Nice place to visit with my family, so sad to see that many graffitis on a historical monument.
My girlfriend and I were out driving and we saw a sign indicating a nearby county park. As we drove down the road we heard the sound of the river and drove past what looked like a cave. After reaching the end of the road we saw a historical sign telling the story of this place. Who would have thought there being only 3 saloons in the entire region? After walking into the cave and being a person who appreciates history - this was something truly special. Id highly recommend stopping by to see it if you happen to be in the area!
This is a cool place to visit that has an interesting history. It is too bad that this landmark is all graffitied. The integrity of the space has been ruined unfortunately.
One of the best places in the dells AND ITS FREE!
Definitely an underrated part of the Dells. Great Spot to bring a date.
No you dont have to trespass to get there, theres a gate that has the park hours on it to get down!
Got some awesome pictures of my car here!
Beautiful landscape, sandstone cliffs and water spillway
Its a really underrated place to visit in the Dells. If you ever want to stop and just relax, I highly recommend a visit.
Meh ? ... Lots of vandalizing and tagging
Very interesting place.
Quoted from the site sign at Timmes MillThe GrottoThe little shallow cave adjacent to the was once a little tavern. Sometimes called THE HOLE IN THE WALL later called THE GROTTO, it was one of the three original saloons in the Dells Area. Unfortunately not much is known about these ... It is believed that the first saloon was established some time around 1866, shortly after the completion of the dam. The tavern was in operation until at least 1967.
