What a delightful and educational experience here! Kim (Sparky) was a wonderful tour guide! She didnt just know every animals name but everything about them and you can tell she and all the other workers we encountered along the tour, love these animals and take really good care of them. You can see most of the animals pretty close up and if youre lucky theyll even sing, roar, howl, etc. for you - that is an amazing experience. Cant wait to visit again!

We just got back from the Animal Park and I just had to post a review. We did a private tour for my daughters 5th birthday and it was awesome!! Worth every penny. I know everyone says this, but you can get so close to the animals it is surreal. The volunteers were so knowledgeable and very patient to answer every question from parents and kids. We even went at 1pm when the animals are less active, but the tour guides used treats to make sure we could get up close. My only complaint is that I lost my cell phone signal so I had to exercise my brain a little to get back to the main roads. Other than that, it was the perfect birthday.

We are long time fans and visitors of the Conservator Center. We have always loved the fact that they take so much pride in the care of their animals. When you visit, you get your own tour guide who will tell you the great stories about how these animals were rescued while providing a wealth of information about the animal characteristics as well. They interact with them as well which is something I have never been able to experience at a zoo. These experiences are far superior for the visitors and we will continue to return as often as we can. I urge everyone to visit these amazing animals. If you love them enough, adopt one!!!

The gift shop had a lot af reasonable items and the staff was very friendly and professional.

Every one in NC and the country needs to visit this sanctuary of endangered animals. I have lived in Burlington for 20 years and never knew this beautiful place was 25 away from my house. Its a small place where they keep and care for rescued big cats and wolves. It is very Educational. Shri was our guide and he is very knowledgeable about the center and the animals. To me IT WAS IMPRESSIVE to see a few Lioness, Lions, Wolves and a Tiger (and other animals) just feet away from me. Their size is IMPRESSIVE. it is so different than watching on TV. Please visit and support this location in Burlington, NC. This is definitely something to do once in a lifetime, if you are not able to visit Africa or India. Like me!

I enjoy bringing my daughter to parks around North Carolina where she can learn about science and wildlife. The Conservators Center is one of those places she keeps coming back to!Her favorite animals are wolves, so when we go we all start howling so theyll howl along with use. The tiger is HUGE and its so cool to see the staff feeding them right in front of you. Just watch out for when they give the lions catnip!!!!!

The animals here have plenty of room for exploring and exercising. It was amazing to see all the cats they have. And even better was how close you can get to them!! It was a rainy day so not all cats were out playing. But the lions were. The tigers were. The wolves were. Our tour was led by a highly knowledgeable guide named Schri (forgive my misspelling if wrong). He is a volunteer yet takes time out of his life to share his passion for these animals. An amazing man, an amazing place. Do go, should you be in the Greensboro NC area. You wont be disappointed with your visit. The highlight for me was when Schri got the lions almost roaring with a specific call he does. Incredible. Many many thanks for doing what you and sharing it with the world.

Its been a while since I visited, but basically everything about this place is great. Its not a cushy place like the NC Zoo or Greensboro Science Center, but more of a raw nature experience. The only thing separating you from some big and interesting animals is a thick wire enclosure. There are small holes cut in these enclosures for use during their special photography tours that I assume they still offer and that I really want to do one day. I took a consumer camcorder with a long zoom and I was able to capture some very nice close-up video through the normal mesh holes, which the people with me also appreciated as they could see my camcorder screen and enjoy the shots while I made them. If you have anything with a long zoom available to you, bring it! Youll be glad you did.

We love the Animal Park at the Conservators Center! After years of going to tours and events like the Pumpkin Prowl and Tree Toss, my husband and I were excited to join the Wild About Wolves program. It has been an amazing experience getting to watch their wolf pups grow up and learn more about wolves and animal behaviors in general. We fell in love with the whole pack and ended up becoming lifetime adopters for one of the wolves. Unlike a zoo where you just get a certificate and a photo, the lifetime adopter program at the Animal Park lets you really get to know your animal; bring them treats and enrichment, and get private time with a docent who can tell you more about your animal and the park in general. We have been so impressed with how knowledgeable and passionate the staff is, and how welcomed we have felt since the very beginning. Our trips to the Park have become a bi-monthly treat, and I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting to try something new in the area or as a place to bring family or friends.

Took our family (boys 4 and 1) on a Sunday in early January for the Family Friendly tour. The keepers were explaining to me how they put a lot of effort into enrichment and socializing the animals and it shows - they weren’t just sleeping around while we stared at them. Most of the singing dogs, wolves, servals, lemurs and lions were engaging with the group and being friendly. The a highlight of our tour was the guides “talking” to the pride of lions - check out this video! Super unique experience.

Great alternative to the zoo or the lemur park (which is busy and overpriced with a long waiting list). This place boasts a number of rescue animals (lions, small wild cats, lemurs, tigers, wolves) and the tour is totally worth the price. Ask for the lions to oof -its their way of communicating with each other and being a few feet away and hearing them talk to each other is amazing. Its also very educational. The indoor exhibit has lizards, snakes, and a very large rabbit. Their gift shop is reasonably priced and goes to a good cause. Highly recommend. The Conservators Center is a truly wonderful place to take the family, go on a date, or see by yourself. Take a tour with a knowledgeable guide as you get to stand just a couple of feet from lions, tigers, wolves, cervals, and many other amazing animals. On every tour they do an oofing with the lions where the guides roar like lions and then all of the lions join in. To stand 5 feet from a lion as it roars is truly amazing. And the sound of ten or more lions all roaring back and forth at each other is something you have to experience. It is especially crazy sounding when the wolves decide to join in with their howls from across the complex. The mix of lion roars and wolf howls together is one of the coolest things Ive ever experienced. The Conservators Center is doing a lot of good for these animals so give them a visit and have an experience of a lifetime.

We visited for Pumpkin Prowl in November, and I thought long and hard before posting this review. The first thing that struck me about this facility is how much the staff truly cares about their animals. It was evident from every staff member that spoke with us. It was great to see enrichment in the enclosures, and with the exception if the wolves, I did not observe any animals exhibiting stereotypic behaviors (pacing, excessive grooming, or other repetitive unnecessary behaviors linked to boredom or stress from captivity). However, I was shocked to see that guests were allowed within 4 ft of animal enclosures. There were no stronger barriers than chain link fence. I witnessed a staff member who was escorting a photographer through the property take the photographer directly up to the first chain link barrier. At one point, approaching a lioness enclosure, she said we can do this one, but I know she is going to charge me and on another occasion I dont know this animals behavior at all. After returning home from our trip and researching the facility, I discovered the news of the death of an intern earlier this year. Unfortunately, it was not suprising. This facility is not safe. Their website makes a claim to the unaffordability of an AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums) accreditation. However, the AZA would never accredit this facility. Class 1 animals (predators that can kill you) would need a minimum of 2 barriers between enclosures and guests. Solid walls, glass, and other impenetrable barriers, or large moats would be considered safe. Not chain link fences.I see so much potential in this park, and it is sad to see that they obviously do not place an emphasis on the safety of their guests.

On Dec. 30, 2018, Alexandra Black, an intern, was fatally mauled by a lion here. It took approximately 4 hours to recover her body. The staff were unable to subdue the lion; tranquilizer guns were not quickly available. Caswell County deputies shot the lion.Since that time, the Conservators Center has answered no questions about this tragic event, surrounding itself with lawyers. The lion was not rabid, but its rabies shot was not up to date. What else hasnt been checked and kept current? Fencing? Safety procedures?Given the Conservators Center cover-up, unaccredited status, appalling silence, and lack of transparency, I strongly recommend that you avoid this place, for your safety and the safety of those you love. Until they disclose what happened that day and take steps to prevent it from ever happening again, the Conservators Center should remain closed and no one should visit.
