We went to the SkyView Drive In twice this week for the Band Event, and we had tons of fun.I read a lot of the other negative reviews and based on my experience, none of the bad reviews sound true.Staff were very kind and helpful. They did not raise their voices or yell at anyone, they answered our questions politely. One of the people in the kitchen even handed my friend a ketchup packet for his Cheeseburger without us needing to ask which was super polite.I never went in to the actual bathrooms but the portable restrooms outside of the concession stand were clean and had lighting in them so you could see at night. The food was good and the line went quickly, the prices were fair. There was one point on Monday where the video froze within the first few minutes, however after that there were no more problems and things were smooth. The video was clear and the radio was good quality. Everyone was wearing masks and following the social distancing guidelines and it seemed very safe. This was my first experience at a historic Drive-In, and I had a lot of fun. Will be coming back

This was my first time at a drive-in theater and it was great! A good way to get out and do something while also keeping your distance from others. They had a snack bar with corn dogs, popcorn, and drinks. The price was $10 a person and you got to see two movies for admission.

Ive gone to this movie theater several times. Perfect place to go to the movies with friends so you can talk a bit more. Perfect to go there with kids too. Its cheaper than a typical indoor movie theater and much more memorable experience since drive in theaters are not as common. I was very happy to see they were willing to allow an outdoor Christian concert there during covid-19. Get there early enough so you can get a spot near the middle for best viewing. Bring a bluetooth speaker or boom box so you dont use up your car battery to listen to the movie.

I LOVE YOUR PLACE!!!!!!! It is awesome in so many ways. A great place for everyone anytime. Everything is prefect. I read some of the other reviews and I was shocked that folks out there would throw out lies about your place and team. I loved the way you speak up for yourselves with the facts. Keep up the good work!!! You and your team are a blessing to so many of us. May you always be around.

Seems very rundown. Bathrooms are atrocious, and food bar is just ok. Main screen #1 is very lumpy and has a big line running through the bottom third. Most movies shown there are darker than normal, so horror movies are near-impossible to see. The best part is that tickets arent too high abd you can bring your own food AND cooler in! Nice.

Went to see Bert Kreischer on 10/20/20. It was raining somewhat hard when we arrived (obviously this was out of their control). The opening 3 comics all did their set within the first 30 minutes without an issue. At the end of the 3rd comic, when Bert was supposed to go on they announced that there was lightning in the area so they were going to delay Bert for 20-30min. Then no update for aver 1.5 hours. I personally only saw a flash or 2 of lightning at the beginning of the delay and nothing after with occasional light rain showers and nothing on the radar. At the end of the 1.5 hours, at the scheduled end of the show, they announced the the show was canceled and to leave. They announced that the ticket price would be refunded at least, although I doubt they had any control over this. This is unfortunately very little consolation as we drove 1.5 hours each way to see this show so we waisted over 5 hours for essentially nothing. Very disappointing.

This was our first outing since the onset of Covid-19. With so many people making the pandemic a political dividing point, Skyview has stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. Despite having to wear masks, every employee we encountered was friendly, courteous, and professional.I also think its important to mention that most of the staff were young people. How does one get that demographic to take anything seriously? I have no idea, ask Skyview because they definitely pulled it off.

$10 a person is a little ridiculous. The kitchen staff was quite slow (maybe they were just starting to get into cooking so that was understandable), but the amount of inconsiderate people pouring in non stop was upsetting. Even an hour after the first feature started cars are still coming in headlights on, driving in circles shining their headlights into everyones faces, and really just ruining the entire experience. Id rather go to Starlite where the entry fee is cheaper, the food is cheaper (and better) and where people are considerate.

Review №53

Its very good to see the drive-in still open in this strange time keeping us movie buffs out of traditional theaters. Skyview is very well kept venue with a friendly staff and wonderful presentation. I always have an enjoyable experience there but I unfortunately had to knock two stars off my review due to an incident the last time I was there when, in the middle of the movie, the screen suddenly froze and an oddly jovial voice came over the radio to remind everyone that the use of marijuana was prohibited and that theyd already contacted the police with the license plate numbers of any offending cars. Now, if the folks in charge of the Skyview want to prohibit the use of marijuana that is, of course, their prerogative but I was shocked that they thought it was at all appropriate to interrupt the movie for all those whod paid to be there and werent breaking any rules. If they had their license plate numbers, why couldnt they just quietly be asked to leave by ushers? To stop a movie right in the middle of a scene breaks the immersion. The audience is pulled out of it and it takes some time to get back in. Its not how I want to watch a movie (especially when I paid to be there) and its not how the people who worked hard to make the movie intended it to be seen. As I said earlier, this is a very good drive-in with a lot going for it but Im going to think twice about going back if this is really how they see fit to deal with this particular problem.

Normally we have a really good experience here. However, monday we did not. I sent a message via email monday morning asking if they had any reserved spots left for that nights movies. I got a reply that said they did not but to get to the box office early and that they opened at 7. We live 30 mims away so we left in plenty of time. We decided to pick up a pizza on our way into the drive in and as we were waiting for our pizza i decided to make sure the box office was going to open at 7. To my surprise, it said they opened at 8. I sent another message to the facebook page and through email to ask what time the box office opened. I got no response and when i called, i got an automated message. We were going to go somewhere else to wait for the box office to open had it opened at 8 and not 7 like we were told. Since we got no response, we decided to wait at the box office in case it did indeed open at 7. It in fact did not however open at 7. So we got to wait for an hour at the box office. Which wasnt a big deal. What frustrates me is not that i was given wrong information but that it was so difficult to get ahold of someone there to ask. I got a reply the next day answering my question. So i replied with, this message was from yesterday and that i was frustrated with not being able to get ahold of anyone after we were told false information. I would not be writing a bad review on those things alone. The icing on the cake was the response i got back after voicing my frustrations. They replied back with. I told you the wrong time, im human and make mistakes. Honesty, how unprofessional!

Popcorn is great, although the employee said 3 men are walking on a beach. They come across a strange looking vase in the sand and one of them tries to pick it up. However it is very brittle and crushes to dust as soon as it is touched, and a genie pops out.I dont normally grant wishes to more than one person, but Ill make an exception, the genie says. Each of you will be allowed 3 wishes. He asks the first man for his first wish, and without hesitation, the man responds that he wants to be the richest man in the world. The second man immediately wishes for a 1967 Corvette Stingray. Finally the genie asks the third man for his first wish, and the third man thinks for a moment.I wish for my left arm to rotate clockwise, the third man says. Thinking this is a very strange request, the genie grants the man his wish and his left arm begins spinning clockwise. For his second wish, the first man wants to be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and a gorgeous Brazilian model appears at his side. The second man wishes for his very own Lady Moura yacht. The third man, with his left arm spinning uncontrollably, finally settles on his second wish.I wish for my right arm to rotate counterclockwise, he says. Now in 400 billion years the genie has never encountered such a strange set of wishes, but nonetheless he is bound to honor them and so the mans right arm now begins to spin counterclockwise. Now on to his third wish, the first man asks for a beautiful house on his own private island in the Caribbean and disappears. The second man asks for a mansion, and he too disappears. The genie waits patiently as the third man thinks studiously for several long moments, both arms flailing in opposite directions.I wish for my head to nod up and down uncontrollably, he says finally. The genie is at a complete loss for what this man has up his sleeve, but nonetheless decides to grant it so he can return to a nice quiet vase to rest, and the mans head now begins to nod up and down uncontrollably. The three men live their lives without any contact for many years, before one day deciding to meet in a bar to catch up.Fellas, I cant believe my fortune! exclaims the first man. I can buy anything I want and I get to sleep with the most beautiful woman in the world!Nevermind that, Im just happy that Ive gotten to drive my 67 Stingray and sail my yacht around the seven seas, says the second man. And no wife to nag me in my giant mansion! They both look at the third man, head nodding and arms flailing.Guys, he says. I think I messed up. then he told me to move my car

Check out this list of little-known-facts about the historic landmark.Skyview owner Steve Bloomer and his family will celebrate 100 years in the theater business this year. The Bloomer family opened their first theater in Freeburg in 1917. Skyview opened in 1949. In their heyday, the Bloomer family owned 17 theaters throughout the state. Before owning theaters, the Bloomer men were coal miners in West Frankfort, Skyview owner Steve Bloomer said. The drive-in is the only Bloomer establishment that remains.Even if you’re a regular at Skyview, you may not know that the drive-in didn’t go digital until 2013. For more than 60 years, employees at the drive-in were trained to project movies on the big screen, a job that required training and skill. Nowadays, Bloomer said he could start and stop a movie from home if he wanted to. Skyview is preserving one of the drive-in’s old projectors. It’s currently under lock and key in a storage room near the snack counter. How much did it cost to see a movie in 1949? Answer: 60 cents. Today, the cost is $11 for adults. Children 12 and under get in free. For a family of four, “it’s the best deal in town,” Bloomer said. The box office opens at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The sign is one of the most iconic movie marquees in the country. Designed by Kirn Signs, the rocket ship marquee appeared in 1950, one year after the drive-in opened. It was damaged by a storm in 1955. But very few people know that the last working bulb in the sign burned out three years ago. In the early 80s, Bloomer said, the drive-in turned off the function that made the sign flash. A Belleville sign ordinance outlawed flashing signs. Since then, the drive-in has kept the lights off. The sign would cost thousands of dollars to restore today.Don’t expect to receive a tiny car speaker if you visit the drive-in. Those were phased out by 2001. If you want to hear the movie, your car radio will double as your speaker now. Pro tip: If you bring a free-standing radio, bring your own batteries. The drive-in uses a digital frequency to broadcast sound for both screens. In the 80s, the drive-in experimented with an AM system, but that didn’t work. In the 90s, they tried an FM system That didn’t work well either, Bloomer said. The drive-in has always welcomed children. But what you may not know is that the playground was updated last year. A fresh coat of paint made the area inviting again. The concession stand in the middle of the drive-in has received a fresh coat of paint, too. Check out the updates on opening night, March 17.Old drive-ins don’t always show old films. While it’s nice to see classic films on the big screen, Skyview keeps its lineup fresh with new releases almost every week. In addition to the much-anticipated release of “Beauty and the Beast,” the drive-in will show the latest installment of “Fast and Furious,” “Smurfs” and “Pirates of the Caribbean
