I contacted the firm, and received prompt response, and quick service. I learned some stone heads were early man points, 2k to 6k years old., but of little to no monetary value other than possibly to local collectors. But Id like to have thought he would have shown more interest in this mask. I think he is may be more familiar, and/or interested in western america native american artifacts, as opposed to Southeastern US native american tribes and artifacts. But that would make sense, as he is west us coast based. As it turned out, after speaking with him in August, In September I learned Im on a former Cherokee village site. Ive unearthed hundreds of arborglyphs, petroglyphs, as well as metal artifacts. They are mostly animal figures, spirit animals as they are called. So much more to discover, inventory and merchandise for guests to view.

I sent a photo of a very old Native American Indian beaded dress to this company to have them give me an estimate of the value per their free appraisal offer on their website. On the online form I completed, it asked whether I would be interested in selling the item to them or not. I put down I would not.I had sent in the photo of this item to another very respectable dealer of Native American artifacts and they emailed me back he next day that the beaded dress was Plains Indian circa 1900-1920s and worth a considerable amount of money.I never heard back from Matt Woods Antique American Indian Art so pretty much forgot about them. About a week later I get an email from Matt and he says that the beaded dress may not be authentic and is only worth between $50-$100. He basically insulted me because I did not want to sell the dress to him. Guess Matt gets ticked off and just insults the person if they dont want to sell the item.Would advise anyone needing an honest, unbiased appraisal of a Native American artifact to avoid this company as Matt will insult you and run your item down if you dont want to sell.
