Great walk along the Deschutes River! Its about a mile out to the viewing spot for the falls, which are really more like large rapids. Ive never been in the winter, so maybe its larger then, but the first time I went, I wouldve missed the falls if not for the obvious overlook. Theres a lot of trail out there, though, with a few river access spots if you want to just dip your feet and lots of good views. Lots of chipmunks and quite a few mosquitoes in late August.

Super nice trail. Great for walking, biking, families. Wide path, smooth. Peaceful/serene. Rode bikes btwn 6-7a in early August, weather was perfect. Path is definitely well maintained. Could bring a stroller or bike trailer. Scenery was beautiful

Nice little trail, less than a mile. There are a couple of spots where you can just enjoy the site and sound of the following water. I would recommend this trail, specially for beginners.

Not so much falls as they are a nice trail with rapids next to em. Nonetheless an easy stroll with lovely sights and too many Whos about in their blithering existence. I would suggest goin during the week. Wonderful anyways!

Great place to start a bike ride. Hikers may find the West Trailhead more rewarding. Day pass is needed to park here, you can use cash at the lot. Cool history and great bridge to start the journey, crossing it feels like entering into an outdoor playland! The .5 mile walk to the class 6 rapids is easy and you can hear them before seeing them, so keep an ear out for them.

Wow - what a gorgeous place! Loved how well maintained it is. A nice, level walking path for those with a bit of walking challenge but also smaller hardpacked dirt paths to get closer to the river and falls. I use a brace and crutch on one side and the trails were maintained well enough that I could manage the smaller dirt paths.

People on bikes racing around you. I was hit 2 times by bicyclists. Was frustrating. They need to police and enforce the laws and assaults that take place here. A few homeless camps and drug needles on the trail was a weird sight. But the falls are beautiful.

Very easy hike, little elevation gain. Many people on bikes, people with dogs, and people with strollers. Theyre not actually falls but more of rapids as seen in the pictures but theyre still worth the half mile hike. Plus if you want to go even further you can see Dillon falls 3 miles past Benham which are very similar.

Pretty easy trail to follow. Theres actually a well maintained (dirt so may be muddy) path all the way to the falls and an offroad trail you can take if you want to get a little closer once you get there. Theres a lot of stunningly beautiful hiking in this area. I only took video which I cant upload here but I highly recommend this trailhead

Nice, flat hike from the parking lot to the falls. After a long day of serious hiking, the 0.5 mile walk to the falls was welcome. Perfect for families with small children, seniors, or anyone else wanting a leisurely walk, along a beautiful river, to scenic falls. It didnt hurt that it was a 65 degree day in November!

Benham Falls is probably my favorite trailhead in Central Oregon. As a local I’ve probably hiked it god knows how many times. The trail out to Benham Falls is extremely easy, wide trail and damn near perfectly flat all the way to the falls. The trail afterwards does continue however and you can hike for miles and miles without the beauty ever going away. The trail follows alongside the river and will lead you past numerous waterfalls. If you’re looking for great trails to hike while in the area definitely make Benham one of those trails! Some of these photos are from a little distance beyond Benham Falls itself.

One of the best nature is in Central Oregon. The dramatic scene of whitewater cascading through lava fields is only a short walk away from the parking lot. You can see it all from the large monolith or get down closer to the water if you walk down the hill. Go early on the morning to avoid crowds.
