This is such a cool location (like most McMenamins). Built in an old high school, you are able to explore the halls that students used to wander. There are still lockers in the halls and old school doors with numbers on them, denoting hotel room numbers now, but previously classroom numbers. As you wander the campus you will find a hidden bar on the top floor of the school building, where the principal’s office used to be. It is aptly named, the Principal’s Office, and is pretty small. They will fix you a drink before you wander further. On the grounds you have a movie theater converted from an old gym, at least two restaurants with their signature brewery included, and a full sized pool with yet another restaurant overlooking it. In the middle of all of this is a large courtyard with outdoor seating and fire pits strewn about. You get a sense of privacy as you settle in out here, while also being able to people watch and have someone checking on you.The main restaurant had pretty good food, but the service was spotty. There were a ton of people in the day we went, so we chalked it up to that, but be prepared to wait a bit here. The brewery has a shuffleboard table and other entertainment that makes for a good time as well.

Shhh. It should be a secret!!!! A little cold getting out of warm water. Changing room somewhat crowded at times. Very crowded right at top of hour as people are trying to leave the pool as people are trying to enter on one set of steps. Face masks strongly encouraged but many people are wearing incorrectly or forget to replace promptly before leaving or entering the pool.

When I lived in Bothell this place was THE best hang out spot for miles. Their location is right next to a heated outdoor pool as well as their amazing theater. They have pool tables and other games available and also has tables outside and occasionally a local music artist playing during summer. Their service is always amazing and their food/drinks are top quality. One of my favorite places in WA and hope you guys give this place a look!

Stayed in mid September for a night. Enjoyed it. Close to everything we needed and nice to see what had become of the old school and the new Bothell. Quite a change from when we left in 2005. Room was appointed nicely, couch included, the light fixtures were quite a selection. The history throughout was nice.

Love this location of McMenamins -- one of my favorite PNW places! Sadly, the food seems to be going downhill. Since the pandemic, the two meals I have eaten here have not been as good as the many times I have enjoyed before the pandemic. Seems to be happening to a lot of places, unfortunately!

Ive visited this location two times. Of the three McMenamins location this is so far my least favorite but Id still go back for another stay. On the forth of July there were fireworks all around the location, that were not hosted by the hotel (free show!) There are many bars located around d the Court yard are and the staff and other guest always makes these locations so much fun. Make sure you bring your swimming gear if you plan at staying at this location, the indoor pool is amazing. There is a bar/restaurant above the pool which is amazing after you take a dip in the heated pool.

Kid and pet friendly! Room was quaint, no fridge or microwave, but all the same was nicely done. Something to do for the whole family, from an indoor heated pool to a full bar and restaurant. We had a great time! I will be back,if only to enjoy the pool. Which I found out you can pay for a block of time in the pool separately from staying in the hotel.

I am writing this review while we are currently staying at their Bothell location. We have been here for 3 hours and So far--it has been far less than a desirable experience. (We are currently trying to locate a more suitable hotel for our needs.) We came here after needing a place to stay for 3 days while our home remodel is being completed. We have a couple of dogs that we needed to bring along and McMenamins was one of a few located in Bothell that accepted pets. Upon arrival, we noticed a very strong odor of cat urine in our room (I called the front desk immediately to let Claire aware of the situation--) the room was dark, dingy and loud as it as facing the street. I went to feed the dogs and noticed (how I didnt notice this before is beyond me) but there is no FRIDGE in this hotel room for me to store the remaining can of special diet dog food?! I have never been in a hotel that hasnt had one of those small fridges before and then I notice there is not even a coffee pot? I get NO COFFEE? To say I am dissappointed is an understatement. Pulling my dogs away from home for 3/4 days has been very stressful and then to end up in a place like this--even the little things are huge. the service has definitely not been the greatest. I see alot of great reviews but I didnt see many for the actual accommodations. We will definitely not be returning. For the amount of money that we spent to stay here, I expected a little more than a room that reminds me of an old Motel 6....except without a coffee maker. Seriously. Blech...

McMenamins Anderson School is awesome!!! We celebrated our anniversary here. The food is delicious, the staff is super friendly and the service is great, the grounds are gorgeous and the hotel rooms are super unique and I love reading the stories about all of the local bothellites and original homesteaders. Due to Covid it was alot quieter then what it normally is Im sure based on the sheer number of overflow parking spaces. We will definitely be coming back even if its just for dinner. In November were going to be staying at the Tacoma location at the Elks Temple overlooking the Puget Sound : )

Staff were all really friendly. Unfortunately hotel is old and had a terrible old moldy smell not only in my room but through out the hallways. My bathroom sink had obvious black mold spots. Day 2 of my stay, the bed was barely made and day 3 the bathroom wasn’t cleaned. Day 4 bathroom sink not cleaned and room once again had a smell to it. Other than that the food choices and restaurant options along with a sports bar and movie theater was really cool. Michael from the Principle’s Office was a great guy! I enjoyed our conversations. If in the area again, which I will be I’ll visit the restaurants again but will not stay at hotel.

Delighted to have found a different McMenamins to love! We stayed for my husbands birthday, as this was what he wanted to do most. Our check in was effortless with Sam, and when she found out that it was his birthday (much to his embarassment), she made sure he had a treat waiting in his room. The rooms are so quiet and spacious, with comfortable beds, gorgeous decoration, and set in the manner all McMenamins are loved for, telling the buildings history throughout the property and including its features as part of the fun. Sam was there again at checkout, leaving us with a warm and happy feeling having made it there for the night. EVERYONE was nice, easy to speak with, and made us feel welcome and appreciated. We never made it to town, but thoroughly enjoyed our escape. Thank you, Sam, for making it extra special!

A lot of fun, with the history of Bothell showcased all around the rooms and hallways. Felt like walking into a small scale museum. Really fun artwork. Rooms could have been a little nicer. Really felt like we were staying in an old classroom (which of course, we were). We arrived from out of town late at night and the layout was very hard to figure out. The hotel is unique, its got a lot of history and art work that are fun to look at and the bedrooms are unique with artwork on the headboards. Upside is that its not your generic hotel and they were really cautious with covid and taking special precautions. Down side of the room no coffee maker, mini fridge, microwave etc. Lovely view with big windows and high ceilings, beds are not very comfortable. Large bathroom shower was on the small side no tub. Restaurant the tavern was a little over-rated. Prices are extremely high and portions are quite small. Drinks were good I had the BlackBerry cider. $20 for a personal size pizza I ordered the carne asada pizza it was ok but there was just a few strips of meat total rip off for that price. The fish and chips were decent the highlights were the extra crispy French fries and the tartar sauce but a decent sized portion of fries and fish. Service was great for both hotel and restaurant. Overall it was a nice experience and the ambiance is great but I wouldnt rush back.

We always have a good time at McMenamins because we make our own fun but this was our least favorite. Sterile is the way wed describe it. Some of the people were great. Others were not as friendly as we are use to. There is a fun running trail 2 blocks down the main street. Turn right for the better side of the path. There is also a dog park before crossing the bridge to the path. It was fun to watch the dogs. The biggest bummer was they closed the pool for the 24 hours we were there. We didnt want to see the movie and all the pool tables were in use but we enjoyed the pin ball and the outdoor area. The tiki bar had the best veggie options. They were appetizers. The quinoa bowl at the restaurant was very good but not a $19 entree. We dont mind the bathrooms in the hall and dont go to a McMenamins to watch TV so the fact that all the rooms have bathrooms and TVs was lost on us. When we come back this way, well stay at the Elks in Tacoma.

We are so happy the Anderson School is open for take out now! They have centralized the ordering process, so I only had to call one of the three restaurants on the property and I could place an order from any of them, or a combination of them. We picked up our orders which came to a centralized location, a white tent in the parking lot near the entrance to the Tavern on the Square. The employees were gloved and masked and kept appropriate social distance the whole time. It was so easy! AND they sell McMenamins hand sanitizer! I havent seen any sanitizer in any stores for over a month! :) Unfortunately, because I was distracted by the hand sanitizer, I forgot the beer I had ordered to go with our dinner. I called as soon as I got home to see if I could get it the next day. The best part of our dinner. One very awesome employee who was getting off work (I think...) drove our beer to our home in time for us to have it with our meal! THAT is what I call excellent customer service! They could never do that in a regular time or economy, but they are pulling out all the stops for their customers, and this customer is incredibly impressed and satisfied! Great food and the most wonderful people and service!

Went for their October Fest (which is probably why it was hard to find parking). So much to see & explore! First went to North Shore Lagoon, a tiki bar overlooking the indoor heated salt pool. Will have to come back here for tropical cocktails & a swim. Then went to the Marketplace where you can pick up souvenirs, get coffee drinks, and buy & drink beer while shopping! Then stepped out to hear the band in the outdoor patio of the Woodshop where there are tables around fireplaces. Inside the Woodshop is more like a giant game room with pool tables & pinball machines. We ended up eating in the Tavern. Wouldve given this whole experience 5 stars if we couldve sat in the booths by the gigantic fireplace or the Windows but were told they were reserved (but when we were done with our meal, some of those tables were still empty.) The Wagyu Burger was flavorful & juicy, truffle fries were addicting, but $8 is over priced for a small bowl of soup & the charcuterie plate unimpressive & piled onto a plate. But washing the Fields of Gold beer made up for it. Beer makes everything great! It was cool exploring the hallways of the hotel which was originally a school. I wouldnt have mind being sent to the principals office which in this case was a bar!

I had assumed it would be fresh, wild salmon. Actually, it is farmed in Bristol Bay. Watch out for marketing. It was cooked perfectly, had a nice pink to it, but no flavor. The brioche bun was good, just too much bread for a bland salmon. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and kind. I look forward to returning, but Ill pass on the salmon and try something else. Very hit or miss. Weve gone three times, twice on a friday. One evening, we had bartenders & waiters who were very well nuanced in hospitality and made for a spectacular evening. The other two times, it was food basically thrown onto a plate, and never mind the proper glassware for the proper liquor. More trainees than regular staff behind the bar and on the floor. And watching the cheesy two piece band heckle a couple walking by? Wish I could be more positive, the place has so much potential. A little less edgy and a little more training would do wonders, this place could so easily be five star. .

Lovely hotel! Large campus, with several wonderful bars/restaurants on sight, along with a movie theatre and an in-door pool.I stayed in room 208, the Lowell Haynes deluxe king, which was dedicated to a local figure that had made a difference in the town. The room was great! Im a tall guy, 64, and the shower head was tall enough for me to take a proper shower! Tall people know how rare that is, especially in hotels, so take note of that. Shower can fit 2, but its a bit of a squeeze, obviously designed for solo occupant. The bathroom itself was very spacious, and included a small table to hold your toiletries, which I really appreciated. The room came with TV, which was handy. Next time Ill bring a travel router and chrome cast so I can watch netflix on the tv. There was an espresso stand in the Principles office, which was roughly a 30 second walk for me, so that worked out great. The staff were all excellent, friendly, and jovial. Special shout out to the guy (I totally forgot your name, sorry! D:) in the gift shop whos a Star Wars fan - You da the real MVP! and the guy who made me the best iced latte ever - Mocha, vanilla, shaken inside a mixer at his suggestion.
