Tried numerous times to book tee time on line.Could not get the web page to work so had to forgo the discount and call for tee time. On line the price was $29.99.At the course we were told it was $49.99.We questioned ladies inside and were told that rates went up December 1st and the reason we couldn’t book online is because it was so busy.I have checked the site today and the price is still $29.99.If you can’t manage your website then remove it or update.We did get a response back from course they said they checked their website and it was working fine.If they did why is the pricing the same. We did not appreciate being blown off by the staff and feel totally ripped off.If you advertise one price online and then charge $20 more when you get there that is a total rip-off.We do not recommend this course and will not be returning.

Great course, and an even better price! Fee time before 8am and got the play the back 9. We didn’t have anybody in front or behind us the whole time.Updating this review after coming a second time. I left my wallet inside one of the carts and was very stressed that I would not find it. The entire staff was so caring and worked so hard to help me look for it. Everybody who works here was so kind and put so much effort in finding it. Lou, who works with the carts had checked all the carts for me and we finally found it. I wish I could rate the staff 10 stars! I will definitely be coming back here to golf as many times as I possibly can!

Greens are very good. Course has improved greatly in the last 3 months. Insure of the the price but...nice track.

Course not in the best condition, no senior discount. Very friendly staff outside, older lady inside can be rude. RUDE. Reasonable price, just ignore her and go play. Driving range turf sucks.

On vacation and had the chance to get some golf in. Great course! Friendly staff! Saw lots if wildlife......alligators, snakes, raccoons, and birds. Course was busy, but speed of play was still good.

Had a great time, not too crowded this time of year. The course was in good shape but a little soggy due to TS Eta Im sure.

Wonderful staff especially Deloris! Makes great hotdogs; however, today the hotdogs were different. Wish they would switch back to the plump and flavorful hotdogs we have always had. Golf course is great! Keep up the good work

Fairways are in good shape,not so much for greens they are a bit patchy. Most fairways are wide and forgiven a few add a challenge. Staff is helpful.

We enjoy playing at Manatee Country Golf Course. Its always busy but the staff does a good job on keeping play within the 4 hours round.

Course was okay, But the older lady working the counter was incredibly rude to the point were she tried to turn away customers who wanted to play extra 9 on an incredibly slow day. Feb 22, 2019. We went to get drinks on the turn and she put her hands up and said bye like it was a hassle for her to do her job!

I have played this course multiple times. It has great potential, but unfortunately it is very over priced. The grounds have never been in good or even ok shape. My last two times I was told that the course was being worked on and yet I did not see any changes. It actually looks worse and to think I payed almost 40$ for 18 holes. I will NOT be coming here again unless it is for the range.....

Public courseNice, easy enough.it was right after all the rain we had. So some of the greens were messy....I loved seeing all the wildlife as we moved along the course..they use gas carts..completed the course in under 2:45..stuck behind some man shooting several balls.but it was quick play

Groups are spaced 7 min apart.Way too close together.Foursome in front of us hitting multiple balls off tee boxes. Got to hole 4 after One hour and a half. REALLY!! Just ruins the whole game for everyone else.

Despite the fact the ranger told us to have the cart back by 530 - he comes out while we were finishing #17 at 5:08 and says bout time to wrap it up guys. Assumption is we were last ones on the course and he just wanted to go home. Clearly, we were on pace to have cart back by time indicated. I will not go back to this course as a result. Greens are beat up too.. not worth anywhere close to green fees.

No mention of range closed anywhere on website...arrive at course with sign posted “range close”. So much for the awesome practice facilities mentioned online...should probably update. Huge Waste of gas/time

Played for $17 on a coupon. Checkin was smooth and efficient. Fairways were acceptable. Greens sloooooow. Played in 3 hrs, 15 min as a foursome. Good layout, but a bit ragged. Great carts.

Course was in good shape! Well done to the team. The only problem I had was 7 minutes between tee times . We moved decently after a few holes . Sometimes less is more would be my only suggestion. With out waiting on the tee you can get more people out. Booking online saved a couple bucks , which definitely made it a good value. Keep up the good work folks . I’ll see you next year.!!

I really like this course. We play as a family and it is fun, but very forgiving it works for players. Of different ability levels. It is a great first course for our golf weekend

Judge the course for the recent reviews, not the past. I have no clue what changed with management or ownership; however, we moved near this course a year ago and I can assure you this place is way better than its reviews from the past show. The staff is great and the course is really starting to look great. Bang for the buck, its probably the best deal in Florida. Word or mouth must be spreading as its starting to require reservations, good for them. I miss being able to walk up anytime any day; however, I appreciate a well run business and whomever has taken control has done a great job.

I have been playing this course since the 70s. My father, 2 b-i-ls, and I used to enjoy playing here each summer. Since my father passed away in 14 and my eldest b i l is no longer physically able to play , etc... My eldest son and I enjoyed playing today and it brought back so many memories of times past .Thank you Manatee Co GC for allowing us to continue our family outings and make new memories which will last a lifetime !

Staff was extremely rude. We had a foursome and Played 9 holes in 1 hour 53 mins, and was asked to pick up pace. On the 9th green while i was putting the ambassador walks up directly behind me (5 ft) as I am putting for birdie to tell us to pick up pace of play. I have never had this happen before or even heard of it. Needless to say we left after 9 holes but was awarded our money back for his actions. Course did have a good lay out but fairways were in sub par condition and greens were in very poor condition. There are too many choices for golf in the area to go back

Played 18 yesterday. The course is in the best shape in a couple of years. Greens are coming around and in a lot better shape. Fairways were excellent and tee boxes had grass. Keep up the good work. Also staff is excellent! ️

We love coming here when in the area but we were behind a group of 8 young men playing together. Held up the course. We had to start on the back 9 to save time and keep the game moving but having 8 play in a group?

Cant believe they charge $26 for this course. The greens have bunkers on them. Terrible. They should give us free rounds for golfing today.

If you go to the website the rate clearly reads $29 after noon but when you call them they quote $33. I asked what the discrepancy was and there was no answer just told no, thats not the rate, its $33 we booked a tee time and headed to the course. It was packed as the weather was fantastic! I went in the pro shop to check in and explained to the nice young lady the rate online is what she should honor. She replied with, thats not the rate and she made a note to check the website $4 isnt that big of a deal but with my wife and myself and tax its $10! $10 times a packed golf course is just robbery! Bait and switch is what its called where I come from! The tee boxes are shaggy and unmaintained but looked pristine compared to the greens. There are courses charging less and providing a better experience! Its not fair to hit the green and know you have no chance of making a put because of the grass being a half inch long and the ball going airborne 2 or 3 times before it gets to the hole. I hope the money they generated today will be reinvested into the course so people in the future wont have the experience we had! Kindly giving it two stars because of potential but grading it on todays conditions ... Would be a big fat ZERO!!

Just got done with 9 holes and very happy. Nice new carts and very fast greens. Fairways and teeboxes in pretty good shape as were the bunkers. Very reasonably priced and it seems like a happy staff. Will be back.

Friendly staff, reasonable rates. Course fairways are nice, greens have just been aerated so still a little bumpy, and roughs are ROUGH. But its always a fun course and I have a good time hitting the wide fairways (occasionally).

The employees they are fantastic

Its a great little course. Challenging enough, decent fairways, ok greens. The biggest issue is that they book way too many people and the play is slow. Ill be back because I like it, but I wish you could address the playing speed. # 1 issue. Otherwise, really nice golf course.

Greens need to be rolled. Fairways are in horrible shape and needs a lot of sand in the traps.

What a difference a year makes, course is much better than last year. Prices depend on time of day. Mornings are about $54.00, early afternoon around $40.00 and evening around mid $20. range. Carts appear to be well maintained. After heavier rain there will be standing water around the course. Some construction on going on certain holes.

Good public course. Was in amazing condition for the weather that preceded our visit.

I have been a of owner resident of Perico Bay Club seventeen years which is within five miles of the course. When i first started at the county course I joined the senior league which played twice a week. The course was operated and managed by the county. We never had any complaints about the condition of the course or the practice ranges. When Pope Management took over the operation of the course condition within a couple years started to go bad. It got so bad that many if not all my golf friends refused to play there. The neglect is a disgrace to our beautiful county course. We joined a league that plays at River Wilderness an enjoy the course and the association. They had Pope Management come in, after one year the association let them go. The County should do the same. Bring back the County Management and operations. Make our tax money worth the value.

I gave it a 4 star because it really isnt bad for what it is. Yeah the greens and the tee boxes are normally not the best of shape and even sometimes unplayable. Like one reviewer said that is typical for most golf courses in Florida from April-August. However the course is challenging and forces you to use all aspects of your game. It is a county course so it is open to the public which is why it is always so busy and doesnt look like Augusta National. I would recommend if you dont want it to be busy go in the afternoon when it is scorching hot or late afternoon after 3:30. You cant complain about a long round of golf when you go to the course when everyone else is there. Typically it is the older crowd is holding up play anyway, but personally a little heat is worth not playing a 5 hour round. The sewage is not near as bad as the person who said they were holding their nose the whole time. You get whiffs of it but keep in mind, you DONT have to play here.

Wet grass but all around a great golf course!!

Played in July 2012. Course was in very nice shape for July in FL. Greens were a little rough but usually are at most FL courses in the summer. Rate was great. Had no issue with sewage small that a previous reviewer encountered. Would definately play this course again. Be aware that there is no drink cart so stock up on liquid before you tee off.

Extremely crowded with groups of people of 6 or more in front of you that have no business being on a big course. The greens are still horrible from over use, Staff do the best that they can do to complete an impossible task. Really a shame could be a wonderful place.

Nothing spectacular but, not a dump either. This is your run of the mill golf club. If you want FANCY, head out to Lakewood Ranch

The greens were in really poor shape. Too pricey for the condition. The ranger was way too pushy. Nicer courses for less money nearby.

The course is in bad shape, you have to be in the center of the faraway to have a good piece of grass to hit off. Greens arent much better patchy with sand patches. Would not advise anyone to play there.

Great time and people

No cold water in the water fountains, it was 88 degrees outside and the water wasnt even below 70.... Not cool when you live in Florida and pay $40 to golf and dont even get cold water in the water fountains... Needs to be fixed .

This is a small course but fairly nice. They also have a driving range.

Management must be stealing money AND the grounds keepers are useless as this course is by far the worst in a 20-30 mile radius. Fairways are terrible, Every green is dry rotted. Tee boxes are uneven and unkept. I will NEVER play this course again. It is disgusting.

Its a fun course but its dry and patchy. Greens are often damaged. Great layout and fun if you are not keeping score.

Im from Ohio, and being in Florida for my spring break, I expected the course to be in a little better shape than what it currently is. Ive gotta say, Ive played courses so bad where grass was growing in the sand traps, but this course is flat-out AWFUL. I kept running into holes that didnt have tee boxes, half the course was dead, the greens covered in sand... I mean, it cant get much worse than this. Not to mention the treatment plant is literally right down the street, and it smells like straight sewage when the wind blows the right way.The only reason why this is getting two stars is Kaitlin going above and beyond to help us out. She tried everything she could to satisfy our needs, very friendly. I would absolutely keep her around as long as you can, shes great with the customers!

Driving range has good grass now. Feb. 2018

Played twice since my return to Florida. Both times the course was unplayable. Last play was 12/24/15. Tee boxes not cut properly, fairways long, and greens so long and beat up that you could not putt them. The staff keeps saying the course is playable but denial does not make it so. I play with a group of 20 guys once a week at this course if conditions dont change we will.

Maybe the worst practice area in the history of practice areas, dirt, crab grass, weeds. Its so bad that every swing you make and you happen to hit the ball where you were trying to hit it is a miracle shot.Balls are filthy, cracked, chunks missing, as a Manatee County resident this place is a complete embarrassment to the sport and should be shut down to expand the treatment plant. Lets use the land for something that would be for the common good.

The course is terrible condition. Greens are terrible with bare spots. Fairways are mostly weeds. T boxes are bare. Overall not worth it. Starter was rude. The customer is to be a service to him and not the other way around. A complete make over is needed.

Horrible, horrible conditionPlayed on June 16, 2017 and paid $18 for nine holes. The fairways are all a patch of dirt / mud, the tee boxes are all temporary, and there are huge bare spots on every green, and the rough is a combination of randomly mown crab grass, Bermuda and St. Augustine. This used to be a very nice course when I played here 15 years ago. Now it might be the worst course Ive ever played. Stay away.

Greens are the worst I have seen in Florida. Cant putt on them. Rangers are unfriendly and not at all helpfull.Play if you enjoy a 5 hour round

Decent layout, greens werent good but werent horrible, condition just OK. Views of the neighboring sewage plant arent ideal, but if you cant get on anywhere else, you can still enjoy a round of golf on this track.

As of nov 6th 2016 this is golf course is in the worst shape of any coursei have ever seen...dirt for tee boxes. clover and dirt fairways and sand on the greens..we left after 9 holes..pope golf should not even be in this business if this is how they run their courses.
