This is not a huge place, and its a little hidden behind SpaceXs launch control center, but its still definitely worth the time to visit. Nowhere else have I seen a history of each launch center all in one place with pictures, exhibits, models, along with docents and guides that have lived here, worked here, and can answer anything you can throw at them. Thanks for a great time.

Im a history nerd and loved every minute of the FREE (donations accepted) Sands Space History Center. It is not a huge place and you could easily see everything within an hour. But I recommend taking your time and learning all about the history of the space race and seeing the artifacts and models. Be sure to visit the gift shop also! Lots of cool things to buy. I got myself a Purple SpaceX t-shirt. I LOVE it!

This little museum is a hidden gem. Its right behind the SpaceX building outside the South Cape Canaveral Air Station gate. There is a wealth of information and some really cool static displays including an almost-new re-entry vehicle (only used once) and the actual mission control stations from historic launch sites on the cape. If you can get access to the cape, or pay a little extra on the Kennedy Space Center tour you can even make it back to the missile museum on Cape Canaveral proper. but if you cant you can sate your appetite for space program history at this little museum.

Awesome little museum staffed by volunteers. Our guide was a retired NASA veteran who worked on the ISS and was so friendly and knowledgeable. What a pleasure it was listening to him share his experiences with us. He literally walked us through the entire place and explained every exhibit. The gift shop is beyond reasonably priced as well!

Only a tiny museum, it did have rocket parts and control systems from historical launches arranged in chronological order. A volunteer who had worked on the base gave us an enthusiastic tour of the facility. In contrast to the amazing and expensive Kennedy Space Center Visitors Center, this place was free and only had a few guests. The volunteers were happy to spend as much time talking and answering questions as you like.

This is a free museum that focuses on the role of Kennedy space center/cape canaveral air force station in US space exploration history. Small but detailed, with a small gift shop selling current mission patches. Definitely worth going a couple of times, especially if you are a space buff. This can be boring for children and the less geeky out there. Again, this is on space history in the area; do not expect interactive displays and a wide scope of interest.

Don’t miss this museum! Artefacts, pictures and videos displaying the long timeline on rocket and space development at the Cape. Rocket engines and things you canzone touch. Friendly staff and nice gift shop too.It looks like it’s beyond the security gate but it’s not. Just go past the badging office and make the first right on Poseidon Ave. Then the first left on Spaceport Way. The museum is behind the SpaceX offices.

A small but great little museum. Organised by launch pads. It reinforced what I learned from early space tour at tour at KSC. Worth a couple of hours if you’re a space geek. The gift shop at the back was nice and had some Falcon 9 on a drone ship t-shirts. The receptionist was a rocket geek too and offered lots of great info of the local area and where the drone ship docks. Yes, bonus to find the Space X LCC next door. Notice the warning sign about tailgaters.

This is a great place, it has a very good history of all the Launch complexes, why they were there, what they were used for and significant events that happened from each. Fascinating place. If you really are into space you cannot miss this place. Very informative, very engaged volunteers running this center will accompany you through most of the US space history which took place at the Air Force base and not at the Kennedy Space center. Dont forget that most rockets are still launched from the base.Last but not least the little shop is a real gem with a selection of very interesting books, DVDs, memorabilia and more. And if you wait some time you can even meet a SpaceX engineer with his Tesla at the car park ;-)At the center we were also informed that there is a museum within the Air Force base and that twice a week they offer a tour of the launch facilities, but you need to apply at least two days in advance to get your clearance in order to get access to the military area. We regret we visited this place on the very last day of our tour!
