Learned so much regarding acting at NYFA, there are some magnificent teachers. BIG shoutout to Dig Wayne! He is a genius in acting and is a outstanding acting mentor. If I were you I would request him as a teacher you will be forever grateful you did!

Don’t even go there. They’re just a money making business who accepts everyone so they can make money off of them. Don’t fall for they’re perfect school stuff. I applied there as a senior and then they told me in the acceptance letter that I had to give proof that I graduated high school if I didn’t already then when I confronted them after declining. they made up an excuse and said it was confusion in grades but that couldn’t have happened because they knew the year I was gonna graduate.and tried to suck me back in so I was basically lied to twice from my point of view.Don’t even apply there or go there at all. It not worth it and some other college would be better.

I just took the class last night and can only wish Id taken it after buying my DSLR over a year ago. I learned so much about my camera and what Ive been doing wrong for the last year. Lindsay was our teacher and her knowledge and passion shows in her instruction. She has a fantastic wit and her enthusiasm is completely infectious. Shes extremely quick to help with everyones questions and was able to show each person their settings if needed. She covered everything a beginner photographer would want and need to know. I cant suggest enough that new DSLR owners should take this course, its worth it and more.

NYFA is not accredited with “CHEA” as their website mentions chea logo, they are accredited with NASAD though which is only for arts and design schools not for “Film Schools” and had recently been removed from CHEA as higher education accredited org., so they should basically change name to New York arts and design academy” from film academy!NYFA is Not even accredited with NEASE.

NYFA is a scam, do not attend this schoolAll it does is take thousands of dollars with a YouTube type education teaching students off free videos.

Our young daughter attended the Film Making and Acting programs and absolutely loved every minute of her time with NYFA. The instructors were incredible and fun. They learned so much and met kids from all over the world. The learned Premier which was challenging and engaging. The only area of improvement with her experience would be in the material you leave with. You won’t get a good useable clips for reels. They files you get are very rough. And you could hear traffic in the background of the taped monologues so those couldn’t be used. We give NYFA a thumbs up!

I had the best team ever for my 4 week acting for film course!! It is intense and you have to work your ass, but it is fun and exciting when u are passionate about it and have great colleagues. I loved the instructors, they are professional and know their stuff. Overall, a memorable and productive experience!!!

I recently enrolled at NYFA in La. The entire staff is amazing. The environment is very friendly and comfortable. The enrollment /registration process was extremely organized. I had the opportunity to work with Eric, he was my enrollment Counclor; he didn’t miss a beat. I relocated from Illinois to attend NYFA, Eric assisted me throughout the entire process. The other staff members were just as helpful from the moment entered the campus. The instructors are all working actors, and very knowledgeable about the industry.I’m sorry to hear about the other students bad experiences, however I believe that everything is what you make of it. I’m here to learn and I’m confident that NYFA is the best place to learn my craft.

NO PARKING or regard for any of the community or neighbors. They scam international students and take their $$$ then they get deported a year later. They rented out some office buildings and are trying to run a school out of them with no actual college/school accreditation. ITS A SCAM. I think Harvey Weinstein must have been one of the first backers of this operation. DONT DO IT.

This will be a rather lengthy review but long story short its a waste of money.Disclaimer: I was kicked out due to excessive absences. Take that as you will, this was back in October and Ive waited to post this so I dont come off as a sore loser who is just mad about being kicked out.First thing is I had about 8 acting teachers and I respected only two of them. Bob Lipton to date has been hands down the best acting coach/teacher Ive ever seen even against coaches and teachers from other schools. The other 6 were garbage to say the least. Had super ego issues that reeked of since I didnt become a famous actor i dont want to see anyone else become one and they should never question my methods. Almost got into a physical confrontation with Mark Ivan who I backed off from because I didnt want to go jail. I have a short temper, but I manage to keep nothing more than words 99% of the time but this guy was ready to fight. I could see the look in his eyes. All of the class saw it and was shocked. He was among the worst.Paying 30,000 for a year... listen, if youre fortunate not to have to have a special visa to be in the US please please please go to local acting classes. The only advantage this school has is that they take you to the backlots on Universal to work. If you can afford to just blow 30k to do that, than this place is for you.Another thing I noticed and I have nothing against actors/actresses from other countries many foreign movies stars are my favs, but a good majority of the ones who went here just seemed like they wanted to come to the U.S. to party and didnt really have any ambition on pursuing the industry as a passion. Two of them I knew even admitted they were more interested in psychology and for some odd reason thought acting would help them in that field.I cant say whether or not thats valid, but what I can say it seemed they were almost always out partying and not focusing on their work. Now I have been going through some serious personal issues that caused me to miss quite a bit of class so one could make the case that Im not the one to speak about that to which I would respond, rather simply, fair enough. But I feel I can say this and the school had told me I couldnt miss as many classes as I did the first semester in the second which I didnt plan on. Little did I know they kicked me out because of low GPA which they should have known about when I was told during the first semester I was put on academic probation for missing too many classes. Well, you cant really go back in time and make up acting in films that have already been shot. So my grades were obviously going to be bad. So to me, I wasnt really given a true second chance.Either way, before they even told me about this, I was already upset with school because I didnt feel like it was worth the money I was paying.Another thing I did not like is the fact they taught you editing. You can go around all day and say its good to know editing but Im not paying you to teach me how to edit, Im paying you to teach me how improve my acting techniques. They had additional classes such as stage combat and meisner that would have been much more helpful but you couldnt take those classes because youd have to miss your primary classes if you wanted to. So youd either have to wait a semester(six months) and just get lucky that your classes wouldnt fall on the same day and time the side classes were or you were SOL.Well, I hold no ill against NYFA. I chose to go there when many other seasoned actors and directors I knew told me not to waste my money and I refused to research into it, but before you decide to either commit to a student loan or fork out cash, please do your research on this school to see if its right for you and ask for a list of all the acting teachers so you can look into them as well. If youre a true passionate artist who loves acting, youll save yourself a lot of time, resources, and money and if you havent figured it out yet because youre not familiar with Los Angeles, youll need it.
