This is a great place to learn how a fire department operates. Knowledgeable docents talked to me for 3 hours, explained everything from fire boxes and communication equipment, to fire engine and personnel protection gear. They are retired firefighters and have endless stories! The museum is only open once a month. Im told they are open from April to November, on the third Sunday of the month, from 12:00 to 16:00. If you are able to get in, its worth seeing, and worth a donation.

Great displays. They did a nice tour and we all got a lot out of our (CAFAA) visit.

Would not recommend. The building is difficult to find for someone out of town. The neighborhood is a ghetto with this building being the only one not shuttered on the entire block. My wife did not feel safe while we parked and tried to find this building because of the neighborhood and the down and out people standing around in clusters and walking around. Since we did not get to go inside (because the times posted online and what was posted by the door differ) Im not sure to the quality of the exhibits. Im sure they had a lot of interesting fire artifacts but I would not recommend anyone with a family to visit.
