Amazing! If you love history like me and my mom. Youll have a great time. The house tour was awesome and the tour guide was funny, knowledgeable and engaging. It boggles the mind how these monuments stand the test of time but boy is it awesome when they do.

If you love history like we do. You need to visit Beauvoir . Easy on the budget. It did my heart good to actually come across a school trip . Turned out home schooling. The children were very attentive and asked questions. The museum actually has a lot from president Davis . Nicely displayed . All the confederate flags. Yes there was more then one. There is a tour every hour for the house . The tour guide was very interactive and funny and loved Sara dorsey . Need to take the tour to meet this amazing woman. Katrina did a real job on her. Now zata, so we couldnt go see the cemetery. There is different events. Reenactment every October with a thousand soldiers complete with vintage uniforms. Tours for Halloween in cemetery . Lots of walking trails and beautiful gardens . Sorry petting zoo is gone Need to visit have fun yall

This is a nice place to visit. I enjoyed it very much. It means something to me and brings back memories since I lived there on the property for 11 years. My mom and dad worked there and my grandparents on my dad side lived there too. The employees are very nice and helpful and theres a lady who tells you the history when you tour the main house. I learned more today about the place than I did when I lived there. I recommend visiting Beauvoir Jefferson Davis.

This is an amazing destination, made even more so by the knowledge and friendliness of the staff. The complex includes the Jefferson Davis Presidential Library and museum, his final home, Beauvoir, two guest houses, one where he wrote his 2 vol. history of the civil war and the other is available to rent on a nightly basis for a reasonable $125/night. There are also gardens and a cemetery from when Beauvoir served as a home for for Civil War veterans. Our tour guide was exceptional in her knowledge. Rosie at the desk was most pleasant and accommodating. Jay, who is in charge of the library was very helpful in setting me up to do genealogical research on my Civil War ancestors and Bobby Sue (who has spent a lot of time in the library) also gave me a wealth of tips. Outstanding.

Visited on July 5th, 2020. Had a wonderful time here! Learned so much and really appreciate the efforts taken to preserve this incredible building and the history dedicated to the confederate army. Our tour guide, Theresa, did an amazing job making the history lesson enjoyable. I highly recommend this.

Fun place to visit with many things to see. The interior of the home is beautiful, and the tour guide is knowledgeable and dressed in period clothing. A short walk back from the home, is a medium size Confederate graveyard, including among others the remains of Jefferson Davis father. The grounds are well maintained and the gift shop has many related souvenirs, clothing and books.

Home sweet home when I was in school. We went like 3 or 4 years in a row to visit Beauvoir and is very special to my heart because the war was not over slavery. It was over the 45% taxes in North wanted to put on us they threw that in at the end know your history. Praise the Lord that we all can come together peacefully. No one should own anyone. In Bonnie ever Jesus set us all free.

We are lucky to have this piece of history considering hurricane Katrina devastated this area in 2005. The house is the original with original artifacts and the other buildings are recreations. The presidential library and museum are very interesting as well. I recommend this if you are a history buff.

I absolutely love this place. I held off going here for so long b/c I couldnt afford it, but I finally went when I realized I might not get another chance due to me moving to Missouri. The history there is amazing, the house was spectacular, & the library was breathtaking. The garden & cemetery were beautiful, too.But my favorite spot there was the Jefferson Davis live oak. If it werent for the time crunch, I would have sat on the low hanging branches of that ginormous tree for hours. & to think that our great Confederate President more than likely sat right where I sat. Talk about an experience of a lifetime.

This place is like stepping back in time. It is very rich in history. It baffles the mind to think how well they were able to do stuff so many many years ago. The fact that there is a Confederate graveyard is quite humbling. The home itself isnt all that lavish but it is certainly worth visiting. There are some incredibly great pieces of antique furniture in there. There is so much history. When you step on the back porch and look out over the landscape you can almost vision yourself back in those days. Well worth the trip.

$12.50 admission. Plan on up to 3 hours, or 2 hours if you time your arrival at 10 minutes before the hour: tours of the house occur on the hour from 10 - 4, and last 15 minutes +-. The building where you enter & pay has a museum upstairs with some artifacts and signs: plan on 30 minutes - 1 hour there. The library was closed on the day I visited. Not sure how regular an occurance that is. Theres a 25 minute video of marginal value in Jefferson Davis study next to the house. Theres a cemetery behind the house where 200 +- soldiers are buried.

Whether youre a history buff or not if you are in the Biloxi Gulfport area and looking for something fun to do this is a great place to visit theres a lot of history here and a lot to see this doesnt take half a day or all day its as long as you want it to be thats the cool part about it you can do the tour and thats of the main house the two were we were on was not very good in my opinion I think the lady given the tour could have given more information without having to be asked kind of did the bare minimum in my opinion but I definitely think you should check it out it has a really cool Confederate Cemetery in the back and they do a re-enactment every year which is really cool so if youre in the area looking for something to do I recommend you to go check this place out its inexpensive and fun

A tourist trap perpetuating Secessionist failed ideas and dreams. Opulent residence with slave hierarchy depictions. It would be better with Disney like animatronics. This place is not worth the price of its expensive admission.Definitely no discount for seniors or veterans. Some say he dressed like a woman to avoid capture. Clever,Makes you wonder.Shoestring operation here.Much better JD sites elsewhere.Skip it and spend the admission fee at a nearby casino.

The home of Jefferson Davis is small but it spreads out over several acres. We were to late to see more than the house and just enough time to grab some historical books from the library. I love history makes me proud to learn how far we have come and see how far we have yet to go. Mississippi gulf coast holds a lot of history. The angle monument at the visitor center in Biloxi is a memorial for? Go find out. Visitor center is a museum also. Slow down and get off the beach.

While in Biloxi, take some time to visit the library and home. Very interesting history. Interesting to note that the house was turned into a retirement home for Civil War veterans and their wives (if I remember correctly) in the early 1900s. Many of those vets along with a tomb of an Unknown Soldier are buried in a cemetery on the grounds. The home is still undergoing some repairs due to damage from Katrina.

First of all, make sure you go inside and pay first! We entered the premises on March 7, 2018, parked the car, and immediately saw animals! I was drawn to them, then we noticed the graveyard so we walked to it and saw the Tomb of the Unknown Confederate Soldier. Very humbling experience since we had also visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in DC. Our experience on the grounds soured quickly, though, when a security guard met us, asked if we had paid (no), and told us we must pay to see any of the grounds, inside and out. He asked how we got through???? Pretty easily. No fences, no baracades, gates wide open, and most importantly, no signs telling us where to pay or that we couldnt peruse the grounds. Keep in mind my husband is a disabled veteran who uses a cane to walk! After we were escorted to the gift shop to pay (the guard stood there until we paid), we paid and never heard an apology from the guard. Unacceptable. We then visited the inside; the museum was so-so and the building showed signs of deterioration. We appreciate history and believe this facility could be improved to more thoroughly represent the Confederacy and Jefferson Daviss role. Also, they should improve their signage, fencing, and security to ensure visitors know how much admission is, where admission begins, and the correct path to take to the gift shop to buy a ticket (actually you get a sticker).

Exact same review as for the library. It is on the same property. They have done a great many repairs since Hurricane Katrina damaged it so much in 2005. It faces the Gulf of Mexico. I am currently listening to the podcast 1865 which discusses the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, and the repercussions and how the ending of the Civil War came to an unraveling so much.Jefferson Davis may have been the 1st and only President of the Confederacy, the emphasis here is on the states rights, specifically to own slaves. This is a narrow view of states rights, but the only one they held. I missed out on the beginning of the tour, but what I did get was informative, if a bit too narrow. The grounds, cemetery and library are immaculate, and this should be enough of a testament. The staff members are very friendly, this is a good place. I just think that the view of the history should be broader, especially when so many are still disenfranchised even in 2019. I would suggest coming here to see it as a reminder of the past and that it should not be repeated. There are reenactments, though I have not seen it, I would be interested. Pretty informative.
