What an absolutely lovely place to spend some time in nature! So many spots to sit and relax with your family along the river! Perfect places to bring the kiddos to play, lots of calm small places! There is a great walking trail and its right in town! Super stoked to have found this place! What is so cool is that next time we go back we will probably be in a different spot and have a different adventure!

Great access to trails and the river, and plenty of shallows near the bridge for littles to have fun safely. Great spot for walking and nature play, lots of side trails and rocks for clambering. Watch for bikes on the main trail and bridge. There is a port a potty on site, or it is a short walk upriver on the east side to pioneer park and real bathrooms.

We LOVE this walk when were in Bend. We only discovered it last year and its a perfect walk when we stay in the Newport neighborhood in Bend. Parking is usually okay on 1st Street as there are only a couple of spots at the trailhead itself. Theres a port-a-potty right by the bridge for those who need it.Weve only walked north from here and have always loved it. The surface is great with a wide path. Not too many bikes use this trail but lots of walkers do. A couple of miles north you get great views overlooking the north of bend to the east.

I rember when it was just a trail. It is still very nice. When it was a mill town, us kids without alot of money would make river boards out of left over plywood. A couple years back, I passed it down to my son. Here at First street rapids.

Pleasant place right in the middle of the city. It always amazes me the gorgeous mountain views about 3 1/2 miles in! Can get a little crowded on weekends but thats to be expected of such a pretty and easily accessible running/biking path. Word of advice: keep your dogs on leash! Also, the path goes for about a mile and seems to end abruptly at the top of the golf course. Keep going down the hill and cross the street at the bottom to keep on the trail for another 3 miles till the end. Overall, its a great 8 mile running loop with a couple good hills here and there and packed trail terrain 90% of the way.

Its so cool the city built this park. The park forces the Deschutes River to wave in a way thats beneficial for wake boarders. Its also a beautiful, scenic area great for walks, jogging and picnics.
