Professional, courteous, and safe. Went over the basics and brought everyone up to speed. If you pay attention and participate respectfully you get to the shooting more quickly. This is because safety is key and this group understands that. Great first experience! I would recommend for a team building activity.

Amazing place to learn the basics of archery. It has a great long term program to progress in your abilities with the sport. Ive already been here for over a year. Coach Racae is very professional, can teach to both kids and adults, and keeps you motivated to get better. Equipment is provided for beginners and you get advice to buy your own once you progress. If youre interested in trying something new to do in Austin, this is the place to go.If youre interested in archery in the long term, this is the place to go too.

My daughter has taken lessons with Archery Training Center for over two years, and her archery training is one of her favorite things. She comes to the range multiple times a week at this point, and her enthusiasm for the sport is as high as ever. The coach at Archery Training Center focuses on the form and shot cycle outlined by US Olympic Archery. She is firm in reminding the archers to practice these things deeply and consistently, but she is also patient and encouraging. She constantly urges my daughter to recognize what she does well rather than fixate on mistakes and to remember that archery is a long journey. Reflecting on my daughter’s experience since her beginner class, where she only hit the target once, I recognize that archery has so much to offer beyond the range: it helps my daughter learn to focus, shut out distraction, set goals, and persevere— and that is on top of the physical benefits of a strong core and upper body and the practical responsibilities of maintaining her equipment and following her training plan. When our family thinks about things we love about living in Austin, living close to a place where our daughter can pursue her interest so happily and productively always makes our list.

I highly recommend Archery Training Center to any aspiring archer, whether you are a rank beginner, competitor in advanced training, or somewhere in the middle. I am an adult male, retired, and had not lifted a bow for about 50 years when I registered and began classes about a year ago.Even though I am a recreational archer, Coach Racae gives me the same amount of individual attention as she does to her true competition-level archers. She is a high level USA Archery-certified coach, and she uses exactly the same methods and processes that develop the worlds medaling national teams. The classes therefore are structured and rigorous, while at the same time engaging, rewarding, and very much fun.Classes are in a bright, well-equipped, air conditioned indoor range that meets all national competition standards. All equipment is provided at no additional cost, but Coach Racae will guide you through specifying and purchasing your own bow when you are ready. Ten lanes let you shoot shoulder to shoulder with fellow archers of very diverse, backgrounds, ages, and skill levels.Austin is incredibly fortunate to have Coach Racae and the Archery Training Center facilities available to any archer, at a very reasonable cost. If you want the thrill of a bow and arrow in your hands, by all means sign up!

My family loves the Archery Training Center and Coach Racae. We initially started taking archery lessons here ten months ago after my ten year old son discovered archery in the cub scouts. He and I had so much fun my 14 year old daughter decided to join us. Its great family activity.Coach Racae is a great coach - very patient and thoughtful in how she provides individual direction. Besides just archery the kids have learned valuable life skill lessons on practice, patience, and mental toughness. The facility is great - kept very clean. The archery equipment is well maintained.

My husband and I first attended the introductory course at Archery Training Center with Coach Racae in 2009. We thoroughly enjoyed the large indoor range, her utmost attention to safety and detail, and above all the expertise offered with regard to Olympic recurve form. Since our initial lesson, we have always enjoyed visiting the range. When our daughter expressed interest at three years of age, we knew this is where she would train. Ten years later, we are very glad that Coach Racae is our daughter’s instructor as well. We attend lessons several hours per week, and at every lesson one will note that there are many archers and their families, spanning 2-3 generations, enjoying their time, learning with confidence, and steadily advancing in skill and poise. Racae’s gentle nature, experience with competitive archery, and her diligence in helping every single archer achieve perfect form is unmatched. This is a unique training center, and we feel extremely fortunate to have found Racae.

Keep in mind my experience was nearly 2 years ago, but this has been bugging me every time I think of this place. Also, I am an archery instructor and RSO, but all my experience has been within the Boy Scouts. Anyway, we live nearby the ATC, and my son loves archery, so we came here for him to practice since as a Cub Scout, he didnt get many opportunities to shoot. The first time wasnt too bad, had to take their basic intro class and quiz and then he got to shoot and had an instructor there to help with his form a bit. The next time however wasnt so pleasant. It was just after Christmas, and my son had asked Santa for a camo patterned arm and finger guard, and was so proud to wear it while shooting at the ATC. The woman instructor there threw a fit when he put them on, proclaiming we dont wear hunting equipment here, we use competition style equipment only! and then proceeded to swap out his present with their equipment. Now I get that they are a JOAD facility, but we were just there to practice and have fun, and there was no reason to shame my 10yr old the way she did. I will mention that her mannerisms didnt change the whole time we were there, very pretentious and rude to the kids, particularly mine. So we never went back, and now if someone asks me where they can practice in South Austin, I will mention the ATC, but I will preface it with they were snooty and highbrow with us, so be prepared if you do go. Its unfortunate, as my son might have gotten into competition shooting if we had continued to practice there, but 2 years later, hes still just plinking and having fun with it when he can. I am considering starting a NASP class at his new school if I can get the interest there, so maybe he and others like him can find a home thats not so uppity as the ATC.

I went to the indoor beginners course. The coach talked for 2 hours, she said she was doing it to see who was listening and how long you could listen, but if you ask me, I would have rather used two hours to shoot. The shooting was only about 30-45 minutes. Its a nice facility.

The ATC is an excellent Archery Training Center. It offers first time classes, advanced classes, an adult program and a Junior Olympic Archery Development program. Classes are taught by US Archery certified instructors and coached. All of the information is located on their website.

As of writing this review, I have been going to the adult Archery Training Center classes twice a week for 5 months. I have learned so much about Olympic style recurve archery from the excellent coaches. They coach based on the USA Archery National Training System and are committed to develop competitive archers. Beginner equipment is provided, and the coaches also help you purchase your own equipment when you are ready. I look forward to my years ahead in archery at the ATC!
