Absolutely delightful walk. We have met some lovely dog owners and have loved our chats with the locals who are very knowledgeable about the history of the mall and trees. We have even met the Friends of the Mall who were removing posters in line with their policy to protect the monuments. Some trees have dedication plagues on the ground next to them. Lily puppy has made many friends. A magical place to celebrate the changing seasons - everyday feels like an adventure.

Instead of taking transit, on one of the days to my trip to Boston, I walked the Common wealth Ave parks. I dont think people give this piece of The Emerald Necklace enough credit. Every few steps along this row of parks is a statue, memorial, or dedicated bench. I found Pokemon Go to be a useful map while walking along these parks because each pokestop and gym represented one of those three types of sights to see. When I saw gym or pokestop coming up I could click to find a picture of what they were marking and then I would stop my walk to look where I was to try and find it. My favorite piece was a set of statues about significant Boston women. Take a stroll if you can. Not to be missed!

The Commonwealth Avenue Mall is a narrow strip of open green space stretching between the Boston Public Garden and Massachusetts Avenue. It reminded us of the Golden State Park Panhandle in San Francisco. This mall, was designed in the mid 19th century by Arthur Gilman, who took inspiration from Parisian boulevards and the green squares of London when devising the plans for the Commonwealth Avenue Mall. Here you will find a single straight footpath running the length of the mall, taking in a handful of historic sculptures and monuments and endless rows of tall trees, on both sides, providing shade to walkers and those who rest upon the mall benches.Monuments that we enjoyed seeing in particular include that of Bostonian Samuel Eliot Morison (1982) casually seated upon a roughly edged granite rock. This made for nice photos with the areas trees which had already begun to turn colour by mid autumn. The contemporary Vendrome Firefighters Memorial (1972) was also a memorable monument. In the end, we really enjoyed making our way along the Commonwealth Avenue Mall in Boston. This is a neat place to visit for green space near Newbury Street. We would include another stop here future visits to Boston

Walking down the Comm Ave Mall path transports you into a serene oasis amidst the surrounding urban environment. The entire path is adorned with the pristine, beautifully lit trees, perfect for bringing a date or just enjoying a peaceful stroll. No matter the season, this has always been one of my favorite places to walk. If youre visiting Boston, this is a must-visit, especially for the wonderful pictures that you can take.

Lots of dog walkers here. Please walk your bike. Theres no crosswalk markings in the middle of the block where the paths lead, so use caution when crossing (and expect having to weave between stopped cars sometimes).

This narrow mall runs down Commonwealth Avenue and just a couple streets away from Newbury Street. It’s remarkable how close both are to each other yet it’s a completely different vibe. For a city this size Boston has done well to incorporate enough green to provide refuge from the hustle and bustle.

This strip of grass between two busy roads is surprisingly nice. Emerald green grass (in the nicer months) leafy trees, and people walking dogs or playing soccer next to the many statues and monuments. Its nice to be able to cross the street in the middle of the city and be in a bit of a park.

Ive walked up and down here a few times. Theres some nice views. Its easy to find and get to. Theres a lot of benches to sit in and plenty of room to walk so you never feel too crowded. Some cool statues and stuff to look at. Definitely worth checking out and walking around on a summer or fall day. Its near the commons and newbury street. Overall its a very nice walk and will probably end up walking down it again.

A beautiful walk in the city. The Mall is a great spot for those who live in BBY--I love walking down it on my way to and home from work and watching the seasons go by. Great area for kids to run around, for dog walkers, for people who want to sit on a park bench for lunch or to read, for historians (some really lovely monuments). A nice, less crowded alternative to walking down Newbury.
