Its a gift shop first, then a bug display with a room full of snakes and lizards in the back. Its cool to stop by here on the way somewhere, but I wouldnt suggest making this your final destination. Its very small and they sell mostly chachkis like toys, small books, pictures, ant farms, and butterfly larvae. Its mostly over-priced novelty junk you can get at the dollar store, so be prepared for your kids to ask you to buy a $10 geode or $12 lizard hat. We bought a $4 butterfly larva, being the frugal people we are and named him Harry, but I dont think he survived the trip home in the hands of an eleven year old boy. R.I.P. Harry. We ended up with a raise your own butterfly kit and a small ketchup cup with a dead larvae, or grain of rice, I couldnt really tell. All in all, cool stop, fun for kids, interesting insects and stuff, leave your wallet in the car.

The Bug Museum is an amazing experience for all ages I highly recommend it to anyone interested in bugs or homeschooled children field trips for schools or anyone just looking for something different to do you can buy live butterflies and watch them go through the stages of their life you can go back to the reptile room and see all of the wonderful reptiles and snakes is amazing and awesome my kids love it and everyone we have taken loved it they do wonderful things for certain holidays especially Halloween and theyre a wonderful part of the community and Im so glad that theyre here and that they share everything that they have to offer for free admission and bring a couple dollars to buy a couple of treats to take for yourself support them because they support our nature

While this is a cool place, with a lot of information, and all of the enclosures are kept clean, the husbandry for many of the critters is not great. The geckos in particular upset me. The tokay is in an enclosure that isnt even a quarter of the size it should be and has one small plant in it. The crested geckos are in the same set up, but there are two of them. I love the idea of the place, but I wish they would get their critters in to set ups that are more suited to them.

I had low expectations for this place, but it was actually great. It had a surprising amount of bugs and even had a reptile room. There were well written placards that give fun facts about the animals. It took me about 40 minutes to read everything and enjoy the exhibit. Great for kids too.

Visited with our three grandchildren, ages 4,7,8 yesterday. Its now their favorite place to visit. Theyre still looking up pictures of Ssssstella and talking about what lizards eat. Well worth the 45 minute drive from Bainbridge. Also making habitats for the critters they bought from the gift store. As I retired teacher I rate it very highly as an educational experience.
