but 22 days wed already paid) for service not provided. We signed a contract 1 year and 6 months prior to pulling out of Tropical Twisters stating that we were bound to the TT Policies. The TT Policy states:If you withdraw your child, regardless of reason, you will be responsible for 1 month of tuition after withdrawal. Please provide written notice of withdraw.I find this unethical, since in this case were being forced to pay for services not rendered, but Im told its legal practice. Checking with other gymnastics clubs, it seems that this is not standard practice. Ive spoken to others who have left the club and this is commonly a major point of contention. My advise to the owners, remove this policy as it always causes a pain point in your relationships. But hey, not my business. Some thrive on adversity...

I love tropical Twisters I totally disagree with Erics comments! They never talk about parents badly whem the leave i think it’s totally distasteful that Eric would say that we all loved their daughter the only thing they ever said is they were sad that they pulled their daighter and Eric putting your business out that why is just terrible when its not true! The head coach Lisa has gotten my 9 year from a level 2 to a level 7 in just 2 years! The gym is amazing and the drama doesn’t exist they way he is claiming if you want a national rated judge/past gymnast with tons of experience this is the gym for you Lisa is the best of the best! I went to other gyms! They had so many girls my daughter had no one! Mike and Lisa are the best they have become family! I wouldnt trade them or any gym for anything! And by the way Eric if you guys hate the gym stop showing up at everything just to cause issues! Your just hurting the girls!
