What can I say about this theater?Well the fact that it is now a AMC is a huge joke. AMCs are usually very nice theaters that are priced a little more but worth it because of there wonderful seats, cup holders, and technology but at last this one is the worst theater I have ever been to.Its exactly the same as it was when I was a child in the 90s. The only thing that seems to be changed is the name, ownership, and pricing. You have to play a game of musical chairs as half the seats seem to be broken and the rest are super uncomfortable. There is no place but the floor for your drinks so its no wonder the floor always seems to be sticky. Additionally the chairs are super tight fit and have little to no redeeming qualities.Theyve been saying theyre going to be doing a remodel for years but that seems highly unlikely. Also just cause you call something classic doesnt make it any less of a heaping pile of trash.

Movie was good and the staff were pleasant. But the movie was suppose to start at 7:10pm and we arrived at 7:01pm and in our seats, the movie didnt start until 7:40pm and didnt get out u til 9:45pm and it was too late to go to dinner. Was disappointed because my husband and I rarely get a night out.

I graduated back in 1999, and this was the theater that was where everyone went. We were visiting family when Frozen 2 came out recently, so we took our daughters to see it here. The theaters are the exact same since I was a kid. The seats are horrible. The dust on the original wall coverings is probably from the 90s. If you look up at the air vents, there is black residue coming out from them. The speakers are a joke and had poor sound quality. The only thing that has changed is the cost, especially for concessions....it cost our family of 4 about $30 just for popcorn and drinks here. And the popcorn wasnt that great.

Yikes!!! I really wanted to see Birds of Prey the weekend it came out and decided to go here while visiting my son at school. The staff was nice, but the actual theater is terrible. The seats were very uncomfortable (they were so old that they opened too far and were almost spilling you onto the floor), NO cupholders, dirty/sticky floors. You could hear the movie playing in the theater next door well enough that you could make out the words. Im really surprised that AMC would let them keep the franchise name on this place it was so bad. I would never go to this theater again, I would wait to see the movie somewhere else.

Very old, dirty and overpriced. When you sit in the chairs you can feel the wires in the chairs against your back, extremely uncomfortable. The floor is from the 90s I’m guessing, very old and nasty looking. Just the whole atmosphere feels like your in a dirty nasty place. You can’t fully enjoy the movie because the atmosphere is very off. They need to do a remodel ASAP. I definitely will be taking my business elsewhere just because of the eerie atmosphere and the over all experience.

Very expensive as most theaters are. No matinee prices. Popcorn was stale, probably left over from day before. Very outdated and smells old, still looks the same as it did 25 years ago. No cup holders which the AMC commercial before the movie shows people sitting in relaxing comfortable seats with cup holders, telling you to enjoy the AMC experience. I would recommend going somewhere else, I personally will not be back.

Ill just keep it simple and go with the pros and cons.Pros:- LocalCons:- No VIP seating- Some screens have an odd and distracting split to them.- Popcorn is horribly overpriced, even compared to other theaters.- Audio has a moderate-treble, high-mid, and low-bass volume mix. This creates almost a screech-like tone in all movies.- Puny building with very little parking space- HALF AN HOUR OF ADVERTISEMENTS AND TRAILERS before your scheduled movie actually starts- Eerie staff

This theater is missing all its features that make seeing a movie enjoyable. Staff is not welcoming, pictures of snacks misleading, wrong tops for kids drinks, seats could be original with building (very uncomfortable), no cup holders, old popcorn, volume loud then soft then loud, bathrooms in disarray.AMC - this theater needs some serious help. Your brand name is on it, and it doesn’t look good. Make this experience one that people want to come back to! Your customers are your first priority... right now they feel like your last one.

When you pay $9 for a movie ticket, youre paying to see a movie once. No physical copies, no opportunity to see it again. Youre paying for an experience. That cinema experience should come with comfortable seats, movies that are at a comfortable volume, and clean screens. The Big Rapids AMC offers none of this, unfortunately. Dont get me wrong, its an alright experience. But not worth the money. Also, can some please explain to me why two bottles of water are $9? And why a regular popcorn is $7? This theater is not worth it. Pay for a little more in gas and go to one in Mt. Pleasant.Or, do yourself a favor and next time you come, smuggle in a cushion and your own popcorn. Two stars given only because I did get to see the movie.

Wow! We watched The Lion King stated movie to start was 6:50, actually the movie start time was around 7:30. The movie theatre was packed with a whopping 10 persons of interest, which included our group of 7. We got to listen to 4 movies for the price of one, this due to the lack of wall insulation. Some of our fun included overpriced popcorn and dancing in the theatre. The seats were extra squeaky and extremely springy. Warning: XXLs you will not fit. Theatre held an unbelievable 40 people, with three different colored bed sheets as the movie screen. Projector was bought from Walmart for $99.95. The best description of the smell would be having 17 goldfish in a poorly ventilated dorm room. Trust me I know. If you think its a meth lab, you have arrived at the AMC Classic Big Rapids. Ferris State Students tickets are only $7.69, what a deal! Overall this was one of the best movie experience I have ever had.

High prices for a very old and dated theatre. No stadium seating, old seats, no cup holders, worn springs/uncomfortable seats. I paid almost $12 for my ticket (3D) and $15 for a pop and popcorn. At these prices I expect a lot higher quality of a theatre. To top it off I was distracted almost my whole movie due to the thin walls. The screen next door was playing Bohemian Rhapsody and it sounded like I was in a concert during my whole movie.

They need to replace their seats! They are very uncomfortable seats compared to any other theater. My husband and I only visit this theater during the winter when we dont want to travel further. Otherwise we travel nearly an hour to another theater to see the movies in another city. Recently went to see the Kid Who Would Be King in the Big Rapids theater. I took my Dad, My husband, and my two nephews. My dad loves the movies and goes all the time. I hadnt been to Big Rapids in at least a year, and I couldnt believe how hard it was to watch my Dad struggle through the movie. After 30 minutes (which is how long the previews are, but thats a whole different rant), my Dad was already shifting in his seat and have to lean forward on his cane. My nephews were complaining about being uncomfortable, and after about an hour I was getting pretty uncomfortable as well. Im not sure I want to endure that again.

The theater needs a thorough cleaning the floors in the bathroom have a buildup of dirt around the edges and around the toilet stools. The seedings in the theater itself needs to be replaced. Its an old theater and I realize its in an area that doesnt bring in a lot of Revenue. as it is changed hands and gone to a corporate theater, money needs to be poured back in to modernize the theater itself. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Pricing is outstanding compared to what it costs at other theaters.

This is a really outdated movie theater. They have broken seats that they havent fixed. They just throw white sheets over them so that people know not to sit there. They have the old, thin wooden arm rests so there are no cup holders in their seats for your beverages. Some of their seats are missing an arm rest. There isnt much room in between rows of seats so it is a big inconvenience when people get up during the movie. Sometimes you can hear the movie in the room next to the room that you are in. The temperature isnt comfortable most of the time. Most of the time it is too cool for my liking. Their bathrooms are very small and very outdated. There are only two stalls in the bathroom. And their concessions are very overpriced.

We drove from Cadillac to see a movie in 3D that wasn’t available here. I assumed that since it was an AMC theater that there would be standards. Boy was I wrong. First of all, NO CUP HOLDERS!! What?! There should be a law against this! But really. I can handle the seats not reclining but my kids trying to manage a drink on the floor was a joke. I almost don’t feel bad for the mess we left because of it. The screen was small, did not seem high quality with the big line down the center of it. We made a stop to the bathrooms on our way out which were run down and vandalized. I was so disappointed. I wanted to treat my kids to an awesome first time seeing a 3D movie and ended up wasting $75 on a total bust. Had I known it would have been this way I would have driven north to traverse city instead! Lesson learned, now hopefully this saves you from making the same mistake!

Since AMC bought this theater, I thought that it would get an upgrade. Seats uncomfortable, no drink holders (increasing incident of kicking over your drink if you put it on the floor). Replace broken and covered chairs. Yesterday, my daughter and I saw a movie, the staff stated they could not TAKE CASH! Is this a new policy implemented by AMC? Additionally, the line was out the door, when there is empty space inside the entry not being utilized. Small children should not be standing out in the cold (I offered my place inside). The majority of the time, the staff is unfriendly and curt. There is no signage to display what is currently playing. I am dissapointed that AMC has not addressed the theaters shortcomings.

It is absolutely astounding that AMC charges more than $8 a ticket and$7 for the cheapest beverage and expects you to sit in chairs without cupholders. So what do you have to do? You have to set your cup on the disgusting carpet. Did I mention the sidewalls havent been cleaned since the 1970s. You can hear the films from the other theatre (imagine watching that pivotal moment in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and hearing praise Jesus from the religious movie next door) *yes, this actually happened. One thing people seem to lack understanding in, is the cost of running a business. There is a time to complain about prices and this is not one of those times. Poor customer service, dirty, or maybe something that justifies a complaint. People when you see the complains they are not complaints at all most of them, just ignorance in the wrong perspective. 50% of net profits go to the movie distributors, plus employees, licenses, insurance, taxes, product, product waste, workman comp and so much more. Theaters have been in decline since the 50s and I am impressed it is still open. Dont be ignorant a very small percentage of theaters make a profit.

I asked what a large popcorn would cost in Lansing, $5.50. So if you actually give them an arm and a leg for a pop and popcorn, there is no cup holders to put your pop! that is, if you can find a seat in the theater that isnt broken. I have no doubt that if they had the slightest competition in the area, they would go under.
