We parked at the Christian Science Plaza underground parking garage to attend a Boston Pops Friday afternoon holiday concert at Symphony Hall in Boston. We saw a sign announcing free daily tours of the Mother Church (of the First Church of Christ, Scientist). The guided tours begin on the hour and half-hour and last about 20 minutes. We had plenty of time before the concert, so we decided to join the next tour of the Mother Church. We were very glad we did. The architecture, the interior, and the history of the founding of this institution were fascinating. Dont miss a tour if you are in the area.

If youre visiting Boston, I highly recommend taking a tour of this church as it is gorgeous. They are currently working on it as I write this review, but once it is finished in 2018, it is a must see! The ceilings are beautiful and it houses one of the largest pipe organs in the world!

I highly recommend a visit of the Christian Science Church campus. Their Mapparium tour is cheap and interesting way to spent 30 minutes. I didnt really know what it was until we went inside the giant glass globe. They also offer free tours of the church. The main church is absolutely beautiful. I believe they tune the organ about every 2 weeks. If youre in town, drop by to hear it play. Lastly, the CS staff was great! A big thanks to Bill who gave us the tour.

The Mapparium is very interesting, but a very quick tour. There are many friendly guides willing to spend time & answer questions. The pipe organ is spectacular.

Amazing tour guides. This church is an architectural marvel with the biggest pipe organ Ive ever seen-top 10 biggest in the world. If you ask nicely, the tour guide will ask the organist on site to come and play a short song so you can witness how grand the sound is.

A friend told me to go. What a spectacular experience. The people were great. I got a student discount, as did my kids and my mom got a senior discount and my sister got military, I think the whole tour cost about $20. You also have to tour the church next door. What a find in boston.

A beautiful piece of architecture and a testament to what can be accomplished if a group of people work together. It is beautiful inside and out and connected to one of the most important women in American History. Definitely something to see if youre in Boston. Wizard of Where

Take the free tour for the architecture and the stained glass (and the beautiful organ). Theyll also give you a bit of history on the religion, but not in an invasive way. Very nice tour guide.

This church is very beautiful with a giant dome and lots of seating. The staff is very kind and will give you a tour or just let you wander through. It looks very serious and elegant, but has some cute toys and chairs in the back for kids that show it has personality too.

I have taken friends visiting from other countries to tour the Map Room known as the Maparium. Every single person has been thrilled with this experience. I myself never tire of this view of the worlds globe from the inside out. Its absolutely fascinating, providing a perspective of the world in latitude and longitude. I am looking forward to my next visit which will probably be my fifth or sixth. I cannot imagine going to this building and passing up the opportunity to visit the Maparium!

Some seem to be reviewing the religion and not this location, here. Given this isnt really a forum for religious scrutiny, as a neighbor of the Church, I can say they do a very nice job keeping this public space clean, attractive, and safe. The architecture in and around the plaza is quite beautiful. The fountain is a nice respite in the summer for neighborhood kids to cool off in. The reflecting pool at night makes for a really nice place to sit and talk with a friend or two. The Mapparium -- a large stained glass globe you stand inside -- is worth seeing once, thought the multimedia video presentation about the Church organization that accompanies it will not be of interest to the casual visitor and tends to distract from the fascinating glass work.

Took a tour, which was amazing. Beautiful building and friendly guides. They also let us take photos inside, which Ive uploaded here to Google (be sure to ask before taking photos since there are no photo signs for some locations). While I also enjoyed the Mapparium next door, the church tour was easily my favorite of the two.

Its an odd plaza for a church. Open, inviting and relaxing. Lots of people enjoying the grounds, kids and adults with toy boats in the reflection pond and lots of people hanging around the fountain. There were even sunbathers, couples relaxing and lots of places to sit and be sociable. We took the tours. The Maparium changed my perspective of the planet Earth. The church history is a glimpse into an interesting period of history, a person and a movement/religion. I met nice inviting informative people, but nobody tried to convert me or witness to me. What I learned and experienced is consistent with what I have experienced with the ChristIan Scientists I know: open minded and inclusive. If you have been experiencing shopping overload at the nearby mall, you will enjoy some peaceful time at the plaza. Doing the Church thing is optional, but please visit the Maparium.
