I love the Bluebird. I have seen Jimmy Eat World (favorite band of all time) here twice and it was incredible to experience them so up close. I also went to see Thin Lines - a local band and that was a great experience as well. Whether the band is more well known or more local they always have great entertainment.
Great venue! Great stage to play on and when not playing with Derailed I enjoy seeing many shows here. Great service too!
I have seen Wanda Jackson and Reverend Peytons Big Damn Band (twice) at the Blue Bird. This is one of my favorite live music venues. Its very intimate. Gives you the feel of hanging in a buddys man cave/basement. I was able to be at the feet of the artist for all shows that I have attended. They need to fix their photo booth but I wont fool them, since most of us carry cameras in our pockets at all times. If a band you like is playing here, I highly recommend you go!
Carly P concert...up close, inexpensive, great show even though she was under the weather
Great place. Good staff and great bands
Had a little too much to drink at Turnpike Troubadours concert and asked 2 different bartenders to help me get an uber and both denied me. If someone knows they have had too much to drink and you deny helping them, you should find another line of work... shame on you Bluebird!
A very exciting and busy nightclub located in the heart of Bloomington. Saw a sold-out concert of Morgan Whalen. You are packed in there like sardines, but for the most part everyone is respectful and nice and there to enjoy great music. Multiple bathrooms was also helpful. Cant wait to go back
Excellent venue with fantastic sound.
Staff was so rude our entire group walked away. Highly recommend finding another place for music.
Fun place to go every once in awhile. Sometimes they got a good band in there playing live music. Beer & drinks are reasonably priced. There is normally cover to get in. Overall, a good place to hang with some friends and grab some drinks.
I stop by pretty frequently for concerts, fits the college area dive-bar mystique quite well. Oddly shaped so sometimes its difficult to find a good place to stand. Get a good amount and style of bands in though, worth the drive over from Columbus as the shows are usually pretty cheap as well.
I dont drink but the bar tenders are pretty nice. They have a huge screen for football games at the bar. They have a pretty good karaoke night. It was fun and it looks like a good place to play in a band if youre in one. Parking might be hard to find.
One of the top 3 places to watch a concert in Indiana. Standing room only. Two enormous bars. Intimate setting for your favorite local and national acts.
Great venue but not good for EDM shows whatsoever. Rude crowd that only goes to get drunk and not let others enjoy the music.
Great for shows but drinks are super high.
Wow what a groovy place! Hip music scene is bursting alive and well in Bloomington and this packed house proves it. Staff is about a level 2 of friendliness on a 10 scale but they deal with uncooperative college kids every night and it is to be expected. Hot & claustrophobic feeling place when packed... just step out if it gets too much.... lots of bar areas ... interesting decor...
We had a lot of fun, but it was so crowded and it was impossible to find somewhere to sit down. The Main Squeeze is always a huge hit tho.
Man, I love this venue. Ive seen so many shows here... Saw Everclear here. Saw Fitz & The Tantrums here. Just an awesome venue in a great location. Small, too, so get there early if you want a good spot near the stage. They get some pretty big acts, too, so chances are good you will see some names you hear on the radio. Rock on!
Great place to meet people and listen to good music
The Bird is a cool local dive bar with a focus on booking good music, including recognizable names. The only thing I dont care for is their drink prices; ex: $4.50 for a bottle of PBR is nuts, especially when you can get a draft PBR at the bar across the street for $2.75. At the end of the day, The Bird is a bar, and drinks are whats most important.
Great venue. Lots of restaurants, bars and Hilton within 5 minutes walking distance. Saw Guided By Voices on stage. Epic!!!
The environment is great for almost all ages, especially for students/local. The drinks are at the usual price but because they have a concert venue it adds a lot more to the place rather than your typical bar.
Some people dont like it because the sound system generally sucks. But Im nostalgic for the place. I love the cool booths you can retreat to when standing for the concert gets old.
Awesome music venue
Great venue for shows, though when it gets packed, its PACKED. Some of the bartenders suck; okay, one in particular. But the rest of them are friendly, and the place has a good vibe.
Great place to watch a concert and grab a drink
Divey local dig. Awesome concerts and deals. Wednesdays have 50 cent beers. Typically a cheap cover if a band is playing. A mix of standing area and tables
Great venue for up and coming musical acts. Pricing could be a little more reasonable. Fun environment.
Great place to see popular groups or bands at a cheaper price 3 bars in one
Being one of the few venues in town, the Bluebird does a great job of curating bands for a wide variety of audiences. Its got an awesome, dive bar vibe and has a great history as a music venue in town.
Fun atmosphere. Wide variety of live acts. The people watching is top notch.
Great night club...bathrooms were small but great atmosphere
I went to check out open mic night, went up to the bar to get a beer before I went onto the floor. I couldnt see the taps so I jokingly told him Sorry, I forgot my glasses, what do you have on tap? He replied with Why dont you just walk down and check!.... I proceeded to walk out and find a place to grab a beer where they would actually enjoy my buisness. Maybe he was just having a rough night but thats no way to treat anyone!
The Bluebird is a great place to get a drink and watch a show.
Had a really good time here. Live music from local college kids. Make sure to get the Dirty Bird drink!
Quick entry, decent prices on drinks, good music selection
Great music venue, if you dont mind standing for it.
Besides being one of the original bars in btown, its a big place so theres usually room to move around, live music is usually pretty good, and you cant beat fifteen cent beer night on Wednesdays.
Great sounding venue with cheap drinks, clean bathrooms, and killer bands. What more do you need?
Great shows, but the craft beer and cocktails are WAY overpriced
Good for shows. Too much of a dive bar for my tastes.
Absolutely loved our New Years celebration here with Reverend Peytons Big Damn Band. Decent beer & liquor selection too.
Its a great place to have fun. Great jams!
Unless you are going there to see a show, I dont recommend going. Nothing nice, dirty and sticky with bad cocktails. Beer is ok.
I went almost ten years ago to see Pat Green. I loved the place. I finally made it back last week to see Josh Abbott. They have this tall skinny bouncer who forcefully made his way through the crowd running over people, throwing elbows, and even shoving women. When an older gentleman who was standing by us that night (off duty indy cop) called him out on it he got in his face, told him he was thrown out, grabbed him forcefully and a shoving match insued. The woman I was with was hurt and bruised in the altercation which was 100% caused by this bouncer. People...CUSTOMERS..do not PAY to come to the venue to have this happen. Completely unacceptable.
Just saw Lucero last night, and it was an AMAZING show!! Everything else about the place was ok. Typical bar Id say. Alcohol selection was ok, but expensive as I expected. But the ONE THING keeping this place from getting 5 stars, is the fact that even thought I was one of the first people to get in the door at 8, the mens bathroom had NO TOILET PAPER, and it didnt have paper towels either, just a hand dryer! I would think they would make sure their bathrooms were ready to go before the doors opened started!
Great place to hear good bands of all genres.
Cozy place to see shows. But dirty and dated
Love the Bird...especially when Hairbangers Ball is in town!
It was a blast. ..the setting is a cool venue also
Good venue for smaller rock shows.
Good music. Young disrespectful croud
Best place to see a show in Bloomington. Despite the 15 cent beers, I avoid this place on Wednesday - gets crazy packed and people get rude.
Nice small venue.
Great concert venue for seeing a band up close
Great place to see rod tuffcurls and the benchpress.
Great live music and cheap drinks
A great old college-town bar!
I was attacked by a boy named Casey, as i was watching the legendary Dave Coe Casey the boy bouncer came out of nowhere and chocked me. He then continued punching and fighting me. Many people witnessed the attack. I have seen over 50 shows at the bird and my family has been a part of the bluebirds history. The bouncer on the wall behind the bar, you know the picture of Bear with his red motorcycle, well thats my uncle. I am also related to the man on the bad elmer beer bottle that you serve. The Bluebird will never get my money again. And as I was the DD last night Casey had no right or reason to lay his hands on me. I have photographed my wounds. If Casey the Boy still works there 30 days from now then I will be forced to take legal action. Also he can try to lie about what happened but I have a friend who was recording the show, based on this footage my Lawyer has no doubt that I could sue this establishment for damages. As I know and respect the property owner I dont want that to happen, But if this out of control over zealous boy bouncer is still employed at the Bluebird I will have know choice. I am sure that he has many issues as a bouncer. as one of the other bouncer was between us trying to hold casey back, also on recording...............................................BAD FOR BUSINESS...................................
Great spot to catch up and coming bands in Bloomington.
Try the Dirty Bird! Always a great place to see a show!
Great Place, Great Music, Good Alcohol,Perfect place to have concerts
Good place to catch a band.
Fun times, great shows
This place may have 15 cent beers on Wednesday, but its only the crappy ones. One beer on tap per Wednesday. The bouncers checking IDs were rude about people using their coupon for free $5 cover. The bar tender even got upset when we asked what beers were on tap. Not a place to go twice.
Kick ass show
Look out for Jukebox Luke!
It has a cheap cover, cheap beer, and good live shows
Cheap beer with some good music
The most intimate concert venue
RETRO !!!
Over sold venue. Expensive
Great time
Intimate music venue
Awesome venue
I love this place
Jake Dodds is fantastic
Great listening room
Great venue for live music
Not my favorite venue, but a classic through and through.
Awesome venue for live music
They are awesome there
Permanent hearing damage, every time.
So cheesy now. Disappointing.
Jamey Johnson was awesomeness
The band selection is good for they normally have something throughout the month that everyone will like but other than that its a typical overpriced bar thats normally crowded but the staff is normally great and the people are always a good time
Only bar I go into in town.gets a little crowed when a good show is in that night.only thing I really dont care for is that most shows dont start until about 10 pm
Atom Heart Mother this weekend!
