Looking for something to take up the time while in Austin. Try the museum of the weird. Nice for families and friends. You will see various items real and up close. From shrunken heads to the ice man, you will enjoy the weird that captivates you. Due to Covid19, you need to make reservations ahead of time. Easy to find from street but limited parking available. ENJOY!

Typical Ripleys Believe it or Not type of museum, we dig these type of places, others may find it gimmicky. For 12 bucks it was a good way to kill an hour! Interesting as artifacts and nice Lon Chaney exhibit!

Pretty fun museum to kill the better part of an hour. If you’re at least a little curious about the weird and unexplained this will be well worth the twelve bucks. The floor plan takes a minute to get used to. Be sure to catch the mysterious Iceman, probably my favorite part of the museum. Not for the faint of heart or extremely young children, but everyone else should have a good time

I love this place and I love spending time there. It has a bunch of unique things that you can buy. Their museum is although a little small but def worth the price of admission and really friendly staff from beginning to end. Really suggest people that are visiting Austin visit this place out. You won’t be disappointed especially if you’re Into this kinda of thing.

THIS PLACE WAS AWESOME!!! A co-worker and myself found ourselves in Austin for the night. We grabbed dinner and wanted to do something fun and different. We heard about this place and had our doubts. Those were quickly banished away.We had a freaking blast. The staff was super nice and our guide was very funny. His jokes were what really made the tour. Also the magic show at the end was super fun. They also have a very cool exhibit that I will not spoil so that will be the teaser to get you in there. Nothing super weird about it, but enjoyable nonetheless. I took my 9 year old daughter and she said the best part was the special show at the end. I agreed. It is a small museum in the back of a gift shop and I personally think the admission is too high for what you get. This is best for kids and those who dont generally know about weird and unusual things or oddities (like me).

Boasting to be one of the last dime carnival attractions left, it housed a couple well know oddities, and a lot of wax figures of horror icons from the 1920s. Audrey 2 greets you at the door, and a tour guide with a lot of passion shows you around. Of oddities is your jam and you are in Austin go!

Keeping Austin Weird! This place was so interesting and WEIRD (In the best way possible) I visited on a quiet Tuesday and was 1 of 3 people on tour. I was able to really take time and admire the display pieces. Every time I turned around something grabbed my attention. Everything from Hollywood Movie Memorabilia to 3,000 Year Old Mummy. A curious collection of oddities and a secret famous artifact featured on Unsolved Mysteries...(Cant tell you...) Wax Museum you need a secret code to enter (Cant tell you Secret Code) . Sideshow Performance with 6 rotating acts throughout the week. Fun, Different, Interesting and Spooky. My kinda good time!

The Museum was one of my favorite visits in Austin. If you have never been to a dime museum then this is definitely something you want to experience. The entrance is first a gift shop with products that are hilarious and some that can be considered a little creepy. The best part is definitely the tour which is $12. You learn a lot about the history and the weird things that they have. The show they have changes so its always worth a visit because they are great. Its definetly a must if you are a tourist.

Fun quirky spot to view the weird and wacky on 6th Street in downtown Austin. We had fun visiting the museum, and then going on a tour guide, experiencing a side show, and then viewing the caveman in ice. Historical and comical. I think that sums it up. Not too bad for the price. The staff were nice and very into the theme which was awesome. Parking is on the street. Plan for about 45 minutes to an hour. The gift shop also has some cool finds.

Ok.... so it’s weird but what were you expecting? The guide was very friendly and although the place is quite small we were led around to different rooms and talked through what they had on display. One part I wasn’t expecting was the sideshow act (I probably just missed the sign) and while that isn’t really my cup of tea you couldn’t fault his enthusiasm or his performance. So if that’s up your street this would be an excellent place to visit.

My boyfriend & I came here and wow what a great way to start our, “ keep Austin weird” journey! We decided to take the tour and it was only like $13 a piece. This included admission to the museum, a tour, and a little show at the end. The museum itself is not very long but it is packed with odd stuff I won’t spoil! Then we were taken by the tour guide and his adorable 3-legged dog. We walked the building and he told/showed us a lot of interesting things ( that I won’t spoil either) and we ended with a fun show with a lot of surprises that might make you squeal! He was an awesome tour guide, super funny and made our tour great. Also had a cute dog! He accepts tips at the end via cash, Venmo, etc in case you don’t have cash on hand.Side note: I was scrolling through some reviews, many of the bad ones seem to be bad because they didn’t know what to expect so here are some tips for people wanting to goIf you go take the tour, the first part is a little area not very big of “freak show” type stuff like 2 headed animals and whatnot, then the tour guide will come and take you around the building to the Minnesota ice man, then to a room with wax figures of characters such as Frankenstein and a good photo opp with King Kong, then you will see the tour guides show. It is very entertaining, some may find it “gross” or too eclectic, if you do not like it or find any part of this, “satanic” or that your children cried and you found it offending then I suggest you grow a backbone.

The museum was interesting and has oddities worth checking out. Be sure to take your time in the first exhibit area. The workers are incredible and have loads of information and facts and are fantastic performers. Parts are a little dated but this is Austin and it fits the vibe well. Our daughters were a bit creeped out at first but Josh put them at ease and let them know nothing was going to scare them and they rocked it. Dan had a great little performance and was very personable.

Interesting place, we thought it was a bit costly at first, but it included a tour and a show at the end which made it an explicitly better deal. I would say they need more order and would have gotten 5 stars from me if there was.We got there and were told that our ticket came with a tour if we wanted and with no more explanation than that other than to motion towards the entrance of the museum. She was very nice, but it would have helped to explain that we would need to walk down to the end of the walkway where it is chained off and wait in line until they were ready to start the tour.It would have also been informative if they let us know that the tours happen every 20 + minutes and that they cut off at 18-20 people max per tour. It would also behoove them to inform us that there was an extremely worthwhile performance at the end and perhaps let us know we could tip that performer if we chose to. Just the mention of the tip may have helped the performer out some.NOTE TO ESTABLISHMENT: I would recommend a script that can be pasted at the cashier desk that could be read to quickly inform those interested in purchasing tickets. It would also, help if they had something to read explaining all this where people entering could see. If the show at the end is a staple of the tour, it should be advertised infront and in the entrance. The show is a quality act that could draw more people in. Just my thoughts anyway!
