We were renting Eveningstar Cinema for a private showing of our made-in-Maine indie feature. The owner and stellar staff were incredibly kind and hospitable throughout the entire process. The theater is cozy and has a great selection of films it shows. This place has character, the people have heart. Proud to have this wonderful place in this state. Cant say enough good things.

My spouse and I have seen two films here so far. We try to go as often as we can. This place is fantastic. Great beer, reasonably priced concessions and tickets, a cozy indie atmosphere. They tend to play arthouse and other movies that go under the radar. When turnout is lower, they pull out old sofas to sit on. Cant recommend highly enough.

We went with a small group to go see a film that was not in the other theaters. The staff are friendly but the inside of the theater is older and the seats werent very comfortable.

Great small theater. They show lots of really interesting alternative movies. The snacks and drinks are also reasonably priced.

Support your local cinema! They have big squishy chairs and couches. Best popcorn with a bunch of free toppings to choose from.

As a 62 tall person, the seats are really uncomfortable. they used to have couches in the front rows that were comfortable, but those are gone now.

Very good (indie) movies. Terrible (grainy, diffused, gray colors) projection system. Hope this will be corrected with new owner. This comment may now be out of date. I understand the new owner has installed a better screen. Ill go check it out.Revisited the theater. The new screen is an improvement. No longer is there the grainy texture that diffused the light. The color, however is still too dark and gray. Shadows are not black, instead shadow areas in the image are pools of gray without detail. Perhaps the projector needs a stronger lamp. The new owner seems intent on upgrading the whole experience. I hope all these problems will soon be remedied.

Small room, has space for wheelchairs, and had old couches in front. I pushed one forward to get knee room. $2 for can of soda, $4 for small popcorn-pricey- but I had a coupon which was nice. Lighting seemed to glare on the film, sadly. Movie embarrassed me, was glad to slip out the exit almost straight to the street. Bohemian would be the kind description.

Amazing, small cinéma. Its a one screen movie theatre that shows a different movie each week. There were a couple of comfy couches in the front row. Theres a small concession stand before the Auditorium, but the place is also connected to Wild Oats if youre looking to grab a bite.

So much charm in this theater! The owner is very hospitable and does a lot to make the experience enjoyable for his customers. Go see something there! I saw a beautiful film that really inspired me.

Its been a convenient theater to see avante garde movies. Unfortunately, theyve replaced the old worn chairs with traditional movie seating with absolutely no spacing between the rows. Be prepared to have your knees jammed or pity the folks who need to get out of their seat to exit a row and pass someone seated in the row. If youre taller than 56 dont go.

I love this theater. Great films you will not see in the main stream theaters, friendly staff great popcorn. .. but the seats even after the recent upgrade remain a problem for any one tall, wide or with bad knees. Some of the seats rock backwards and hit the knees of the person behind you.

My favorite theater anywhere! The front-row couches make me feel comfy, warm, welcome, as if I have my own private screening room. The owner, and his dog, are delightful. The movies almost always top-rate, and the prices are from the 1980s.The owner is trying to open a new theater, which will not be as conveniently-located, but will have more than one screen. He promises to keep the couches.

Not a fan. God forbid you end up in the first few rows- there are only sofas instead of regular theater seats. You will be squished next to a stranger. The popcorn is stale and tasteless, and you have to pay a dollar to add flavoring. I recommend going to Regal cinema instead; there is a larger variety of films. One redeeming quality of Eveningstar, however, is that some older movies are shown here, but Regal often has numerous vintage movie nights.
