We really disliked this museum. It was basically a way for the money man to promote his venture capitalist investments. It was messy and electronics werent charged or orderly. The only exception was the boulder room with real museum artifacts and history. We wont be back.

This museum really surprised me. It has a ton of interesting information for adults and ample hands on fun activities for kids. The Google tech area is pretty cool. You can build robots, control locally made robots, and they have hours for using a laser cutter! Their Boulder specific area is interesting, touching on native life before settlers, local business, and Boulders impact on human exploration of space. They also have a dinosaur exhibit geared for younger kids that can be a good energy outlet.

I was expecting information on Boulder. There was nothing obvious (I assume there are other museums in Boulder that cover this), however there was a very impressive exhibition on de Vincis inventions. This made up the total set of items being exhibited, and consisted of physical, and often working models of what he had designed.

Its a small museum with good pieces by the locals, but its not a must-visit for tourists. Not a ton of information here either. A good place to give kids to do.Edit in response to the comment below: On the day we wandered in, the Boulder Experience Exhibit was closed. Maybe that would have changed my opinion.

Great museum, there is something for everyone. My kids enjoyed the Google Garage. I enjoyed listening to the Archive 75, especially on the stories of homelessness and diversity in Boulder.I gave the museum 3 stars based on their staff. My family and I visit many museums and when we entered this museum, we were asked if we were together. We are a multiracial couple with 3 children who look like a combination of us both. That comment was inappropriate, especially for a museum who claims to respect diversity.

Interesting experience.. I was a little disappointed in the size of the museum given the price of admission, but my boys (ages 4 and 6) loved it, spent quite a while in the box maze downstairs, and then kept going back to the lab between short trips in the Boulder history section... Overall kept their attention for a couple hours. Also have to give them credit for the unique and interesting selection in the gift shop, which included pretty good prices. Great place for kids and plenty to keep adults interested as well.

This is a small gem to be added to places to go in Boulder. After a tour with our bicycle group, I had to return a few days later with my husband. There are plenty of hands on exhibits for young and old. Science, history and imagination Can be explored with the knowledge that all are well researched and documented.Note to folks with young tykes, make sure to go to the lower level where they’ll play without knowing they’re being educated.Became members as we expect to return often.

This is a great new addition to Boulders cultural life. The permanent collection is a journey through the highlights of Boulders history. For us, who have been here 41 years it was a visit to our past. In the lower floor is a great area for children to learn about dinosaurs who at one time roamed the area. We also learned about wolves in an extensive collection about these useful and beautiful animals. There was a great collection of the results of the local elementary schools student research into local leaders. The students interviewed citizens who have made a difference in our community. Their work reflected the impact the interview had on the students themselves.

Not worth the $10 admission price. According to the museum there were some native Americans, some miners, one building at CU and then nothing notable happend until the hippies came in the 60’s and made Boulder weird. I was disappointed that there wasn’t more actual history on the development and growth of Boulder between the 1800’s and the 1960’s, when the town was starting to boom. I’m addition, most of the space in the museum seemed to be devoted to exhibits that were not even related to Boulder.

It’s a great place to spend a couple of hours and learn something new! The google room has robotic toys and a vr on dinasours. My 12 yr old really enjoyed that area and could have stayed all day playing. The downstairs Dino area is best for kids under 5 yr old. Overall we had a great time, and I hope they continue adding and expanding the exhibits! Also the gentleman that was working the google area was very helpful and did a great job of initiating contact and providing educational info and help with the exhibits.

While it is definitely more oriented to children, the adults/teens in our group enjoyed it. The art exhibit featured the artists favorite hiking trails in the area which we found interesting. The google area included 3D printing, virtual skydiving and robotics ... a fantastic teen volunteer helped us get connected. The history of Boulder exhibit was also very interesting and shared some tidbits we didnt know. Parking is behind the building. We spent a couple hours there.

A great new location in a nice building, but as a Boulder native, I was hoping for more historical photos, artifacts, and insight into Boulders founding, growth, and development. Maybe its all in storage? The best display is the enormous aerial video of the city and surrounding area. Why the sell-out to Google...just to attract and entertain the kids? Although important, Boulder is more than just outdoor recreation activities...its CU, Western Cutlery, Neodata, IBM, University Hill, Martin Acres, Frasier Meadows, Gunbarrel, the toll road, Pow Wow, NCAR, the Bureau of Standards, the Daily Camera, KBOL, Boulder Sanitarium, Leanin Tree, downtown (both after, but more importantly BEFORE the Pearl Street Mall), Mapleton Hill, BHS and FHS, railroads, Naropa, slow growth, height limitations, open space, Whizzer White, Joan Van Ark, Glenn Miller, Mork and Mindy, hippies, 1930-era motor courts, Chautauqua, Ball Bros., and the historical families and businesses that grew, cared for, and birthed this great city.

After an initial misfire by opening the museum too early, Ive returned since all the exhibits are now open, and heres my revised review as of July, 2019:I like the main exhibit with a timeline of Boulder and how it highlights Boulders unique qualities, like the outdoor activities. Also the rooftop patio view is lovely. What Id like to see, overall, is a better use of space. Its a nice, big building, but about two-thirds of it isnt dedicated to useful museum exhibits, but rather to play space or kids activities. So if youre bringing kids, its a decent option. But for adults looking for a solid museum, its light in general, and very light specifically on all the old, interesting historical material. So look for a free day to check it out, or just go next door to the Carnegie library which has tons of historical photos and maps and is free.

You won’t get welcomed when you come in. The rude red head at the front who checks in you won’t say a word and glares at you if you just look around the front. Also will correct you if she over hears you speaking about something your looking at in the front. I had such a horrible experience, my wife and I left before even paying or looking around.

On Jan. 2, I went to the museum with my brother from CA and my daughter and her boyfriend from NYC, who were all in town for the holidays. It was the perfect place to go for a couple of hours. I had enjoyed the Boulder Experience display before, primarily looking at the sports, science, Arapahoe heritage, and music displays. This time I took a deeper cut, working through scenarios on the interactive electronic displays of Rocky Mountain Search and Rescue and the Boulder timeline. I learned a lot from both. We also learned a lot and greatly enjoyed the wolf exhibition.

Im very glad to have this museum in my neighborhood. My first visit was disappointing because the Sportsology exhibit was closed until later that day, but the Leonard da Vinci exhibit more than held my interest for an hour. I also checked out the Virtual Reality and art room on the second floor, but found the VR too intimidating to try.During my second visit, I tested myself in the Sportsology exhibit and visited the NASA exhibit.I meant to bring my son and grandson when they visited town but it was too quick a visit this time. Fortunately, a membership gives me a few tickets for anytime and they will be back in the fall.

What an Amazing Place!!!We are so glad the Museum of Boulder (the MOB) is open!! We had a large group of all ages (seniors, kids, adults) and everyone found the museum to be an interesting and fun place to visit. We especially enjoyed exploring (many hands-on) exhibits showing Leonardo Da Vincis inventions brought to life. We also had fun in the Google Garage doing the VR experience. The kids loved the Sportsology exhibit and had fun racing each other in wheelchairs and trying to figure out who could jump the highest or bounce the most on trampolines. We could easily have spent 2 hours there. Love the MOB!!!
