Hemlock Park is a great place for the whole family. You can catch the River Walk, have a picnic, explore the huge playground, throw a blanket on the grass, or sit on a bench and watch to river flow by. It is a hidden gem in the city of Big Rapids. It has paved walkways and a handicapped swing. My grown, engaged daughter announced on this trip, I love Hemlock Park. I brought my fiancee here. I will bring our children here

Very pretty with many big trees. There is a pavilion that you may reserve for a large group. The picnic tables are in nice shape. There is a great playground for the children, called Playscape. There is a ball diamond and tennis courts. There is a restroom. The river is beautiful, but very swift and NOT suitable for swimming or wading. There are quite a few small docks (for lack of a better word), platforms with rails to enjoy river views. There is also a great wheelchair accessible swing built by a local person. There is also a Riverwalk paved pathway that runs along the river with a couple of bridges. One of the bridges crosses a pretty little creek.

A peaceful setting where you can walk or bike to your hearts content, see the geese (watch out for their droppings), look out at the river, watch tubers going by or picnic under one of the pavilions. Theres also a play area for the kids but its not shaded well so make sure they have on sun protection and stay hydrated (you too).

Located in the City of Big Rapids Michigan , on the shores of the Mighty Muskegon River! With plenty of picnic areas and a massive play structure for the kids! It seems there is always something to do with community events that are scheduled throughout the year! I can’t say enough great things about this particular place!

Review №74

Im not from the big rapids area but my daughter has taken me here twice and ive really enjoyed the view in both summer and now winter!very well maintained and pretty busy in the warmer temps with a huge fenced in area with a gigantic fort type playground for young kids,a picnic area, baseball fields and just lots of room with nice looking grass.there is also a paved path next to to Muskegon river with a few lookout spots.i do recommend making sure you hold onto your little ones if youre walking the path by the river, kids take off in the blink of an eye and the banks can be a little steep in spots and take it from a steelhead fisherman, when you lose your footing in the winter,a steep bank and snow almost always guarantees a freezing cold bath.

Hemlock Park features a lovely Riverwalk that is well worth a visit. It features a beautiful, up-close view of the Muskegon river and has something for all ages. A playground, paved walking trail, artwork, tennis courts, and more!If you are present during the fall, the park has some gorgeous foliage! The large tree by the pavilion has bright yellow leaves that appear to glow when the sun hits it. If you are searching for great fall color changes – you’d be remised not to stop here. The park also looks really pretty in snow! The park is equipped with a lovely wooden playground that resembles a castle fortress – perfect for the imaginations of the little ones you may bring here to play. The Riverwalk also features various signs that depict paintings from the Detroit Institute of Arts, including an 1851 painting titled The Trapper’s Return. This was a nice feature that we wish more parks would include.Things to consider: It’s much bigger than you may assume at first. There is an awesome mural underneath the overpass – the paved walkway will bring you right there. There is a mini boardwalk that will bring you over the water and has benches if I remember correctly.

We love this park. The play area for kids is so big, so much for them to do and explore. They even have a tots area for smaller children, including baby swings. Lots of walking trails and docks with rails to stop and enjoy the riverfront. Only downside is all the goose poop everywhere makes it less enjoyable to walk the trails. The park is almost constantly patrolled by police which gives me a safe piece of mind. They also have groups of (Im assuming) teenagers cleaning up the park whenever were there.

A nice park to come take photos at, relax as well as a fun place to let your child play and run around at. There are a variety of fun activities for your child to play on at the Playscape structure. This park provides a covered pavilion for those that would like to have a picnic in a covered area. Tennis courts and a baseball diamond can also be found in this park.
