You arent able to get the full experience of the submarine or other ships docked here due to the pandemic taking place. But I did enjoy learning about these ships and looking forward to possibly one day being able to board them and learn more

This was my favorite experience in Baltimore and one of my tops world wide. You can actually go down and explore the whole first level of the submarine, including the torpedo room that sunk the final enemy ships in WWII. Very cool...and shocking to see the living quarters. Unique experience back in time on a special battleship.

The Torsk is a relatively quick self-guided tour around a submarine. Those with back pain, who are obese, or who cannot move easily should not come aboard. There are small openings that will be difficult for many people to get through. There was some informational signs on the tour, but you also feel rushed because you cant really stop to read them very well when theres a line of people behind you. By the time you leave, youre going to be happy youre not a sailor stuck in the Torsk for a prolonged period of time.

Piece of American history and very well preserved sub. The sub was not crowded at all so we took our time reading and really looking at everything. Someone was even available to answer any questions you have. A total of 4 ships are in the inner harbor and I definitely recommend checking out all 4.

This one was amazing! This is worth the $15 alone. The others are cool but this one blows the other ships on the ticket out of the water.

I always thought that a submarine would be a little cramped. However, I didnt know that it would trigger my claustrophobia. I did manage to make it over halfway through before the claustrophobia kicked in, but I managed to make it all the way through and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will say that if you have issues with bending or fitting through small holes, you may want to second-guess going through this. However, if you can do it, its totally worth it!

Very cool submarine with very reasonable admission prices. Definitely check this place out if youre a navy buff and want to learn more about submarines. Quite a rare opportunity as not many submarines are publicly accessible. Stairways are extremely narrow and steep. Headroom is extremely limited so youll have to be extremely careful. Not many people when I visited so it was great to enjoy the sub without people crowding in. A lovely hidden gem.

A clean and well maintained exhibit of American and maritime history. The self guided tour through the entirety of the vessel is well illustrated with many descriptions of the components along the way. It gives a good sense of what it is like to live on these subs for as long as sailors had to. I was a little nervous with the kids going through each of the doors and walking around given everything is steel and there is little room for maneuvering, but the kids had a blast and with some guidance had no issues. They were just thrilled to be on a real submarine. Highly recommend.

Its worth a visit if youre in downtown Baltimore. Definitely not the right place for claustrophobic people though. Also, there are 5 different vessels in this harbor, so if you buy a ticket for one, you get a discount for the others.

GO! GO! GO SEE THESE SHIPS!Tickets to see all the ships, plus the light house are only $18! Completely worth it. This sub In particular was my favorite- but beware- it’s tight quarters. If you have claustrophobia it may not be the best option. It is a tight space and each section has small doors you need to climb through to get to the next part. It’s very easy to bump your head so be careful! Overall tho, it was so awesome! So many old buttons and things to press lol! (P.s my boyfriend was obviously a little too excited to be pressing these said buttons )

This was my favorite of the 4 Historic Ships in Baltimore. The Torsk was fun to tour and had numerous informational displays, although I had so many questions that I wish there were even more.Accessibility note: A member of my party had sprained his back before our visit, and we discovered that there wasnt really an easy way to pass through the numerous compartment doors.

At Baltimore Inner Harbor but really wishing you could tour the inside of an old submarine? Well, look no further! The USS Torsk will meet any land lubbers curiosity! The USS Torsk, permanently docked in Baltimore, served two wartime patrols during the last part of World War II. USS Torsk had the honor of being the last submarine to use torpedoes to sink enemy combatants of that conflict. She served in the Lebanon Crisis and the 1962 Cuba naval blockade before retiring in 1968 to be a museum ship.

The U.S.S.Torsk is a Tench Class Submarine. ( SS-423 Hull number) It islocated just two slips down from the U.S.S. Constellation. Like the Constellation it is a self guided tour. Once again plenty to see aboard the Sub. Great History here and well worth touring her.

Well kept, and fascinating, with very few places roped off that you cant enter. Doorways are low and stairways steep and tight, and if we werent some of the only people there the claustrophobia would have started to set in, but it wasnt bad. Wonderful guides here too.

USS Torsk (SS-423) is part of the historic fleet of Historic Ships in Baltimore and is one of two Tench-class submarines still located inside the United States. In 1945, Torsk made two war patrols off Japan, sinking one cargo vessel and two coastal defense frigates. The latter of these, torpedoed on 14 August 1945, was the last enemy ship sunk by the United States Navy in World War II.

Very nice museum, had a short one day visit in Baltimore and got to see both the Constellation and Torsk. Regarding the name of the sub, I found it funny as it is the same as the most common food-fish we have besides the salmon, however torsk is the same as cod and not a cusk. Torsk and brosme is two different sorts of fish but within same family..

You too will likely enjoy touring this sub, if you share my bias for big equipment, military equipment, navy vessels, American history or World War II history. If you tour the Torsk, be sure to ask any of the guides about why the ship was converted to a snorkel, and what the U.S. Navy learned from mistakes the Nazi Navy made. Also be sure to ask why the hull is V-shaped and not cylindrical? The answer provides very interesting insight into changes in how subs are used in warfare. Also ask if anything was added to the deck when the ship is in port that is removed before she leaves. The Torsk is one of 5 different vessels you can tour at the Baltimore Harbor. You can buy a ticket for any one, or get a discount to see multiple vessels. The others looked interesting but I only had time to see one in detail.
