This place was amazing!! As others have mentioned, there was This sweet and cute little Pup who literally came over to us right after we pulled in and was our trail guide the entire way! We named her Buddy :). She was very eager to show us around and once we got to the creek wanted us to incessantly throw sticks out to her to fetch. She actually made the trip quite enjoyable. Her tag says that she lives nearby and to let her be. She is quite friendly and sweet! My husband and I attempted to hike the trail but after about 10-15 min, the trail practically goes straight up the face of the cliff. We hiked partway up and decided I might break my neck or leg so ended up going down to the creek. IMO that was the very best part!! SO SO BEAUTIFUL! we waded in it for about an hour. So clear and clean and refreshing with a bit of a current! I would have been perfectly happy to stay all day but we had to leave. Highly recommend for the views!
The trail is more difficult than just walking down a dirt path but is definitely worth the trek up the bluffs. Very epic up there.Even if you dont want to go up the bluffs the creek is very scenic, relaxing, and the Bluffs even have an unofficial dog guide.Youll come for for Bluffs but stay for that amazing Shepard dog!!
Great hike. Wasnt quite prepared so we didnt hike up the cliff to far. The best part was our trail guide puppy, she was such a joy to play with.
Very beautiful trail but a dangerous one aswell be careful and make sure your footing is good
Amazing views, challenging at times but worth the views at the top. Love the trail pup who always hangs out and wants to retrieve sticks. Love to know her name.
Beautiful and somewhat challenging hike. I would love to learn how I could help plant more cedars on top of the bluffs. So many have died.
Went there late March 2019. A big surprise place! The beginning was very easy walk, then it became a challenge. Several times I thought I missed the route but I didn’t (confirmed by people I met there). Kinda slippery so I didn’t make to the top, but it is a VERY BEAUTIFUL.
Great place to explore, but go with caution, take a friend, and wear appropriate shoes!! The trail along the creek is rugged and hard to spot at times, and leads to a precarious ridge trail that goes along the steeply inclined Ridge and it can be slippery and hazardous. The easier wooded trail on top of the ridge can be hard to locate, too. You have to follow a beaten path through overgrowth to the left (before reaching the creek trail), then go up a very steep incline to the top. Follow the beaten path from there and enjoy the views!
Such a beautiful place to spend some time in nature!
We visited early in the morning before it was hot. The entrance is a little overgrown, but you can still see the sign. If you used State Park ratings, it would be very rugged. The hike takes you along Clear Creek, then up the bluff to the top. Very interesting landscape if you are not from that part of the state. One nice thing is that there was very little trash. Trail would be difficult if it had rained recently. Water would be high, muddy and slippery trail. Overall great experience.
Great hike. A bit challenging in spots, but pleasantly so. Look out for the dog who will help guide you on your way!
Trail is washed out or sometimes just hard to find. It can be slippery too. This might have better views from up top when the trees arent as leafy. Otherwise, the creek is beautiful. I enjoyed the water much more than the view and scramble up and down the bluffs.
Really cool place to explore, but theres not really a parking lot and the trails are poorly marked.
The majority of the trail is behind an incredibly steep incline that I think would qualify as rock climbing if it were any steeper. It also was very slick even though it hadnt rained that day, so it seemed too dangerous to attempt. I feel comfortable with rugged trails, but this is a whole different ball game. Unfortunately its only a 15 minute hike otherwise, so it ends up being a very quick trip. Its a beautiful area with some spectacular trees, I just wish it were possible to see more of it without risking a broken neck. Constructing a set of stairs, similar to some trails in Brown County, would be an excellent addition.
Its the most beautiful place,I love that I get to walk down here and enjoy Cedar Bluffs Nature Preserves,I had a moment where I just stand here and say thank you God thank you for this beautiful place youve made, its very peaceful and I never want to leave.
Place doesnt ever get maintained, beautiful place, if only you could find the trail.
If your lucky a friendly dog will join you!
Fine place for a short hike. A bit underwhelming.
Cedar Bluff Nature Preserve- What a beautiful little gem not too far from town! While somewhat rugged, the area seems maintained the perfect amount. By that I mean it is for the most part left wild with pretty narrow paths at times. But I think thats part of its beauty- it has been left natural.I mostly go to take advantage of the Clear Creek access, as I love to fish that area. There are several species to catch, and the smallmouth bass can get surprisingly large. The largemouth are usually little guys but still fun to catch.I was really surprised that I had never heard of it until recently. It almost makes wonder if people didnt talk about it so that it wasnt overrun with people all of the time.
Beautiful
