Awesome local resource for kids and adults to learn about zoology and endangered species. Exhibits are cool, assortment of animals is interesting. Interactive & educational displays. Fun things for kids to see and do. Nice forested walk with clear, paved, and easy to navigate paths.

Beautiful, great walk through the woods. Saw two wolves and a pup, sleeping leopards (kawaii!), gamboling marmosets, up close red pandas (beautiful!). Reasonable to become members, great little, gift shop, and a broome heritage carousel. Love it.

This is a hidden gem of a zoo where the animals are free to range around in a natural habitat space. The red pandas are adorable as are the screech monkeys and the snowy owls. Only drawback is the cyclone fence makes it hard to take the best photos but still worth the trip. You’ll probably walk about a mile around the exhibits. And there’s a little gift shop with “zooveniers”. Mostly stuffed animals.

Currently they are doing a lot of work to the zoo. Between that and Covid-19 guidelines a lot of the zoo is closed to the public. There are still many animals to see and every visitor helps make the zoo better, faster. Most Zoos are built from nothing, leveling a huge area and manufacturing everything you see. Ross Park Zoo is set into the natural local environment, changing only those things that the animals need to thrive. Go see the 5th oldest Zoo in the country and help make it even better!

Nice enough for a local zoo. Some of the larger cats were in cages that seemed too small and paced the entire time. We went with a 1 year old and 4 year old. Both were able to walk majority of the time and we didnt have to worry about bringing a stroller. The wolf area was the most expansive and our favorite! Prices are reasonable, especially if you do the package with the Discovery Center!

Very clean zoo. Friendly staff. Great walk in the woods. Wonderful place to bring family. Cute souvenir shop inside. Prices are reasonable. Loved the carousel. Children are encouraged to find litter (trash) on the ground, in turn for a free ride on carousel. Great way to teach children to appreciate the earth and be rewarded with 7 minutes of fun.

So now everything is crazy but the zoo was mostly open. The wooded vibe that you get is calming and quiet rather than open and noisy. The animals appear to be well cared for but the zoo facilities could be updated. Nice variety of.animals and a good amount of information available for education.

Staff was friendly and animals were beautiful. Park was fairly well-maintained. I wish there had been more variety of animals; I would almost prefer to call it a preserve than a Zoo, but then again I dont know the technical difference. Overall, we enjoyed our time with the family. A quick visit.

Really nice zoo. Animals seemed content & well-cared for. Many interesting exhibits. The red wolves are very cool & were most active animals. We visited mid afternoon & it was hot & humid. The zoo was cleverly built into the terrain & the scenery was amazing. Its a little over a mile to walk through when the nice asphalt walking paths. Built into the woods, there were lots of places to get in out of the sun.I just had a knee injury so I found walking up the hill to see all the displays personally a bit challenging. By the time I walked down the hill coming from the exhibits I was uncomfortable - but that is on me! I should have wrapped my knee first. Just mentioning because it would be considerably harder for elderly or infirmed folks to visit. I saw little golf carts there, so maybe they rent or use those to help people get around. Anyway, it was an enjoyable afternoon adventure. We ate ice cream at the concession stand and even bought a couple items in the gift shop.

This is a nice little zoo and park if you happen to be in the area and are looking for something to do. It sits in a little valley, so on hot days its actually quite cool walking around. Prices are very reasonable. Not a lot to see, but it was worth the stop with the kids.

This is a nice zoo, a little larger than I anticipated but not so huge that you need a whole day or anything. They have a nice selection of animals with some very nice unique enclosures, sometimes you really have to look for the animals! I enjoyed seeing animals that I have not seen in many other zoos. I will definitely return next time were in the area. Nice gift shop also, had more selection than other larger zoos I have been to!

Enjoyed our visit. Nice to have an amenity like this close by. Dont expect big city zoo attractions but there are some good experiences to be had. Many of the animal attractions were closed or being refurbished when we visited which was disappointing. Its looking a little run down but work is in process. Kids loved the petting zoo. Membership is good value especially with the discounts you get.

Although the zoo is not very big it is very nice as you can quickly come and go, especially with young children, and its not generally too crowded. Drove up from Pennsylvania to visit the Ross Park Carousel and The Zoo. Arrived only to find out they were CLOSED, even though website saidthey were indeed OPEN. The gates were open so I walked in, and made my way to a nearby picnic table to get my phone out. Another couple entered and asked us if it was open. The a group of men drove by in a truck and yelled at me. Were Closed! Nice. Well maybe they should put that on their website before people travel. Both areas were Closed.

As one of the oldest zoos in the area, maybe even country if I’m not mistaken, it’s a shame that it seems to be going downhill. It’s a cute place and I know the staff try their best with what they have. Though there are very few animals any more and the exhibits need some repair. I did notice a few upgrades upon our last visit. I’d love to see this place restored to its former glory!

Our zoo is a wonderful resource. It has many educational opportunities and has education on conservation. It is in a beautiful wooded glen. The exhibits feature many endangered species. There are red pandas, snow leopards, snow owls, eagles, and so much more. The new director is focusing on accessibility. They plan to run a vehicle to help folks get to the top area that gas south American porcupines, a sloth, penguins and otters! Truly a hidden treasure.

I know the zoo and its employees do their best with the limited resources they have, but it needs more animals. At least half of the mile long walk has no exhibits, and often times the special events they run are half baked. The zoo is very kind to the animals they do have though, as they focus on rehabilitation into the wild rather than domestication of the creatures under their care. Id love to see them get a massive grant or donation so they could do more than just survive.
