Great location on a sunny day, to enjoy the great views of the river and Old Mill District. Perfect spot to start a walk or to end a bike ride. Public restroom nearby with plenty of parking.

We live in Bend and love visiting Smith Rock. We always bring visiting family/friends out here for a day hike. So much beauty packed in here! Our three and seven year olds tolerate the trials well. Be sure to bring lots of water and good footwear as there are some steep spots.

In spite of it originally being presented as a multiple wave, park-and-play mecca for whitewater kayakers, the rebuild of the park a year (or two) after the opening turned it into a single green wave for board surfers. The other four drops dont appear to be tuned for any use, and the usage reflects it. Its 95‰ surfers on the middle wave. Nothing wrong with board surfers, it is just unfortunate the other drops cant be shaped for use, even if for more surf waves.

This place is an AWESOME spot to take your kiddos. I strongly recommend bringing a tube or surf board. People were dropping into the river a couple of miles up and then floating down. Signs say that glass is prohibited but a number of people had canned alcoholic beverages during their river float. There are a few areas with small rapids, nothing large enough to knock a kid off of their floating device.Idaho doesnt require life jackets but if your little ones are floating alone you may want to put them in one for the small rapids towards the end of the float.

Awesome place to goat down man made rapids or surf/body board a standing wave made in the river. Kids can go down and walk up the path to the top of the rapids and do it over and over with ease.

This is fun. We should all be proud to have this fun, free place in our town. Float down the river and pass through or picnic at McKay park and ride the rapids over and over. It’s a great way to spent a summer afternoon and my out of town family (and kids) love it.

Such a great place. My family loves coming here and Im amazed that in this day and age of the world being so overly protective of our kids that a place like this was not only allowed but built. Im very proud of Bend for beginning this in despite risks of injuries. We come here often to take a rest in the river and enjoy the splashing of the whitewater park. Great job.

We stopped in Bend for a much needed quick little float on our long drive home! We went to Walmart and got floaties for $7.50 and hit the water! Even though we started at six, we were warm enough the whole time! Be aware there are not air pumps available at the park. At least not that we found!

Dangerous and Ridiculous. Way too many people trying to navigate through a poorly designed navigation channel. They spent 4 years building this park, had 2 tries to get it right and millions of dollars of funding, = failed. Jagged and poorly designed. You have groups of 25 people that are being rented tubes and sent down in masses. Watch your kids closely when going down, always let them go first. Lower Oregon income tax rates. Start a sales tax.

Awesome place to play or people watch. The area is divided into 3 parts—a nature preserve, a mild tube chute, and a rapids/wave chute. The city has done a wonderful job with it. We enjoyed watching people surf the wave while exploring the area.

The Bend Whitewater Park is a must for all floaters for fun, free, and easy time in Bend.Unfortunately a developer lobbied enough that they got the city to approve the building of a hotel that a shadow will be casted over the park, specifically the whitewater area.

This place is awesome! They have a lifeguard watching over the kids and two different channels to go down. Theres a series of pools with one small rapid in between each which the inner tubes favor. The other channel has a few different and more challanging waves/rapids. Its super cool here because you can go down and walk back up again on a path. Theres also a beach to hang out on and plenty of lawn to let little ones and dogs run on. We took the kids in their fun1 whitewater kayaks. It was a great place for them to learn how to paddle (theyre 7 & 8).
