Our family of six really loved this little place. Often times, historical villages are made great by their interpreters, and this one was no exception. I wish we’d gotten his name, but he is a recent grad of Appalachian State is now working on his graduate degree in Public History and his passion is clear. I just love it when people find their vocations and live them. This guy is so knowledgeable. I love history and I happen to teach college, and I learned quite a bit from his tour. I highly recommend making a visit here, and then maybe pop over to another local place, maybe Blowing Rock, for a snack or lunch, and hike some trails. Makes for a great day.

Decent little living history museum; sometimes there are re-enacters and demonstrations of old time living. Also come here early on weekends (Saturday) May-October for the best farmers market around.

Really enjoyed the tour. Very educational and the cabins are neat. We went during covid so it wasnt as full of activity, but still worth going.

Our tour was very great and the guide was extremely knowledgeable, he answered every question we had and was enthusiastic. The cabins are all very cool and we got to take a step back in time, it was nice imagining how life was and hearing the stories of the battles as well. Very much recommended.

It was ok, a lot of things were shut down due to Covid of course. We went on a short guided tour of the cabins and our tour guide was very informative which made the tour worth while. Cost was $8(Adult) each.

We went in the off season and missed out on the live actors, but got a nice private tour of the facilities. The people who work there have amazing knowledge and passion for the history there. Great place to go if you home school to teach history. I think most of the live acting is in the summer time.

Very informative tour ($5-45mins) led by a guide dressed in revolutionary attire. We visited in the off season so no actors in each cabin, but the same guide the entire tour. Tours are started on the hour.

Took grandkids on Sat. Very interesting. We got a private tour as it was a quiet time. Very informative. Not too long so kids don’t get bored. Well worth stopping in. Probably 45 mins- 1hour.

It’s neat. I got to roam around and look at the outside of the houses. But the museum wasn’t open, although the internet page said it was.

If youve ever been to Greenfield village then just know, that this place is absolutely nothing like that. There were like four cabins to look at, and it was a tour, not living history. The tour guide gave us a very long history lesson in the gift shop before we started and wasnt very charismatic about the topics. I never saw the show so I cant say anything about it. The bathrooms were disgusting and the gutter were about to fall off. All in all, not the experience that was advertised. I probably would not go back again.

We went there for the July 4th celebration with the reading of the Declaration of Independence - toasts - and the burning of King George in effigy. It was the most meaningful and fun-filled Independence day Ive ever celebrated. Knowledgeable staff in costume and you can explore the traditional cabins and learn of life in the colonial period. All for 5 bucks! Get going!

This place is small, but truly cool. When we arrived there was nobody around even though we had read a tour was scheduled at that time. We poked around a bit in front of the gift shop and the person working there came out and told us it was closed for a film crew that was doing shots there that day. However, they hadnt shown up yet, so we got a personalized short tour. It was great. Very cool to see how people lived in such small homes. I wish there were actors and stuff, because that would have been awesome.

My great great great great grandfather Tatum and family built the one room cabin and raised their children. It was a humbly and tearful experience to see what my forefathers accomplished during hard times. It was very gratifying to see and I am proud to be a 85 year old Tatum and Kansan.George Arthur Tatum

This place is great. Very knowledgeable staff. A good representation of a colonial era mountain village. Not the watered down PC garbage the NPS is dishing out these days.

Director called the Boone P.D. and made a fictitious report, and had me banned, He told two outright lies I purchased 150 dollars worth of gifts from the gift shop on a previous visit, Im long time supporter of Horn in the West, Hickory Ridge Living Museum, Daniel Boone Native Gardens, and the Farmers Market. Sorry because of this Director I give this place the lowest ratings possible. Stop and do see,the Daniel Boone Native Gardens, beautiful coll of wildflowers and native plants which I have contributed to, Its next door, I havent been banned there, Botanist, David Schiffman
