Franklin Canyon Park is in The hills of BH and extends to the Santa Monica Mountains, which it is part of. This is a very scenic park with wildlife, walking hiking paths, a lake, a running stream, and its about a 5-10 mins drive from Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. A great mini getaway and feel nature within the city.So many rules are enforced here and this park is heavily monitored via camera and park patrol personnel, who are fond of issuing tickets! Its a bit to a challenge finding the right road to get here. Also, once here in the park its poor cell reception. And make sure you read the posted park hours signs, gates close as noted. This park is a great place to visit and I highly recommend it.

We live in Hollywood so the two main hiking area we frequent are Runyon Canyon & Griffith Park, this was a nice change of scenery. It felt like we were out in the forest while walking around the different paths, very beautiful and peaceful here. We came early morning so there was plenty of parking and it was not too crowded. Great spot for taking pictures.

A totally beautiful spot for walks and small hikes. Great for exploring. The pond and reservoir are beautiful, and its lovely to see the ducks; fish; and turtles. However, theres always some parent letting their kid run around and mess with the turtles in their cove. The location is otherwise pristine, so its troubling to see some rampaging child thrash around the water, picking up the wildlife while their parents sit silently. Cant we just not be cruel to nature for five minutes? Franklin Canyon is one of the most gorgeous parks in the city, yet bad parents seem intent on spoiling it.

The park is really nice. The MRCA and Diana Hartmann, who runs the stop sign video enforcement program, are money sucking vultures. If you are planning on visiting this park make sure to stop on each stop sign and count until 3 S-L-O-W-L-Y. Do not give them the satisfaction of sucking your hard earned $100.

Youve got to be going there in order to get there, but once you do youll find a unique little spot hidden from view so close to the heart of Los Angeles. A couple of short walking trails round two small lakes loaded with fish turtles and birds. Free parking is abundant but due heed the signs for stop sign violations as they are seemingly enforced by a remote camera

This place has a vehicle scam. I received a ticket in the mail for 100 dollars for apparently rolling through a stop sign. It’s part of their “Photo Enforcement Program”. I’m not saying I didn’t roll through any stop signs but I am saying that I drove as safely as possible. I’m going to pay this probably fraudulent ticket so my credit isn’t impacted. I must say, though, they make it difficult for tax payers to access this beautiful landscape without fear of government predatory practices.

This was the first time Ive been here. Its wonderful. There are hiking trails and a small pond and a small lake with a walking trail. There are ducks, koi, and turtles, but dont feed the animals or youll be cited. Also make sure you make full stops at the stop signs, because they are monitored by cameras. There are also restrooms.

We had a great time at this family friendly spot. Easy enough for my 10 year old while my husband carried the baby. We saw lots of families with toddlers and everyone seemed to be having a great time. We saw ducks and turtles and fish. The trails were mostly shady and helped us enjoy more and stay cool. Lots of scenic spots perfect for photo ops.

Hidden gem in Beverly Hills (ssshhhhh, dont tell anyone though) Easy hike around this lake. You can also hike along the road which is a longer loop around the lake though be mindful of cars. Tons of turtles ready to say hello. I was surprised by the few so willing and curious to come right up to my dog.

It’s a very nice play for a hike. There’s lots of wildlife, like ducks, turtles, and fish. Hiking around the big lake is short but calm. Although the trail has mud in some places. Finally I recommend going to the smaller pond because there’s more ducks, turtles, and sometimes fish there. Very good place I recommend you go there. There is also an Indian hut and a museum.

Nice place to see critters, trees and flowers. We drove 2 hrs thru awful traffic to get here. I just wish the trails and locations were actually marked :( Sure there were trail maps at several inclosed kiosks but thats it. We spent way too much time walking around looking for trails to hike. We missed several trail entries points because they werent marked and we werent sure where they went or how far they were. Trail head signs, locations markers and miles markers would be great so those of us who wondered endlessly around looking for stuff could of actually jumped on a trail and hiked. If folks in charge read this put some more info were needed so folks can find things more easly.

Parking can be tricky. You may find spots near the entrance to some trails. However there is a huge one all the way to the north of the canyon near the school.Nice park. For hiking trails Id recommend the lower canyon as the paths are wider and clearly marked. Better views. Upper canyon has narrow unmarked path. Careful as some path can lead to peoples homes but clearly marked no trespassing. There is a road called duck/turtle pond which is in middle of the park really nice to see.

Restrooms are clean and located at the mountain recreation & conservancy building. You can also find an outside performance theatre which is cool. Quixote Studios was filming something while I was on my hike. Make sure you if you have sometime to take the kiddos and visit the pond. Its a nice spot to visit while in town. Visited Franklin Canyon Park on a Wednesday morning while staying in Beverly Hills. We hiked to the top of the Hastain Trail, which afforded fantastic views of the canyon, LA, and the Pacific beyond. We saw a few other people along the way, but it still felt quite secluded and not in any way crowded. The total distance was about 2.5 miles round trip with enough elevation gain to get the oxygen and blood flowing, but not too strenuous. The trail was easy to follow and perfect for some fresh air and exercise. The park was easy to get to, with entrances set in neighborhoods below Mulholland Drive. Be aware of the stop signs and low speed limit within the park, as you dont want to be ticketed.Parking was ample and free, which is not the case in many other places. This park has also played host to Hollywood and rock stars throughout the years. It may be best known as the setting for opening of The Andy Griffith Show, and you can still trace the same steps around the lake.If youre looking for an alternative to Runyon Canyon without the hassle and crowds, this should be it.

This is a great place for us Angelenos to get our high vibrational nature vibe! Its so close, but feels far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. This is a great place to ground all your negative energy so Mother Nature can make flowers out of it. Runners, hikers, ducks and children like it too. The only drawback is that there are deer ticks here so wear light colors and check yourself when you leave. The museum at the top of the hill by the parking lot is also very interesting and educational.
