You can catch great views of sunset and the ISM Raceway here. Need several minutes to climb onto the top. A lot trash like shell case and bottles could be found.

A little known spot. A little gem. The water area makes me feel like I’m not in Phoenix. There’s a little mountain next to the small parking lot that you can climb. At the peak you can see straight down baseline road and Avondale blvd. There are ancient petroglyphs near the top of the mountain.Due to being lesser known it seems to get trashed a little more. There was no public trash can the last time I went down there. People go fishing and leave ALL of their trash down there. Yet one of my favorite spots.

A mile up the conflux of Salt & Gila rivers on the Salt river side was the site of two massacres involving Akimel O’odham & Pee Posh warriors against French-Canadian fur trappers. On January 25th of 1827, the 13 trappers had been invited to stay in the village of the normally friendly tribes. While there the trappers had demanded native women to be their bed side companions, which infuriated the welcoming hosts. around midnight the warriors attacked the trappers killing 10 leaving 3 trappers named Robidoux, Pattie & one unnamed trapper fleeing south to the Estrella mtns to escape with their lives. The trappers were able to meet up with another trapping party of 30 trappers led by Ewing Young that had approached up the Gila river. They had found where the French trappers had been slain and buried 8 of the trappers they were able to find. On the morning of January 31st, the trappers retaliated on the tribes village killing 110 in less than 10 minutes with their far superior weapons, none of the trappers had been injured in the attack. the hill here is Baseline hill, its the point where all the city streets of Phoenix are mapped out from. thats where Baseline rd got its name,Its lined up with Baseline hill.

Run down and a little trashy. Homeless guy in the bushes. Still a little warm. Tons of potential.
