I will never forget my visit here! So much history, the site of the 1963 terrorist attack on a black church that claimed the lives of 4 African-American girls. My visit included videos and a tour and the staff are very knowledgeable and allow for questions. My life will never be the same thanks to this place.

I thank God for the strength that He has given you all during your difficult time back there on September 15th 1963 only God can give us the strength that we need when we Face the difficult days and their hatred that comes our way. And to the family of the four beautiful young ladies who lost their live on September 15th 1963 I pray that God continue to bless your family as you continue to move forward with your lives.

One of the most important places I have ever seen. One of the worst attacks on Americans by Americans happened here. It’s an important place that should be visited by everyone. It is worth going out of your way to come here.

A beautiful church with a moving memorial to the little girls. Everyone at the church was very welcoming to visitors, and it was encouraging to hear people talk about the girls with reverence but also determination to keep the church going and serving the community. The historical displays were enlightening and helped put things into context.

A sad, hopeful, and faithful space. The stories of those who lived through the bombing are honest and vivid. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and a great host. The amount of history there and in a few blocks as well as the service - and witness - that continues today is inspiring.

I drove from Atlanta with my 10 year old son to visit the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church! What a truly awesome and memorable experience! From the moment we parked our car and walked across the street to the church we were blown away at the history we encountered. When you first arrive you are greeted by two current church members...one of which was a member during the civil rights movement. It was so wonderful to sit and listen to him give us play by play accounts of what took place during this time. He actually knew each of the four innocent little girls that were killed. He also knew Dr. King very well and had many sit down conversations with him. For a small donation of $5 they will show you a 20 minute video overview of what occurred the day of the terrible bombing as well as what happened after this unfortunate day. Additionally, they will show you the exact location where the bomb was placed. There is also a beautiful stained glass window donated from a gentleman from the UK. Such a beautiful message captured in that window. They are open to answer any and all questions you may have. They have done a beautiful job preserving the church as this church was a vital part of the civil rights movement in Birmingham. Services are still held here today! I highly recommend this church tour!

A must see visit to learn about the civil rights movement in the US. unfortunately this place was bombed by racists who thought it was not a problem to bomb a church on a Sunday thus killing 4 innocent little girls.whether you are a christian or not, the place deserves a visit to pay respects. it is right next to the civil rights museum, so there is no excuse not to make a stop

We visited the church today and wed long known of its significance. The building itself isnt extraordinarily beautiful, but the importance is what it represents....tours are given at certain times, but not when we were there - although the custodian kindly showed us around, and later we met the pastor & we had a very pleasant conversation with him. They have a small gift shop and my friend bought a very nice shirt, plus theres a small donation box and certainly the church is reliant on donations.

My 100 year old grandmother, a centenarian long time member of this church, was eulogized on Friday, Sept. 27, 2019. The pastor of this church was very rude, showed no compassion for the family, skipped parts of printed program that he previously approved, rushed through Repast. Said grace with only three people present and directed the breakdown of tables immediately after serving. His actions were not that of a pastor, but one of a gate keeper on standby just to lock the doors. I have never experienced such arrogance from a clergyman before and I am appalled and still in disbelief. I pray the pastor take a good look at the man in the mirror. I wish the best for Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, not because of its place in history, but because my grandmother loved to worship there.

Our 2019 Confirmation Class from Christ Church United Methodist in Louisville, KY attended the worship service on April 28, 2019 as part of the confirmation process - a Listen & Learn trip entitled, An Odyssey for our 8th grade students. This was our last stop, having traveled to Selma and Montgomery to learn more about the Civil Rights Movement and how God worked through people like Martin Luther King Jr. and many other ordinary people to get great things accomplished. This congregation welcomed us with smiles, hugs, handshakes and beautiful, expressive and lively music! The pastor, Rev. Arthur Price , Jr. preached, prayed, read His word, told us stories of the Bible, challenged us and drove us to our feet, clapping our hands feeling The Spirit alive in our hearts and minds! One of our youth described the worship service as, Best worship service I have ever attended! Thank you so much for the amazing, meaningful, welcoming, worshipful experience!

People come here because of the Church’s crucial role in the civil rights struggle in Birmingham in the 1960s and because the KKK killed four young black girls by planting dynamite in the basement. When I visited there were two busloads of church goers from California who had made the journey. Tour guide Armond Bragg, himself a veteran of the 1960s protests but now close to 75, introduced a film made by the church about the bombing incident and the eventual trial and conviction of one white man 14 years later, and then of two more later again and several years apart. While the story is compelling, the film’s style is well out of date and needs replacing. Mr Bragg is a compelling raconteur and happily answered questions until people were done.
