The BEST aircraft museum Ive been to. Admission is free, and the place is huge. I need to go back now that the 5th hanger is open. The only aerospace museum I enjoyed more was Kennedy Space Center...but only because, well, rockets ...hard to beat rockets. The Air Force Museum has a very large collection of both civilian and military aircraft, from the first days of flight all the way to stealth and drone tech. You could spend 2-3 days in there if you read and did everything.

A great place to see the start of the US space program. This museum is located on the Cape Canaveral Air force Station. The location has plenty of parking in parking lots outside the main buildings and in the area. There are two main buildings and a park outside the buildings. One of the buildings was the original firing control room that has much of the original equipment, a tribute to women in the space program and, now, a gift shop. The 2nd building has static displays for the local area, Cape Canaveral, a V-2 rocket and a space capsule. You can walk around outside the buildings in the large open field that has several of the pieces of equipment used to move and launch the rockets. Many of the rockets have been removed from the park, repairs and restored and are now residing in Hangar C but there is still one rocket on a stand to the south of the park. This is an older museum but a must see for anyone that is a space program fan.

Fun place! Amazing collection of historic items and equipment. Putting some of the actual details in plain sight informed me and helped me understand what I did not know about all the safety risks EVERYONE faced to launch the Redstone rockets with Mercury capsules...!!! AND...and both the rocket & capsule were much smaller than I had always imagined.

That is a 5 star review if youre really interested in the space program and history.my only complaint is the tour doesnt allow enough time at the launch building/muesum. There were a lot of displays and lots to see but not enough time. The docents were excellent with real passion for the space program

This museum is only accessible as part of the Early Space Tour at Kennedy Space Center. USAF employees may access the space at other times. The tour is an additional $25 to your Kennedy ticket, but well worth it! Depending on weather, youll have about an hour with a tour of the launch pads, the rocket park and the blockhouse where the rockets was launched from. The tour also includes visits to many of the other launch pads, so if youre a Space-buff its a must!

A must for hardcore space enthusiasts! Well worth the effort, cost and extra time (allow 3+hrs) to see the early Cape tour on Cape Canaveral AFS. NASA bus guile’s was very knowledgable and all our fellow passengers were highly engaged and enjoyed the tour. The AF Museum docent was quite enthusiastic. I will say he made several erroneous statements (repeatedly pointed to Mercury-Atlas pictures and said it was a Gemini-Titan, and stated that the thrust of the V-2 rocket engine was provided by the turbine) but he was really nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Be sure to walk out to LC-5 where Alan Shepard’s Freedom 7 launched from. True historic landmark. Due to the various structures degrading in the harsh seaside environment, many of the other LCs are not accessible anymore such as the Mercury-Atlas LC-14 and the Gemini-Titan LC-19.

Cool place, though it all static exhibits with lots of reading. Young kids will likely find it boring as there is nothing hands-on to do or see.Get a guided tour if you can though, the docents are mostly people that have been working in the rocket program 50+ years and have incredible hands-on experience in the history of the space program. Their experience and stories are invaluable.

Nice to see the old block house and firing room equipment. A few old rockets and missles out there that you can walk around to see. They are all in need of refurbishment, power washing and painting. Also an old engine sitting on railroad tracks. The place looks run down but still worth a visit to see some of our early rocket and space history from that time period about 1950 - 60. Im giving 4 starts because the place needs lots of refurbishment. The place seems to be almost forgotten about. Very, very few visitors.

Our family recenty did the Behind the Gates - Early Space Tour. It was a great experience. Our 15-year-old son who is a history buff really enjoyed! Our 8-year-old daughter was also very intrigued and not bored at all! It was an exceptional tour, and we were blessed to have Robert Graveline as our guide. His knowledge & personal stories at this historic museum were priceless. I would highly recommend taking an afternoon to see a piece of space history! Please note because you are going on an active Air Force base, you need to go through extra security. It wasnt clearly defined, and we almost missed the bus tour because of not being properly checked-in. If you purchase a Behind the Gates tour, you need to wait in long lines when you first arrive at the Kennedy Space Center to make sure you are clear to go on the tour. In my opinion, on a level of 1-10, the KSC team handled at about a 4. That was a little discouraging for busy families on the go who dont have time to read all of the fine print or wait in long lines. However, the bus driver, bus guide & Mr. Graveline more than made up for the incident after we departed from the KSC.
