This is the Best (only?) Shop of its kind in Central Texas. Their fly selection is great and their staff are always really nice and helpful, even offered to tie some flies that I asked about. Their Archery shop has the NICEST and most helpful guys, bar none. Ashton replaced a D loop for me free, on a hand-me-down bow and gave me a ton of advice to get started bow hunting, just because he wanted to see someone else get into the sport. That kind of service wins my repeated business. Their gear selection is awesome, some of the best new brands including ones local to Austin. Highly Recommended!

Nicholas Vedros, the owner, takes his time walking you through the selection process to make sure the build is exactly what you want and need.Also have to give 5 stars to the entire staff at SF. Friendly, knowledgable and they make you feel like family!This is my 300 PRC that took a little over a year to build, but well worth the wait.Just finished the break-in and now tracking the right recipe for the load.Picture 1 - The riflePicture 2- Mapping of 7 sets of 3 rounds. I cut targets out and laid them over each other for mapping. 2 different size bullets, 3 different power charges and cleaned between each set. Went into this store with no expectations of finding the rifle I had been searching high and low for. However, I was pleasantly surprised after speaking with one of the employees (who had extensive firearms knowledge) and found out that not only could they find it AND order it, but also that it would not take more than a week or so to get in. I picked up the rifle a week and a half later and was very pleased with my purchase. I would highly recommend this shop and their respectful staff to anyone looking for firearms (or other things outdoors) in the Austin area.

I worked with Seth in the bow shop to get my daughter setup with her first compound bow, which was given to her by a friend. He did a great job working with her, got the bow setup and matched up with the other accessories she needed (arrows, release, target). He even took the time to do a mini lesson on the range to make sure everything worked well for her. Really good customer service.

Just had a fly casting lesson with Lindy. Wonderful teacher and expert caster. She was gracious and complimented me when I probably did not deserve it. Will go back. Have been an infrequent user for over 20 years. August help my son and I fit our shotguns. Have purchased guns ammo and cases and was never disappointed with price or service. Now its on to fly fishing.

After calling in to multiple shops across the country& the manufacturer for help on the reassembly of a discontinued Tibor fly fishing reel, Chris was able to help me and give the exact information I was looking for. Blown away that Chris was able to recall the assembly of a reel that has been discontinued for 3 years. Thank yall for the help!

The overall vibe of this store is very warm and inviting. The staff is super helpful, chatty but not overbearing.This store has a great selection of fly fishing equipment. You can expect to find Orvis, Rio and Simms throughout the displays. The fly selection on display is geared more towards Hill Country fishing but underneath the display there are drawers filled with tons of dries and nymphs for those out of state adventures. The fly tying section is a little sparse but it does have a decent selection of materials available and at reasonable prices.

This is a great location. Their staff is very friendly and helpful especially Wayne, Garett and Shawn. I love this place. They have a lot of great products.

SF used to have one of the best fly shops anywhere, and I go in every fly shop I can find when I travel. Sadly, it is no longer up to this standard. They have greatly reduced their inventory and have had a 100% staff turnover in the last 18 months or so in the fly department. I recently called instead of going by the find a normal size of Howler fishing pants. I called first because I suspected they would be out. After holding for 11 minutes, my suspicion was confirmed.

Top notch customer service. The guy even texted me pictures of the flies i was asking him about over the phone! Thats how you run a business!

Yay - finally got my gun from back-order. Service was okay - couldve been better, I completed my license to carry training for my birthday ordered my very first gun at SF, I went in and made a payment on an H&K VP9 they called the H&K rep and placed an order, he said it would arrive in 7-10 days - which never happened. SF: I received no phone calls - I had to follow up 3 times by phone - took two months to arrive - but sign of the times I guess, and VP9s are in super high-demand and sold out - I received a call when it finally came in - 2 mo-ish later. So I would ONLY recommend they follow up with their customers regularly despite the lack of good news (prob make more sales too - its better service to call then to have to be called), the staff are nice and I know they were in a rock in a hard place on this one.

Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly Staff. I worked with Chris Smith and Lindy. I am a newly committed fly fisherman who caught the bug. Chris Smith walked me through everything I needed with expert knowledge while making me incredibly comfortable. Discussions centered around knots, experiences on the water, fish species knowledge, abundant fly knowledge, abundant water knowledge. He was a real pros pro with his knowledge, friendliness, and professionalism. I was blown away. It eliminated any discomfort I have pursuing this passion head on. Great selection of flies, gear selection, apparel from your favorite brands, and much more. If you are debating taking a visit do not wait any longer. I have found a favorite shop in Austin and I look forward to coming to Sportsmans many more times for a long time.

Great first experience. I am looking to build out a bolt action rifle for next hunting season and have a ton of questions. Update: Scott called me about my review. He called his Sig rep and sure enough, they had lowered the price of the gun and he refunded me 100 bucks. I appreciate him making this right. I will change my review to reflect this. I do love my gun and I love the holster I bought there as well.I was in a hurry due to a sick kid at home but went to this place because I had never been and was near. I knew what gun I wanted and when they had a price 100 more I asked about it in hopes they were competitive and would come down. The guy told me there was no way it could be cheaper as Sig Sauer was strict about pricing. He saw me hesitate and agreed to give me discounts on bulk ammo, holster and extra mag so I bought it. As I said I was in a hurry and when I got home I looked at the ticket and there was no discount on the holster or mag like he said. And the price he quoted on the ammo was 3 bucks more then what he charged. AND three local stores all had the gun cheaper so the line he fed me was a lie as well. Avoid this place!

Extremely helpful, patient and polite. Ive been to other gun shops but none of them compare. I will only buy my future guns from them or have guns shipped to them! Stopped by yesterday since I heard the place has come under new management. Once I walked in one of the owners came up to shake my hand and welcome me. We talked for a few minutes and I have to say, very nice guy. Super easy to talk to, even if you know nothing about guns/sporting equipment. They renovated the inside and it makes a world of difference, feels much more open and inviting now. As far as pricing, they were mostly fair. The only thing that stood out to me was an LCP I on sale for $330. That brings me to the one con I had about my experience; they have very nice, high-end guns priced seemingly appropriately. But that’s it. If I wanted to go in looking for a cheap range toy, or a beat up used firearm, I’d be out of luck. But hey, they’re a new store, and I’m sure they’re inventory will take time to adjust. Overall I 100% recommend stopping in, even if you’re not currently in the market for anything. Oh, and they have an amazing selection of archery equipment (an entire room devoted to it!) and are building an archery range. Not my cup of tea personally, but my best friend loves it so we’ll definitely be checking it out next time she’s in town.

I came in to use Silencer Shops Kiosk for a transfer I had coming into Sportsmans Finest. I wasnt spending any money with them today, and they knew it. I received excellent customer service from Ramsey, he helped me figure out what to do at the kiosk, was very professional and downright friendly. This kind of customer service makes me want to be a loyal customer, and thats what theyve earned today. Ill be back!

Between them they have a wealth of expertise and regardless of your own experience level, they will treat you like family and give you nothing but the best help and advice that you need/want.I always leave this store either knowing I made the right purchase or with new knowledge to enable me to do a little research of my own before going back and getting what truly fits my requirements.I won’t be shopping anywhere else from now on.

Nice place, semi nice staff (in gun dept)i think it just depends on what day you go. You either get gruff people that are knowledgeable, helpful staff are knowledgeable, or just ignored. Ive been here several times its always hit or miss. Pun intended. Cant speak about the fishing dept but it looks nice. Most guns are higher priced, but thats to be expected, when youre one of the few gun stores in the area. If i needed something in pinch I wouldnt hesitate to go back, but I know Ill be paying more for the convenience. Overall good store.

Best fly shop in Texas. They have everything you need and theyre incredibly helpful. The people who have written negative reviews are either crazy, ridiculously entitled, or both. Every time I go in, needing flies for a different area of the country or different season, theres always someone there to help me figure out what the hatch is and what flies will work. The owner, Greg, has helped me several times himself and is a great conversationalist. Sportsmans is the gold standard. Support your local fly shop and go to Sportsmans finest.

Went in the other day to look for a medium to high end O/U shotgun. Stopped off at the ammo rack first to take a look and heard the employees behind the gun counter start to knock people from Canada. They did this after they saw the Toronto Blue Jays shirt I had on. After going on for a few minutes they said Sir, are you from Canada? I replied No, Im not, I got this shirt as a gift from my wife. I am from Detroit. So, just dont say anything bad about Detroit Right away the smart-ass behind the counter replies I dont have to, Detroit speaks for itself I left the store and will never go back. Had that not been a gun shop I would have ripped that little punk over the counter and schooled him on some Detroit style customer hospitality You, Sportsmans Finest, have no place to insult your customers. I would strongly encourage others to find another place to shop. By the way, I emailed the store thinking I would get a call or reply back. Nothing.

Bought my first gun here when I was 21. I was not very knowledgable about hand guns so I had a lot of questions to ask. They were very helpful and informative. Compared to the other places I shopped they were the best. As far as price goes I have yet been able to find a store that can beat them in price. The gun I bought I have seen for as much as $100 more at other shops. Prices are great and they are ready to listen and help.

I bought a hand gun from these folks and they were knowledgeable and polite. I got there late in the day and they got everything done quickly. This will be my store from now on.

Prices are high and the employees are know it alls. Im a Marine vet primary marksmanship instructor and currently a CHL instructor who buys a lot of guns, every time Im in there I here them giving first time buyers bad advice. I sometimes dont get any help in the place even after looking for up to 20 minutes at times. I do love to go there though because they have a large selection, so I can handle whatever gun I am interested in then I go somewhere else to buy it.

But honestly i left disappointed because i was there for 10 min and no one acknowledge that i was there. It wasnt till i made sye contact with a sales rep. Then i guess he just delt obligated at that point. Anyways i will be taking my money else were. Its to bad because i really wanted to support a local shop.. oh and a side note, just because i dont have a cowboy hat on nor a heavy country accent, doesnt mean you should over look me.
