Gorgeously restored to its former glory, the Lyric Theater provides a stately, yet intimate, setting for plays, talks and concerts alike. Clearly a lot of time, effort and money has gone into creating this beautiful space - and it was most definitely all worth it.I had a great time seeing Marc Broussard perform here, and the acoustics were fantastic. The accommodating bar and spacious foyer add to the comfort of attending a show here. Highly recommend!

Amazing. I was taken to the Alabama Theater as a kid and never knew the Lyric was there. When I heard that they were trying to raise money to restore it, I was enamored. This was my first chance to go and it is absolutely gorgeous. I am so thankful that people spent as much money as they did to restore it. Being in the younger crowd, it makes me happy to see other younger people enjoying old things and historical venues. Im so glad the Alabama Theater went from sticky floors, ratty seats, and a projector that didnt work because they didnt have any funding to the beauty it is; and even moreso that the Lyric went from being boarded up to being restored to its former glory.

Beautiful theater and great view no matter where you sit. My only complaint is that there is very little leg room in the balcony. I am 56 and my knees pressed against the seat on front of me. Maneuvering sideways helped, but when there are people on either side of you its nearly impossible to get comfortable.

I had a great experience at The Lyric! The building on the inside is beautiful and historic. I really loved the craftsmanship of the interior of The Lyric. The history behind it is mind blowing because I realized while there enjoying the beautiful interior, there once was a time that I would not have been able to enter the building from the front door. But to be able to enjoy my favorite jazz artist Brian Culbertson from the first row 2nd seat was an amazing dramatic experience. Go enjoy The Lyric, it is beautiful!

I bought tickets through Ticketmaster. They told me they would be at will call. I contacted Ticketmaster 3 different times to confirm. Once arriving at the theater, they claim to know nothing about it. After arguing, they let me in but put me in much worse seats than I purchased. I was supposed to be in Opera box 306 and I am on the back row on the floor. Customer service is poor. But, Ticketmaster was great! They went out of their way to make it right. The theater is beautiful, so they get an extra star for that.

This place has been beautifully restored! The event staff are terrific. The layout is impressive. There are a few minor things that could be performed but also arent noticeable. Some interior glass was chipped and a bit of the stairs and wall upstairs but overall this is still the best theater available downtown. Hopefully itll be well maintained for years to come. The concessions are nice and clean too! Dont miss any opportunity you have to see this piece of history.

I went to see Black violin which was excellent. it was a fundraiser for links. the tickets were $100 I set upstairs and that was awful. seating was too tight and made it uncomfortable and difficult to enjoy the show. I had to fold my scarf and put it between my knee and the chair in front of me just to relieve the pain. it was awful. I do think the theater was very pretty.

Dont get me wrong, but this is a great place to go see small venues. Acoustics were great with all seats just about 60 feet from the stage. It is an old place but beautifully refurbished. Best seat are lower seating and the first row balcony. Other seats are tight. If you are tall or long legged no leg from. Nothing to eat, just snacks. Coffee was excellant. During the intermission, potty lines are long for both women and men...but move quickly. Steps but no elevator. Show was excellant see the Jim Brickman Christmas show.

Beautifully restored and relatively small theater. Im not usually fond of concerts in venues where there is only seated attendance as here (no standing/open floor), but due to the size of this theater Ive found this lends itself to intimate performances and a great experience, especially if you can sit downstairs close to the stage. Great viewing as long as you are not in the very first couple of rows. The only small downside is that the refreshments this places serves are a bit limited.

Beautiful venue with good acoustics even without the often excessive amplification. Have enjoyed numerous events there, However, the tickets have higher add on fees than theaters in NYC, Atlanta and Birmingham. Plus, our latest tickets for Three on a String does not allow a print option. The only options are text, will call or additional fees for mailing hard copies of the tickets. Guess they are saving a tree branch by eliminating paper copies.

This was my first time to the Lyric, and it is beautiful! Our group sat in the highest nosebleed seats to watch Taylor Hicks, and still had a great view; it is a very intimate setting. My only complaint is about the lights. I dont know if Taylor Hicks has his own lighting person, or if they are controlled by the Lyric, but the stage lights kept flashing into the audience. At first it was just a few times each song, but after about an hour (out of a 2.5 hour concert), there was almost constant flashing right in our eyes. I actually put on my sunglasses, but no one else had theirs with them. All 7 of us left within 1/2 hour of each other.

Great venue. Beautifully restored. Small enough that there doesnt seem to be a bad seat in the house. Theres no hassle for the smokers to go outside and re-enter. There is a small bar for drinks that is adequate. I ordered a beer that was cool not cold but the bartender gladly switched it for a mixed drink. Theres only one or two places within walking distance around the theatre to go after the concert. There are several paid lots in the area that range from $5 - $15 for parking.

The Lyric Theater is a testament to determined entrepreneurialism in our city of Birmingham. I have been very fortunate to have seen the restoration of this wonderful facility from the start and if nothing else good comes from its existence this restoration has been good for my soul. It shows that almost anything that is not dead or destroyed can be restored to vibrant health if given enough time, attention, and money. Way to go Birmingham Landmarks and all the players involved. Oh and by the way...this is a wonderful place to view a performance.
